- In this week's Breaking the Ice series, Dave talks favorite herbism's, his chances at a repeat performance, gives advice for future campers, and talks about the player he can't believe made the 1980 team.
I can't take most of his answers seriously. He's just having fun. Love it!
Eruzione had a certain patience with the puck, you could tell he was more experienced than a lot of the usa players, and he was a natural goal scorer.
How much do you remember about skating in Binghamton?
Dave Silk is Mike Milbury's cousin.
He was goofing about Eruzione.
But even Eruzione admits that he’d be “painting bridges” for a living if he hadn’t scored that 4th goal. Think Silk was having fun with the answer, but I’m not sure he wasn’t telling the truth.
Eruzione was a legit candidate for the 1976
US Olympic Team. He played in the 1975 Worlds and had an excellent career at BU.
He probably would have had a cup of coffee
with an NHL team but he knew he wasn't
getting a career in the NHL.
Eruzione, Schneider, Harrington and Wells were also aided by several players who turned pro early or got hurt.
Joe Mullen, Tom Gorence, Mike McDougal
and Chris Nilan all signed pro contracts and
a healthy Ralph Cox was going to make the team.
Add in defensemen like Langway,
Gordie Roberts and Richie Dunn and Dave Christian gets moved to his natural forward position. Team might have probably shook
out like this:
G - Baker - Craig
D - Langway - Morrow
O'Callahan - Dunn
Baker - Roberts
F - Johnson - Pavelich - Broten - Christian
W - Mullen - Christoff - Gorence -
Cox- McClanahan - Silk - Nilan
McDougal
Is there a "thing" he has against Erurzone?
no! it was humor.
