- This is a hoshizaki ice machine cleaning video. This hoshizaki ice machine was at a bakery and was so dirty that it stopped working. I took the ice machine apart, cleaned it and put it back together. Cleaning it was all that was needed to fix it.
The dirtiest machine i ever cleaned was a manitowoc inside of a "Elk Lodge", black mold everywhere inside the machine, water trough, evaporator, deflector and bin. Took me 6 hours to clean and sanitize it. Customer couldnt believe his eyes when i was removing parts from the machine. Then i got the classic " i didnt know you have to clean them response". They invited me to come back for drinks on the house but i declined 🤣🤣🤣
That’s funny. Weird that I’ve also been to a couple elks lodges that were in pretty rough shape. Where are you working?
@IceMachine411 We are based out of Winter Garden, Florida. I was a PM guy for a couple of years and then took over as service Manager when our previous one passed away. I found your channel a while back and still watch your videos to see how you diagnose and fix issues I didn't run into when I was in the field. I actually have my current PM guy watching your videos as well so he can see the different things he could run into while servicing a machine. I think it's awesome that you film and explain everything the way you do. We do a lot of work with Hoshizaki, Manitowoc, Follett, scotsman and Vogt ice machines among other AC and refrigeration equipment
I’m really glad you’re finding these videos helpful. I do pm work on ice machines basically every day so I’m hoping you keep on sharing videos.
Great Video. Thank you for sharing. Have a nice weekend
Thanks. I tried my best.
I guess the last 5 health inspectors never checked the bin. You earned your money on that one!
True. 👍
Panera bread must likely. The yeast absolutely decimates these hoshi's.
It’s a bakery. Not Panera though.
I don't know why, but Fridays are when I get the worst machines. Plugged bins, and frozen evaporaters, and machines that look like they're making ectoplasm from Ghost Busters.
lol. I need to go back to expecting the worst. That’ll help it seem like an easy day.
@@IceMachine411 😄
looks like the mario movie
lol. It was its own ecosystem.
If possible, I usually fill up a sink with cleaner for the parts while i scrub the unit. This helps you scrub less on the parts.
I’ll have to try this out again. I stopped doing this because it didn’t seem to save me much time. Definitely worth revisiting though.
Nice job , why don’t they build these ice machines with a service timer . Say every six months the machine will stop running and require a technician to reset ? This is obviously a health issue .
Some do. Not this manufacturer, tho. Owners can do the minimum. This would be to just run cleaner and sanitizer while wiping down what they see. Somehow, they believe it is a waste of money until the health department comes or someone gets sick. If you are sick after a restaurant, the dirty ice with unfiltered water may be the reason.
Yup. Exactly right. Once the machine gets closed up it’s forgotten about until it gets so dirty it stops working.
How many years has it been like that nasty
It may not have been that long. This is at a bakery. I told the customer to clean it every month.
👍👍👍
💪🛠️
Hey boss, where are you located?
Out in Cali
Did You Clean The Condenser Coils As Well?
Very good point. I did not clean the condenser. The condenser was already clean and clear of all dust and debris. I should have pointed that out. Good catch.
What's the best way/method to clean ice machine coil reducing the use of water ?
Use compressed air and a brush. Be very gentle with the coil. Do not damage it or the machine will not work.
Very nasty 😂
Definitely in the top ten slimiest.
OMG 🤮🤮🤮🤢
For real 😳
crap
Yup. That was rough.
