My grandma, who is an ex Jehovah's witness, once said that "No god would send their children to eternal hell, else they would be a bad god." or something like that. I'm not Christian, or anything for that matter, but that statement that my grandma said will always stick with me when thinking of most religions. (also wanted to clarify just in case this is not a hate comment just my opinion)
God is not willing that any should perish, but that all would repent and be saved. We broke God's laws, Jesus paid the fine for us breaking them. God provided His own Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus gave Himself willingly to pay the debt that we owed. The Bible says the wages of sin is death. It says that the soul that sins shall die. We are the ones that did wrong, and yet we can be forgiven by simply putting our faith in His payment. We have earned the death sentence, but our debt has been paid. Your grandmother was close to something, but she did not understand that God doing that on our behalf is why Christ's work is worthy of our faith in Him. There is also a misunderstanding of justice in her comments. Ask yourself and answer honestly, "should murderers end up in Hell?". Morally speaking we know that they should face justice. Sin is so serious to a holy God that He must do justice. But people are not going to Hell because of God's works. They are going to Hell because of their own works. God gave us a means of salvation. Just trust Him.
