TORQUE MONSTER - NEW 20V XR DeWalt Mid Torque Impact Wrench Review [DCF891]

  • This new ‪@dewalttv‬ DCF891 Mid-Torque Impact Wrench looks just like the older DCF894. However, once you pull the trigger, you realized it's been souped up substantially. This is an XR 20V Max tool, so you get the brushless motor driven by the 20-volt MAX batteries. There are 3 different power modes that deliver up to 2,000 RPM and 3,000 IPM (Impacts Per Minute) through the variable speed trigger. A 4th mode is called Precision Wrench mode which stops the tool for a brief second once the fastener is snug, and it slows the DCF891 once it senses the fastener is loose. DeWalt includes a 3-year warranty with this new Mid-Range impact wrench and the bare tool will cost about $250.

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

Seems like a good all purpose tool. My father in law as the Milwaukee 2767 high torque and it’s great but he has broken a few things with it because of the power. Dude I gotta say when you run one of those New Power Stack battery's hard and you expect to lose a bar that thing is always toped off it seems like It would be cool if you added a shorts video of the 5 AMP Flat Stack going against this again and running it as long as it takes on the 1000 foot pounds

Can anyone answer the max torque in setting #1 , and or #2? I put some lugs on in setting #1, we went down the street and they were a little loose. I thought I read or heard setting #1 was 100lbs-ft 🎉 perhaps not, I had to re torque them all. A precise 100lbs-ft tq in setting 1 would be really nice to get wheels real close and not over torque

I have one and it lives up to the hype. My only regret was getting the hognose ring version. It is extremely hard to get sockets off until it's broken in some. But it was cheaper than the detent model by $30. Worth the tradeoff.
As for power, it pulled a lag bolt out of a shipping container. It even broke the spot welds off the bolthead when using a 6Ah battery. Great product if you don't need the full 1400lbft of the DCF900 but want the best DeWalt for most jobs.

Would you say it’s good for doing automotive work? would it break an axle nut on a car? I don’t think I need the 900b because that seems overkill.

@@TakeThis_L definitely. I used it to swap my wheels and tires the other day and it made short work of the lugs.

Believe it or not the DCF891 draws more current than the DCF899. Testing it with the 5ah XR battery and lower most certainly left some performance on the table.

Gotta try it with the dcb206 or dcb208 20v 6ah version not flexvolt 6 ah and 8ah and see if that 1000 ft lbs is more reasonably attainable. Either way very impressive. I already got my dcf891 with a free dcb240 from acme tools for $249

I’m very impressed with this new tool I’ve actually purchased it myself The only bad thing is it broke within the first week of using it at work I work at a tire shop I brought it to the store and exchange it for a new one and it took a couple months but it broke also I’m not sure but is it self-destructing itself because it’s so much more powerful ??????????

No difference. The "b" just tells you that you're buying a bare tool. The DCF891P2 means you're buying the tool with 2 batteries and a charger (kit). Thanks for watching.

Awesome test, but I have to correct you about something, the power of 4ah packs. 21700 cells are of course stronger, but not by double. So a single row of 4ah 21700 is weaker (35A cont) than 2x2ah 18650 (2x23A cont or 46a in total). 3Ah 21700's are a different story, they are in 40-50A range. Also 5ah pack is slightly weaker than 4ah (40A vs 46A). There are even stronger 2ah 18650 cells, which are in 6ah flexvolt

I have a Makita TD002 impact driver (its similar to the GDT001, but the newer model, not available in US) with the 4.0AH 40V battery and it weighs 4lb 9oz with that beast of a battery. I was going to get the 2.5AH but the 4.0 was only $10 more ($139 vs $149, thats a helluva deal for a 4.0AH, got it on Overstock!). Oops!
