Hello Jeremy, once I upgrade to the GAME Sandpro75D filter it worked like I think it needed to work. According to my instructions (Bestway 18' pool from Sams Club, same thing) Port A is the pump inlet and ports B are the outlets. Did you hook your pump up backwards to the pool? (It probably doesnt matter) Thanks

The reducer plug goes into the other B port. If the skimmer is not working then I would try plugging that port with one of the plugs that came with the pool. If the skimmer still does not work then your pump is to small. That was the issue with the little pump that came with my pool. Let me know how it turns out. Thanks
@@papawsplace I have a 800 gal sand filter. Its working quite well. Not creating a vortex but it seems powerful enough to skim the surface. I'm just confused when to use it. I cant use it with the solar cover on and when people are in it.
Can you undo the hose that goes to the bottom of the skimmer and hook up a normal pool vacuum to it? I was just wondering because it has the adapter that you would need to be able to vacuum a pool and in pools with a built-in skimmer that's how you vacuum a pool but you put it in through the top. So I was just curious... 😁 Also I have a 16x48 Intex it came with the pump that is round on one side and has a little hump part on the other side did yours come with a pump like that or did yours come with just the little round part that holds the filter?
I've never hooked the hand vacuum up that way. I use the little pump that came with the pool to hand vacuum. It's the little round style with the paper filter.
same size cartridge pump came with my 24' pool, i hooked it up and it burned up within an hour. i now have a 19" sand filter pump, that is 1.5 hp. i dont even know why they bother selling them
The direction is a picture only and it does not explain anything only a picture. After doing research online the reducer plug is to put in the 2nd B port (water going from pool to Pump) I assume if a persons pump is to small you can reduce the 2nd port to help the skimmer get more suction through the port it in to make the skimmer work. I need to put a comment on the video...Thanks
I know I should have made another video on the skimmer. I put in the description below the video ( after doing further research) it goes in the Other Port B hole. If your pool has two Port Bs ( water going from pool to the pump) If your pool only has one port B then you don't use it. Even if you have two Port B's and your pump is big enough that the skimmer is working good you don't have to use the reducer plug.

I commented on a video this morning about this skimmer I dk you did a video on it. I coincidentally got my hooked on w no problem this afternoon after trying 2 hours last night. Are you familiar w pumps that you buy separately? I have a Harris pump, I unplugged mine today and plugged it back up a few minutes later and it didn’t turn back on. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer!!
That don't sound good. First let me ask few questions / statements. If you have it hooked to an extension cord and the cord is to small OR the cord is to long it can affect the amount of power going to the pump. The pump has to get the proper amount of electricity to run. If not it will burn the motor up (so to speak) The longer the cord the bigger the cord has to be. If your not running off of an extension cord and the pump is new I would send it back. Something is not right. Also never run a pump with out water / hooked up to the pool. It will also burn the motor up.
@@papawsplace I do have it hooked up to an extension cord and it is long. I haven’t ran it without water at all. So you think the cord is possibly too long therefore working too hard to get the power and burned the motor up? Is there a way to find out if it is actually burned up? Do you know why it would work though until I unplugged it? I’m sorry so many questions. 😔
I would plug your Ports A & B remove the pump and take it over to your electrical plug and try it without the extension cord. If it comes on don't let it run long (just a second). If does not come on Look in the manual and see if the pump has a reset button somewhere. If it doesn't have a reset button and it does not run while not on extension cord then IDK that's all I know to try.
@@papawsplace I went out there this morning and plugged it up and it’s working fine. I tried hooking the hose from the skimmer to Part B. The water level dropped in the basket of the pump and the suction dropped significantly. The jet basically stopped shooting water out as well. It's made for Intex pools and it did not fit my pool perfect. I'm not sure what the railing on your pool looks like so you may have to get creative maybe use a ZIp Tie.
Did you eventually get this working with your new pump? I have this skimmer and hooking up tomorrow but I also have a way bigger pump . I just want to know if you ever got the skimmer to work and if I should put the reducer in the other b port when i do hook it up:) I love your videos they have helped me sooo much!!
Thank you very much. Yes it works good with my sand filter pump. If you have a bigger pump you may not need the reducer in the other b port but I would try it both ways and see how much difference it makes.
Hey I have a question so I put my skimmer together and have a .75 sand pump that I bought separately ( not the pump with pool) but there is zero suction. Two things though I can’t seem to get the valve pushed all the way in to the b port inside the pool. Could that be the problem? Is there a flow thing at the bottom of these that should be open or is it that I need the stopper thing in the other b port? I’m so confused as to why this isn’t working but it’s a toss up between not enough HP or that I can’t get the skimmer blue valve thing pushed all the way in??? Please help!!
I assuming when you say Valve Thing your referring to the skimmer hose / fitting that sticks into port B hole. If so, it will not stick all the way in on this pool. And yes you need to put the reducer stopper into the Other Port B Hole. Even when you do this your not gonna have a lot of suction with this size of pump but if it enough to suck water over the top of ( the Blue Floating Part) skimmer as trash floats by it will catch it in the basket. This Intex Skimmer is made for Intex Pools is why it's not the perfect fit. Mine does not have a lot of suction but it catches trash and bugs. I'm betting when you put the reducer plug in it will work.. 👍
@@papawsplace ok and yes I am referring to the valve but when you screw the light blue valve into the grey valve head it’s the one that comes with the pool so shouldn’t it fit all the way. I can see bubbles floating up fro The port bc the grey part doesn’t go all. The way in . I’ll try the reducer though. Can input the reducer in with water above the port level or so I need to drain this? I’m assuming I can just tie the hose upright to the pool do it doesn’t pour out? Sorry for all the confusing questions !!!!
Correct, but I had the other port plugged off to show that the little pumps that come with the pool will not suck enough to make the skimmer work like it should. I got a sand filter pump after this video and it has been working fine ever since. Thanks for the comment.
at 5:39 you mention you have a vague direction about the reducer plug. That is actually a Drain plug and not a reducer. It is used for when you need to disconnect the hoses on the outside of the pool to stop drainage flow. If that is in there you have zero flow to the pump.
How is this skimmer working out for you? I've been reading some bad reviews on it. But reviews on sites are a dime a dozen and you have no idea who posted it.
Hello Mr. PAWK, This skimmer has been working well for me BUT I have the GAME Sandpro75D Sand filter /pump. This skimmer did not work with the little pump that came with the pool. The pump just can't suck enough water for the skimmer to work the way it's designed to work. @@tekjunkie28 I tried that and the hoses collapsed, so I had to remove the reducer. We are using our sand filter from our old Johnny Weissmuller pool. It lasted 25 years and we didn't want to pay over $6,000 to have another aluminum pool put in. So we bought the Colman the same size for $500 :-)

So of course I unhooked the skimmer and after less than a minute the basket filled up in the pump. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m going to call Harris Customer Service today. Thanks for responding to all of my comments 😁
Your very welcome.
Where did you order your new pump from?
From Amazon. There is a Amazon Link in the description below to pool related items.
@@papawsplace OK cool, I forget they sale everything under the sun on there. I installed that same intex skimmer earlier today and was wondering what I did wrong until I found your video, I got the exact pool with that tiny little pump, kinda like buying a Camaro with a 6 cylinder or maybe 4 cylinder, anyway thanks for the video and reply.
Yes Sir this pool is entirely to big for that pump they sell with it.
@@papawsplace they say swimming in chlorine is horrible for us and I did it for years but had a pool for a while that had a big ball full of sand and something else that made a natural chlorine, I don't remember all the details but I'm goon try to get that same set up again.
Was it a salt water pool?
I can’t keep the blue liner in the skimmer at all. It just floats back up.
You need to raise the basket part up. That is the screw on the front of the bracket, loosen it/ raise the basket then tighten it back.
The white basket should be about an inch below the water line the blue section will float a bit above the water line..
I keep mine around 3" because of all the rain and evaporation. I don't have to adjust it so often. Thanks for your comment. God Bless!
@@papawsplace I have this on my pool works great! What type of vacuum do you use in your pool?
Polaris65. here is a video th-cam.com/video/RrWd8YcQX2U/w-d-xo.html and there other videos in my playlist under Pool Related..Thanks
I can't get the skimmer to stay on my best way pool at all
It's made for Intex pools and it did not fit my pool perfect. I'm not sure what the railing on your pool looks like so you may have to get creative maybe use a ZIp Tie.
I feel like Coleman pools are deeper than Sam's club pools even though they have the same size
Hello Ms. Catherine, They may be, some may measure to the water level, and some may measure to the top of the rail.
My pump keeps pulling air in the basket
Try not using the reducer plug if you have it installed.
I can see bubbles floating up fro
The port bc the grey part doesn’t go all. The way in . I’ll try the reducer though. Can input the reducer in with water above the port level or so I need to drain this? I’m assuming I can just tie the hose upright to the pool do it doesn’t pour out? Sorry for all the confusing questions !!!!
@@papawsplace also I put reducer in and then the GREY Fitting correct ?
It was probably so tight because there's a screw in the side of it🤣
You are so funny. 🤔🤣🤣 Thank you Rachel. I needed a good laugh.
You need to check your green water 😂
It's a shame we have to pay for water that looked like that isn't it?
white part is too low in the water and the reduction plug goes inside your other screen
Correct, but I had the other port plugged off to show that the little pumps that come with the pool will not suck enough to make the skimmer work like it should. I got a sand filter pump after this video and it has been working fine ever since. Thanks for the comment.
i have a avenli 1000 gph sand filter not enough suction either so i ordered the 75d my wifes going to kill me but oh well
Once she sees how well it keeps the pool clean maybe she will forgive you. LOL
But I’m not using the one ur showing I’m using the other one.
👍
at 5:39 you mention you have a vague direction about the reducer plug. That is actually a Drain plug and not a reducer. It is used for when you need to disconnect the hoses on the outside of the pool to stop drainage flow. If that is in there you have zero flow to the pump.
No Sir, That is a Reducer Plug because it has a small hole in it. So it will not stop flow it reduces the flow...Thanks
Don't put that on the liner part of the top bar. It needs to go on the metal part of the top bar.
That's a good point Ms. Rhonda. I didn't mention that. Thanks!
And even with my Sandpro75d I have one of the Port B holes plugged (with the plug that comes with the skimmer. it has a little hole in it)
@@papawsplace I have a sand filter from our old pool that I'll be using.
The skimmer works great. just be sure to put the reduction plug on the other port that is not connected to the skimmer
@@tekjunkie28 I tried that and the hoses collapsed, so I had to remove the reducer. We are using our sand filter from our old Johnny Weissmuller pool. It lasted 25 years and we didn't want to pay over $6,000 to have another aluminum pool put in. So we bought the Colman the same size for $500 :-)
Rinky Dink ass pump... Ive got the exact same pool and pump. Be better off getting out there with a straw😁🤣
Thanks for the Comment. That's why I am putting out these videos to let people know what to expect when they purchase a pool kit.
Between that darned screaming bird and that SLOW southern talk ...this whole thing could be done in 2 minutes flat
