      Ayo I don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested (read on)
      hell was never meant for us, my fellow youtube user. it was for the devil and his squad, and God gave us the Way out of there since we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
      God knew we were wack, but He decided He was still come down and help us, despite our unfaithfulness. most relationships (like friendships, romantic relationships) aren't like this. Very few, but not a whole lot.
      religion (Christianity) is just a relationship with God along with loving others (see james 1:27)
      also, we have various types of evidence that backs up the Bible.
      Here's one example: Scientists have discovered that the earth "skipped" a day.
      The Bible explains how that happened. In the book of Joshua, Joshua asked the sun to stop so he and the Israelites could defeat their enemies. Then in 2 Kings, King Hezekiah learned he was dying, and pleaded to God to not let him die. God sent a prophet to king hezekiah who said hezekiah would live. Hezekiah wanted a sign, and that would be for the sun to defy the law of inertia and go back 10 degrees. NASA confirmed it and did the math (look it up for more info).
      We also found Noah’s Ark hanging out in turkey, along with anchor stones marked with crosses signifying that it’s a revered place, along with altars and many other things. Look it up, it’s good stuff
      The Holy Spirit exists. I was a slave to s3xual sin for 7-ish d@mn years. Finally at 16, God freed me. Also, look up John Gabbana's (boonk gang) testimony. Dude did a lot of wacky stuff. He's changed now.
      also, the soul exists. someone i know (i won't say who- privacy reasons) saw their soul leaving their body. like pulling off a band-aid, except it doesn't hurt.
      I was suicidal for 9-ish months, but then I read John 3:16, and poof- the big sad went away in one night.
      There are also non-Christian sources who have confirmed the existence and divinity of Jesus, some of which were hostile towards Christianity, such as:
      Thallus (52 AD), who said Jesus lived, was crucified, and confirmed the darkness and earthquake that followed Christ’s crucifixion;
      Tacitus (56-120 AD), who called the followers of Christ Christians, confirmed that Jesus was crucified under Pontus Pilate’s command
      Talmud (400-700 AD), confirmed that the disciples were martyred for their faith, and confirmed Jesus was executed the day before the Passover, and said Jesus had “magical” powers
      Pliny the Younger (61-113 AD), who said that the Christians thought Jesus was/is God in the Flesh (God the Son)
      Phlegon (80-140 AD), who said Jesus had the ability to predict the future, and confirmed that Jesus was crucified during Caesar’s reign, confirmed Jesus rose from the dead, and confirmed He showed His wounds to confirm He was crucified.
      Celcus (175 AD), who said Jesus was born of a virgin, said His father is a carpenter, and confirmed Jesus had miraculous powers
      (See cold-case Christianity for more details)
      Here’s the physical evidence of Jesus and His Resurrection:
      1) No persecution would have started if He hadn’t come back (the disciples thought Jesus would never resurrect)
      2) The Roman soldiers would have paid with their lives if they failed at their jobs
      3) there was a 2-4 ton rock that 11-12 guys would have to move (they didn’t have any help. Everyone said “crucify Him”) major L to those opposed to Jesus
      4) there was a Roman seal which was a metal pin that sealed the tomb stone
      5) Stealing the Jesus’s body isn’t something the disciples would do (besides Judas. Although he hung himself after feeling remorse for betraying Jesus).
      6) the disciples wouldn’t die for what they knew would be a lie. (The lie being Jesus never made the ultimate comeback)
      faith and reason, people
      hit me up to learn more about how science proves the Bible or just about God in general.

    • @MsJavaWolf
      @MsJavaWolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@RamseyRimkeit I don't really agree with that, what would the obvious answer be in this case? He asked about meaning and strictly speaking that is not the same as truth.
      Hitchens did not address meaning or truth, he rather defended the constitution, which is important but doesn't answer the question.
      I dislike it when people mention the utility of religion, for me it's about truth, if there is no god there is no god. And I dislike that argument even more because some speakers are not really that convinced in the existence of god, when they talk about the benefits of a belief in god rather than god himself all I hear is "yes I dont really believe in it, but thge dirty peasants should believe in it so we have a functioning society"
      I don't know who the person asking the question was. Maybe he himself suffered a great loss and his belief in god was the only thing that kept him going. Maybe he was one of those people who use ther idea of god to feel superior to the 95%. In the first case Hitchens should have shown more compassion, in the second case he could have used a different argument, not as flashy, but I think more powerful.

Become a champion of reality, so that you, and yours can live in true freedom from the abomination of judgement, and damnation for the most innate, and natural thoughts and behavior in favor of clarity and astonishment at the glories of an open reasonable mind in an expanding universe of possibilities? That is the essence of freedom and true morality, to be responsible for your own logic, and behavior, based on the highest truth through the filter of your own mind. Why not you? We are, all of us a singularity, ready for expansion in the ocean of time, and all that is possible. And nobody ever said that only religious people commit evil acts.
      The difference is that religious evil is based on literally nothing and thus even more foolish. Stalin was a monster, but at least he didnt pretend to be righteous in his evil deeds. He was just a bad person.
      If you commit genocide for the ressources of a country you are monster. If you commit genocide on a people in the name of a delusion and for no gain you are a stupid monster.
      Hitchens is right, religion at its core is evil. Cases of good things religion has done are always outweight by the bad. If religion didnt exist, evil wouldnt go away, but it would be starkly reduced and become easier to reason with.

    • @johncommers9597
      @johncommers9597 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Evil comes from religion is a nonsensical statement, it comes from the hearts of human beings. Christianity commands its adherents to love your neighbor as you love yourself and also to love your enemies. CHRIST never promoted the hurting of anyone, the churchmen who have done wrong have done so of their own accord not because it was a Christian mandate. No matter what Hitch said, the Atheistic regimes of Pol Pot, Stalin, Mao and Kim Sung to name a few have destroyed more lives than all the crusades combined.

      @@amywatson2066 This is a LONG reply. If you choose to reply by saying, "Sorry, you wrote too much," that says everything I need to know about some people thinking that issues like this can be boiled down to a content-less soundbite. You're free to not read it, if you like.
      The ONLY thing that your comment does is reveal much about the life you've already led, your lack of understanding of not just history in general but specifically the history of religion, the relationship of religions & government, the various tools used by which religious "devotees" to silence a counter-argument that have NOTHING to do with content or logic, how manipulatively attempts at humor are used to attempt to bring the religious person & Hitchens together when there is no (common) ground in the sea of immortality...
      A "rude loud person with zero value in his points"? Again, it's easy to make comments like "his points had zero value" without elaborating. I'm sorry if you feel that someone pointing out that the Catholic Church made a deal with Hitler to not stand in the way of his taking complete control of government is a point of "zero value." I'm sorry if you feel that his pointing out that circumcisions are painful, dangerous, reduce sexual pleasure, provide no medical benefit to children/men and are not a laughing matter is a point of "zero value" to you. I'm sorry if you feel like his pointing out that the Catholic Church actually TOOK A MAJOR PART in urging the Hutus of Rwanda to persecute & mass-slaughter their Tutsi brothers & sisters and that the church should apologize for it is a point of "zero value." (This one in particular leads me to believe that you've never read a history book in your life...by the way, the Rwandan Genocide, which describes the wholesale slaughter of almost a million Rwandans, was not even 30 years ago.) I'm sorry if you think his point that the Catholic Church telling gay people that they're not welcome in their church while continuing to cover up or excuse or wish to move on from the mass-molestations & torture of masses of children by priests is, at the very least, incredibly hypocritical is a point of "zero value."
      "Loud"? "Rude"? Uh...he's not yelling. He's not swearing or calling anyone vulgar names. He's being forthright. I don't really know how to sugarcoat descriptions of mass-murder or collusion with genocidal dictators. I guess you think it's rude that he dared tell Hannity to stop talking over him if Hannity is going to ask him a question? Did you notice how when Greg Gutfeld at least had the decency to let him speak, Hitchen was courteous in return?
      No, it's not the manner that offended you. It was the message. It's so easy to attack a messenger if the very message offends you.

      @@eaaivazian well you’re just as rude as him if not more. You’re here assuming I haven’t read this or know anything about that and your tone isn’t very friendly. Now I wouldn’t mind your attack if you made a valid point. I am starting to see the pattern though. The blind leading the blind and this is why you people like his videos. I watched a few of his videos and they were all bad. For this video the first point was if he met God then would tell God that there was not enough evidence, is a stupid point. Literally Everything is the evidence of God. It’s the dumbest argument I’ve ever heard. You can’t define the word God without saying He is The Creator of everything. His second scene he outright told a guy from the audience that his question was the stupidest question that he has ever heard. That’s very rude to say to someone asking a question in a big crowd like that and being recorded. The third scene he literally attacked that poor rabbi with lies! Circumcision doesn’t cause death lol now has there people that got a surgeries and died from wounds getting infected? Yes of course! And circumcision is no exception. More people die from eating bubble gum than people dying from circumcision. He stunned the poor rabbi with his loudness and made it sound like people really die from it. Lies! I can keep going. He didn’t have a single good point.
      Now to the none sense that you were saying sorry to break it down to you but everything you’re trying to argue is irrelevant. Sure people use religion for bad, get over it nobody is arguing that. People use chemistry for bad but do we say chemistry is bad? Of course not. The thing is if you listen to this idiot and you think he is intelligent, then clearly you’re not either. You’re trying to argue irrelevant none sense. Who cares what an organization has done? I’m talking atheism vs theism. Did he have one good argument against god? No zero, in fact his ideas are too weak. Before we argue specific religions we better of debate God. I’m not a Christian by the way but my point is it does NOT matter if the Catholic Church is horrible in your opinion. Bad people will do bad things even with the best of things.
