    For C10’s, I like to use the 87 model fuel tank since it has the pan in the bottom for the fuel pump to set in. 87 was the last year for the square body & the first year for fuel injection, so it has the appropriate sending unit to hang a pump on. For LS swaps, the pump from the 96-98 5.7 Vortec engines works perfect, but any Aeromotive or Walbro pump will work. Also, the Wix 33737 filter has a built in regulator set to 58psi & built in return. Not sure how much the hemi needs, but I have used them for 500hp LS engines.

    • @markdyer6166
      @markdyer6166 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All great advice. The Wix 33737 (stock for 2000 Corvette) supplies 58 psi which as I understand a gen 3 Hemi wants 58-60 so this is a good easy way to do the fuel regulator and have a filter available anywhere. I used it on a 2000 Explorer 5.0 swap in an old Mustang. I would have used the stock charcoal canister for vent and used canister purge. Also it is easy to make fuel injection lines with factry style ends with a Mastercool tool (and it does brake line flares in 1 step). I like rubber floor in these as it is easier to keep clean.

Put some of that boom mat type stuff from LMC and the carpet pad looking stuff. Then on top of that layed down some good harness leather for flooring. Made a world of difference in noise and heat in the cab. Maybe overkill but nothing is tougher than good quality leather for flooring, especially for a work truck.

      He could put some Lizard skin down too. They make sound deadening and heat resist. Place the rhino on top and all is good.

    Howdy Derek, I used to work as an electronic tech for about 30 years. In that time we tried all kinds of things to make our work faster and did some minor studies on time/efficiency. One product that we used were some battery powered electric screwdrivers. We tried different brands and the best we found were the Panasonic EY7410LA2S Cordless Screwdriver. They work great, last a long time, and held up very well compared to other brands. I'd send ya one but they are a bit spendy. I saw you remove the screws out of the dash panel and thought your time spent would have been cut by 70%. Great work... Like seeing the boss in action.She needs to keep some tight reins on you! Take care!

    Love the fact you're doing the hemi swap! I worked for a C,J,D dealership for 16.5 yrs & love those Mopars! I think it would be cool to put 1 into a 67 to 72 C10 that's laid out on air ride. Thanks for all your hard work on these videos!!

    Ol Travis Tritt played a outdoor concert about a couple blocks from my house tonight. So I guess that is what he was up too. I stuck a guys timing tuner devices outside every once and a while to take a listen.

    I just discovered this channel, and I love it. Mechanic noises with accompanying footage. Inspiring and enjoyable. And I have to say, I love that truck - just the kind of boxy design that I like.

    hey Derek, I actually used a bedliner for the inside of my K5 blazer I had years ago. it was the roll on type and it seemed to work really well! just a thought.

      Dangit ... I've seen a few trucks with bedliner on the floorboards, works fairly well as long as it's put on correctly. Don't know if it's cheaper than the vinyl though.

      @@battlehymn6389 I also put it on the floor of my 1975 Granada I had several years ago. it was only like 125 bucks for the kit! came with everything to apply it! it worked really really well and it had like an orange peel look to it. not all gritty like some spray on stuff that's out there.

    Looking at your pump only suspended by plastic I immediately thought of some drama I experienced. I had a pump module where the pump was only suspended by a hose. It fell off about 4 hours from home with a full (22 gals) tank of fuel. Thankfully, I found a shop that would drop the tank and get me running. Now that pump is mounted securely with stainless clamps to a metal bracket attached to the upper mounting ring. I also added a small trap door in my trunk bottom to get access to the pump without dropping the tank.
