I use a hair dryer to heat up the chain, maxima calls for your chain to be warm first, it applys great.

after talking to a bike mechanic, I clean my chain with diesel fuel and cheap rags. for lube I use chain lube from auto parts store or wal Mart....

Hey 32Tdub are your rims powder coated? Does the purple power mess up the powder coat? I'm looking to clean my chain before this upcoming summer & am getting my Rims, Sprocket & other parts powder coated and would like to know if the purple power would harm it.

No it hasnt hurt the powder coat, but I wouldnt let it sit too long without water. One thing you definitely dont want to sit on the coat is probably brake cleaner though.

But if you can find it, I'd suggest getting maxima chain cleaner. That stuff is amazing, takes all that grime off. Purple power will work in the meantime

+Frank Da Tank try diesel fuel or kerosene, no worries there

if you are not sure if it would damage your finish, put cardboard around the chain and on the tires to protect them

Better than WD-40. Plus read the last comment I made on here. Thanks for the input though.

+32Tdub Why not just use Kerosene?

    • @32Tdub
      @32Tdub  8 ปีที่แล้ว

Well, I have heard that that might work too. But, if you can afford to get some I strongly recommend Motorex Chain Clean. It's usually around 12 bucks.

I only use white spirit/brake clean to wash and clean my chain.
Then chain wax to finish. Simple.

@Analog Human affordable is subjective to each and every person.
But I'm not sure why you're talking about fuel. However.. at one point diesel was more expensive?

Set bike on main stand or paddock stand.
    Run the engine,
    put in gear,
    release clutch lever,
spin rear wheel at 100rpm. Spray chain lube on chain as it passes. This is the only sensible way to lube a chain. Using chain wax.
