When your buttons wouldnt work, did you use remote play moboile app just before that?

My Mobile Hotspot is freaking horrible. Im here at work trying it out and its not working that good. Aloy comes in at 240p instead of 1080p lol. Plus it keeps kicking me out.
Maybe I should pay for the internet that my 2022 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack has. Maybe that will work better than my phones Hotspot

Mobile hotspot seems very ‘hit and miss’, I think a lot has to do with location and having a very strong signal 🤷
That’s why I just think it’s better off with the ps portal being it’s own console and you could just connect your account and be able to download games for it

@@KingLouieXD the current design of the portal is extremely lean, it's essentially nothing but a controller and a screen. Meanwhile, the PS5 itself is absolutely gigantic because that's how much space it takes to accommodate all the hardware needed to run games, including not just the GPU, CPU, and RAM, but the cooling system and the robust power supply needed to run everything. Just imagine strapping all that onto the back of the Portal; it would no longer be convenient.

Just glue a tablet onto your ps5. Then glue that onto a gas generator. Then glue all that onto a controller. Done

Have you tried online gaming with the rog ally off of a 5g hotspot from a phone? I want to pick up the rog ally for cod mw3 since I’m a trucker but idk if 5g from my iPhone will cut it
Hi Pete, is your connection using NAT2 or NAT3 ? My mobile HotSpot always provides NAT3 and with NAT3 Portal seems not to work?

Hey Jake, if you followed the steps in this vid and it still doesn't work, then I'm not sure - I've found the Portal to be pretty unreliable when trying to play away from home unfortunately 😪

Great question! I haven’t tried this, but I’d imagine even though it will prob work performance won’t be optimal eg there will be lag as PS5 console really DOES need to be connected to router via Ethernet - but can any viewers help? 🤔
Can your ps5 at home be on rest mode to do this or does it need to be on all the way?
Hey Ricky, yes PS5 just needs to be on rest mode at all times to remote play whenever we want 👍

Android galaxy S22 with 5g coverage but would not connect at all after several attempts. Actually, I have the newer xreal glasses allowing full screen visuals in front of my eyes plugged into a S7 plus tablet. Even run great headphones along with the woojer 3 haptic feedback vest all running bluetooth. And so running that set up, it actually blows the portal experience into dust. I think some on this post should look into getting the woojer vest and xreal glasses hooking up via remote play to their phone or tablet. Promise it's insanely immersive!!! Even if ran from wifi, I'm probably selling the portal as there's no comparison in the whole visual & vibrational feedback experience my vest, glasses & ps5 controller provide through the PS remote app itself to be quite honest.

I have an AT&T standalone hotspot. When I connect the portal to the hot spot’s wifi and the ps5 to the home lan network, the portal does not connect to the system? I wannna be able to use my portal away from home but it isn’t working how I thought it would
Have you figure a way. I have T-Mobile 5g hotspot. It connects to the net but does not connect to portal if that makes sense

That’s weird Eagles - it’s the 14 Pro Max I’m using here in this vid that works pretty great! I’m on the NAT 2 setting which may make a difference…

Hey Zacek, yes I think you’re right - LTE is renowned as being much poorer signal than 5G and even 4G which I’m guessing just would not connect very well (if at all) to the Portal…

I connected at work during the night but it didnt activate my playstation on and got stuck in rest mode. Anyway restqrted everything went to the gym that was like 5miles away i parked up and connected to ps portal and it connected so played quite a few missions on spiderman 2. Now hoping it connects wilst im at work at night tonight. Not sure why it didnt activate it from rest mode

Short answer: a lot! You kind of need to be on an unlimited mobile data plan if you want to do 4G/5G to the Portal 👍
I just ran a speed test on my cellphones mobile Hotspot. I'm getting 814 mbs downloads with 9.84 uploads at work not connected to any network or wifi just using my cellphone provider. That's 186 mbs short of 1 gig a second. I have a 1 GBS internet at home. I don't even have an eithernet connection to my PS5. So far I haven't had to use port forwarding to use Chiaki away from home on my Ally or Legion GO.

I've tried every tutorial on connecting my portal to my hotspot and none of them work. This is very frustrating. I feel like selling my portal
Hey Dashi I understand your frustration 😪😪 Did you follow the steps closely from 1:51 onwards? And it still doesn’t work? Personally, I just think the Portal is too unreliable to use outside the home and gamers would be much better getting the Steam Deck OLED or ROG Ally for much better performance esp away from home…
@@PeteTalksTech it still doesn't which is a huge let down for me. I've been watching as many videos as I can find to see what others have been doing and it still doesn't work for me. It sucks big time and I'm probably going to sell my portal in the next few, days if I can't get it working. It's complete bullshit is what it is. I'll keep trying in the mean time

The problem is not the portal, it is your internet connection. If you have good internet , you can take your portal outside any where.
Nope 1000mbps and it still lags and it straight refuses to connect to my iPhone hotspot that gets a little over 328mbps
I fixed it- to connect your phone using hotspot connect using usb-c from phone to psp.

I’m with talktalk so not a fancy router , is TK Link Archer AX3000 any good and on iPhone I’m not on latest version as I don’t trust latest update specially when it comes to battery life
Yeah that should be good Vlad - just any decent router should be better than the very basic one provided by Talk Talk… I don’t think it will matter what iPhone update version we’re on 👍
@@PeteTalksTechThe only reason I’ve got the portal is so I can play in work, didn’t know would be impossible to get it working using my phone as hotspot. In the past I’ve used PlayStation remote play on laptop and worked yes lagging and not too stable but using PlayStation own device is worse. So not happy that I now need to buy a router , what if that won’t help either. I’ve managed once to get it working but wanted to change from wifi 2.4 to Ethernet and then it fucked up. When I put PlayStation in stand by mode the portal wakes it up but just doesn’t connect. I’ve got it from a private seller new on eBay , if it was from very since I’ve had a discount from them but found it cheaper on eBay might have returned it back by now.

Depends on how many gs you got I know the power went out here one night and I used x cloud that was similar to Netflix usage. GeForce now is crazy gig eating at times. Not sure about local streaming I assume that would be even less than x cloud?
In the US I have 5G on T-Mobile and get around 600mb/sec down and 100mb/sec+ upload, I bet that would work amazing with the portal. I need to find one now 😂
Ive actually been in some spots of town where I've had 1Gig/sec down. Crazy speeds in the Dallas area.

Be careful with this. I do have Verizon unlimited, but it will only let me use 20 GB of mobile hotspot. And from what I read about PS Remote Play, the standard mode will use about 2.5 GB per hour.

You're testing single player modes on the games. How is multiplayer mode for games that are 60hz? (I know games like cod and GTA will have poor online gaming)
Great question Heretic! With single player games being playable but not silky smooth over 4G/5G, I think any multiplayer games esp competitive like COD or Helldivers 2 over 4G/5G will be a pretty rough experience unless any viewers think otherwise? 🤔
