All properties are expensive these days. Similar to how the US is currently.
San Benito, Santa tecla, Santa Elena are good areas because that’s where the new money is. I recently bought a house in escalón. Those are older houses like early 2000’s, that old money. All the areas I listed are basically central and they’re safe and secure areas.
Another place I really liked was Antibes residencial. They were the most modern houses or condos I’ve seen in San Salvador. You also have the option to design the interior to how you like it. They start from 150-350k. Some have a view of the volcano. The city’s growing do something and grow with it.
what is the process to buy a property in these areas
@@hugomoran6854 I’m not sure what the process is for a non citizens of El Salvador. My wife is a citizen here so she did all the paperwork. The guy we bought the house from lives in the US so he wanted payment there. I wired him the money from my account in the US.

The guy forgot to mention the interest rates in El Salvador. We went last month to Banco Agricola when we visited to get info. The interest rates are from 18% and up, which is crazy!!! NOT IDEAL AT ALL! That’s even if you’re a Salvadoran with dual citizenship/residency.
Our Airbnb host said she was charged 22% interest. You have to at least put 25% down. El Salvador still has a way to go in that regard. In DR, foreign investors are only charged 8%.

I wont recomend remax, i had a really bad experience, and at the end me being overseas, They just called me to say house was sold to someone else, after a few moths me getting all papers, even paid some bills for the house to have everything clear and in place.
This guys seems genuine, but who knows.
