it was one few anime done in full 24 fps for the movie. if this came out in the West at the time it would sweep the awards. its shame it stayed hidden for years and still held hostage by HG
nostalgic. I went to see it early in the morning on the opening day. I love it so much that even when I watch it now, I still remember most of the lines. Valkyrie is my favorite transforming robot.
I bought the videotape a little after it was released. The animation never fades, even after so many years. It's on par with the live-action Thunderbirds marionation. It's the pinnacle of hand-drawn animation. I'm a Japanese living in Japan, and I'm happy and honored that people overseas have appreciated Macross.

Retkus - the Female Power armor - Quendlun Rau is highly organic in the inside in DYRL , as opposed to Macross TV show . also in DYRL the Female Zentradi are called MELTRANDI , and males ZENTRADI which makes sense.
Retkus - when Rick & Lisa are Transported by the fold , they actually went to EARTH after the COMPLETE Bombardment and destruction of ALL LIFE on the Planet .
finally! So this considered the Cannon for events going forward as well as mechanical designs and Zentradi designs. the guy with the huge head is Exodol we get see him again in Macross 7. This version of the Macross with the ARMD carriers will be what you see going forward as well. tldr forget everything from the TV show and go off this. AND Block 2 VF-1 with side sticks and throttle transformation inplace of the silly leavers in the TV. The Hologram dress up will get see evolve later in Macross Frontier and Delta
Retkus - its confirmed in DYRL that KAIFUN is Minmay's OLDER brother & her Manager / Producer . when Minmay is captured she kisses KAIFUN on the mouth. in the Final Battle KIAFUN is producing Minmay's song and Broadcasting it .
Ratkus - the Zentradi in Macross DYRL is not speaking their own Language , its ESPREANTO sci-fy Language , but its easier to understand in Western / Latino audiences .
Ratkus - Macross DYRL is supposed to be a Retelling of Space War ONE from perspective of SDF-1 crew & Civilians. so do away with all the Anti-UN war stuff and the crash landing of Macross.
*Commenting on a video that is 10 days old* Ah yes, the narrator in Robotech. The narrator that explains everything. Even stuff that the audience can actually see on screen. All because of the fear of "IF THERE IS ANY SILENCE ON SCREEN, AUDIENCE WILL SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT CHANNEL!" I think the annoying over-explaining narrator is "quirk" of Carol Macek anime shows. I heard it is worse in Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years.

リン・ミンメイの声優だった飯島真理さんは現在アメリカに在住されてます。彼女のオリジナルソングアルバムが大好きでした。
この作品にはアイダホ州出身のケント・ギルバートという日本の芸能界で活動していたことのあるタレントが声優として出演しています。所々で聞く流暢な英語はおそらく彼の声でしょう。
マクロスシリーズはテレビシリーズは正史、映画版は作中内作品というルールができた最初の作品。映画の謳い文句が「リン・ミンメイ初主演映画！」というのだけど、実は本当にその通りという裏設定。
だから、テレビと映画で細かいストーリーが違ってても仕方ない！むしろ当然！ということらしい。
マクロス７でバサラとミレーヌでリメイクを撮影しようって話ありましたよね。

この2人って美沙と輝が食器を使って何故ままごとのような真似をしてるか、分かってるのかな？ずっとフォークが二股だ三股だ四股だ！と話してるけど。そうとう良いシーンなんだけど、このシーンが何を語ってるか気付いてない気がするのだけど。
TV版はアニメの出来が同年代の作品と比べてもあまりにも酷いので（素晴らしく動く回もありますが）、ほぼ思い出補正で良かったと思ってるとしか、、、
