As a Ranger fan and having Herb Brooks, McClanahan and Pavelich come to the Rangers right after the Olympics was awesome, love those guys.

He is such a “real blunt speaker”. Love it. Thank you for making hockey history.

my mother was in the same class at the same highschool as schneider. to her dying day she always called him buzzy. she said EVERYONE called him buzzy instead of buzz or william. said he was quiet and focused on sports rather than girls or making trouble. i'm so glad it all paid off in the end for him

Rob is the guy who have a bruise in the leg in the game against Sweden and is called Candy-Ass by Herb Brooks!
"A bruise on the leg is a hell of a long way from the heart, candy ass" is Herb Brooks send to McClanahan in the room.

Herb Brooks (to McClanahan): A bruise on a leg is a hell of a long way from the heart, you candy ass!

I saw him play the last year of the old CHL which only had 5 teams in the 1983-84 season. He complained he didn't deserve to be in the CHL. He played for the Tulsa Oilers for 10 games. Ironically the Tulsa Oilers evicted from their home stadium became a road-only team and yet won the CHL league championship! Teams that year were: Montana Magic, Colorado Flames, Tulsa/CHL Oilers, Indianapolis Checkers and the Salt Lake Golden Eagles.

I watched him play with the Binghamton Whalers, he was great, I remember he had at least one hat trick, maybe more, wasn't there long...

I'm guessing him and Jack O'Callahan never really fought like they showed in the movie

@Mr knight1 I figured it didn't happen because he said he was only in 1 real fight and it wasn't with O'Callahan

There was a brawl game between
BU and Union in the 1976 NCAA Tourney.
That was supposed to be the genises of the movie fight. However, McClanahan was a senior in HS and therefore not able to play.
      O'Callahan, Eruzione, Baker and Verchota
were the only players involved in that game
that were on the '80 US Team.
There was a Minnesota vs Massachusetts
rivalry that resulted in a 2 year Minn vs Mass HS All Star Series. Tom Glavine,
Tom Barrasso, Paul Ranheim and Kevin Stevens played in it and Massachusetts
won both years dispelling the Minnesota
      superiority myth.

      BU vs Minnesota, not Union.
