30年以上前のアニメですが、日本のアニメでも最高傑作と言われてる作品です。
ルパンシリーズを知らない人でも楽しめるので、海外の人にこの作品をもっと見てもらいたいです。
すみませんが、最後の文の「この昨日」ってのは何でしょうか？？カリオストロの城の前の話があるんでしょうか？？
昭和５４年の作品なんで、公開からもう４３年たちますね。
「カリオストロの城」(1979)「あしたのジョー2 」(1981)「ビューティフル・ドリーマー」(1984)・・・昭和を彩った作品達。
この時代、大衆性、面白さ、映像技術でこの辺の作品に勝てる作品は今後生まれないなんて思っていたものだったが、結果を見ると新たな作品が次々に生まれ当時では不可能だった映像技術も数々生まれた事を思うと感慨深い。しかしながら今見ても手描きの良さも捨てがたいと思わせる作品ですね。

1979年の12月、まだ小学校の6年生、中学に入る前、
新宿の“新宿ロマン”という古臭い映画館に行き、ロードショーで見ました。
年末の寒い夜でしたが、見終わって2時間、自宅に帰った後でも興奮が冷めず、
また、暖かな気持ちが数日続いたことを覚えています。
日本では何度もTV放映され、それ以上に何度も見ている作品ですが、
色褪せず楽しめるクラシック・ジャパニメーションと思います。
数年前、4DXでリバイバル公開されたときも迷わず映画館まで行きました。
改めて良い作品を良いリアクションで紹介していただき、感謝します。
話は変わりますが、かつて、ダークホース・マガジン社の創業者が東京の駒沢に住んでいた時、
この作品を知って深く感銘を受けたという話を何かで読んだ覚えがあります。
昔のアメリカで販売されたVHSでは“ルパン”は“Wolf”と名前を変えられていたと記憶していますが、
今はアメリカでもヨーロッパでも“ルパン”は“ルパン”なんですね。
“怪盗ルパン”作者の家族と和解ができて良かったです。
やはりルパンは、TVシリーズ初期のグリーン・ジャケットが一番見ていて落ち着きます。

As he's previously told, he flew, dried the lake water, stole the treasure in the high tower. Even if he couldn't get anything in his own hands. But that must be what life is.

It's almost impossible to pick my favorite part- but that Car chase at the beginning is incredible.
Such a fantastic blend of slap-stick physics and intricate detail.

It is said that the Lupin we see is Lupin in disguise and only Fujiko knows his true form.

This was one of the first Anime films I ever saw, way back in the early 90s. Got off to a good start didn't I...

This film was made in the 1970s.
I was 7 years old at the time and I remember being very moved by it. I still think it is one of the best movies that has left a deep impression on me, but it is a pity that it is not well known outside of Japan.
起承転結や物語の進み方の緩急、キャラ立てや間の取り方に細かなコメディ要素と、とにかく一本の映画作りに於いてすべての面が高水準。古い作品だけど古臭さは感じない、老若男女、なんなら国籍さえ問わず多くの人に勧められる名作だわ。
This was Miyazaki’s directorial debut, and supposedly the twilight of Lupin III’s life/career.
You selected a classic excellent anime. This anime was aired on TV so many times for decades.
And each time, it recorded high viewership.
It's the anime you want to come back and re-watch, first as a kid and later with your kid.

I watched this movie because I wanted to watch Hayao Miyazaki's work and this got me into the Lupin lll universe/franchise which spans 50 years!! Now I've watched so many Lupin movies with the gang and had a lot of fun. I recommend you do the same, it's the best time. If you want to watch something new, they put out a really well animated Lupin movie called "Lupin lll: The First" in 2019 I believe, I totally recommend it. I watch the English dub the most because they are my favorite voice actors for Lupin characters.

「炎のたからもの」を聞くたびに何故か故郷の母親の愛のような暖かい気持ちになるんだよ。

The sad part is that this is the one and only time we get to see Clarisse as the purest character that fell for Lupin.
In the English dub from 2000s "My thief, we'll meet again one day i know it" hits pretty hard when you ship both her and lupin." Although this line was actually CORRECT when a Lupin game from the 90s(?) makes her appearance one more time, after being told that she was kidnapped once again in Egypt only to find her safe with Fujiko cooperating with her if it means to meet Lupin again. You could say Clarisse didn't give up her proposal of going with Lupin and his adventures as a thief and will take any chance she gets to be with him.
The plot of that game Fujiko revisited her again as a way of getting Lupin's attention since he was elsewhere doing the usual thief job around the world, forcing him to stop what his doing and run to where Fujiko told him to meet and help her find a treasure in Egypt with a little surprise waiting for him at the meet up.
In anime, that will be the last time she'll see the man she loved. sad really when you think about the possible relationships between the two but the world they belong won't allow it and the blood Lupin runs in his veins as the 3rd successor of the family puts him as a traveler around the world taking on any challenge for him to claim the treasures behind it.
Purest character known to the Lupin universe and a Filthy but gentleman thief that everyone loves.
Cannot believe he made this movie in just 4 months.

A wrong translation in the subtitle. Clarisse said "Lupin, I know we will meet again." Not "we'll never meet again."

But did you notice that Jigen left with Clarice's crown on his head?
So Japan anime fans half-jokingly point out, "They stole her crown."

Sumi Shimamoto, who played Clarice, also played the heroine in the later Lupin III TV series directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and later played Nausicaa.😊
Also, Shimamoto Sumi, who is now a veteran voice actress, said that she only found out that she had passed the audition for the role of Clarice when she came home from a part-time job.😅

"Archduke" is not name for a parson. It's a title of Great Roman Empire, like a King or Prince. And the villain isn't Archduke. His name is Lazare de Cagliostro, and his title is "Count".
Clarisse's father was Archduke.
"Lupin the 3rd" franchise started in Manga was 1967, written and illustrated by Monkey Punch. And the Anime series was started in TV was 1971, and it's still going on.

These sorts of stories probably weren't uncommon, back in the day... It's possible that Miyazaki borrowed this from here for Laputa, although, since he's listed as one of the writers, it may just be him reusing the same idea... But yeah, I don't think it was a unique idea for this film either... It may have been seen as a classic story trope even back when this released...
Lupin III is quite a popular manga/anime, if I remember correctly... There are multiple series and movies available, including more recent ones... This one might be my favourite though... It's probably the highest in quality... That said, every Lupin III movie/special I've seen has been a good time... Whether it's searching for ancient treasure, stealing the Statue of Liberty or getting into a fight with a 10,000 year old brain that plans to nuke the planet... Something like that lol. It's been a while, I forget...
I believe Lupin is somewhat based on a French literary character, Arsene Lupin, or he is meant to be related to him (hence being the third)... This caused some copyright issues when it was first dubbed in English, causing them to have to remove references to Lupin's name... I think they changed his name to Wolfy or something lol. I kinda miss the old dub, although the newer one might be more faithful to the original Japanese... I forget... Not that it matters if you're watching it subbed instead of dubbed... I first watched it on TV though (Sci Fi channel, I think... They used to show anime films late at night here, in the UK), so I didn't have a choice at the time... Either way, always a good time ^_^;;

I don't like people who talk for the sake of talking and not concentrating on understanding and enjoying the film. They talk a lot, miss a lot, and miss the point.
