Correct me if I am wrong brothers; she definitely had a nice looking opinion or perceptive but definitely there are loop holes there as well. the loop hole I consider is this:
She mentioned we want animals to be bigger and healthy so for that we feed them more plants then usual and we as a whole consume more plants than we were supposed to . Now what if we stop killing animals then we will all as humans eat plants only and no animal will die by our hands, so we will be double consuming plants now than our usual consumption we had and in addition to that we are not killing animals (mostly grass and plant eating animals as Muslims) and there number would also be increasing and thus there consumption of plants would also increase. This definitely puts the condition of plants and our ecosystem in danger and ultimately there might not remain any plant and then we will start consuming animals for survival(as a necessity) . For animals it will be like "Our turn has come"

She says "why do you choose to eat meat?", Mansur answers "because I can devour it". There's a lot of things we can devour but we CHOOSE not to eat it. This whole discussion is fundamental to the believe in the existence of God the Creator. I would like to hear her argument if she argue with an atheist who is not vegan.
Allah allow us to consume certain plants and animals, who are we as His servants to deny His favor upon us? As believers, we don't act arrogant upon favors Allah's bestowed us.
However, it's not a sin if someone choose not to consume meat or plants because of certain reasons. Allah gave us plenty of choices of meats and plants for us to eat according to our taste, Allah gave us choices for us to enjoy, this is one of the pleasure on earth that Allah provided for us. Allah also sent prophets as examples for us on how to enjoy the pleasures He provided for us according to His will.

I think the right angle to go about this to try get her to explain how, why and where did she get the notion of value of animal life is equal to humans.. Or the value of plant life is lesser than an animal.... For eg, The law would punish me more severely if i abuse a child compared to a stray dog.. Brother Mansur should have just pointed out how it was pointless for her to mention how Islam doesn't require you to eat animals. Because her main argument is that we should not harm animals unnecessarily so we should not eat them unless we absolutely need to. Islam is different. It doesn't just allow you to eat animals out of necessity. It allows you to eat animals even when you want to. In Islam, the "out of necessity" ruling only applies to that which is otherwise unlawful--e.g., a pig. (Just so there is no confusion: you're only allowed to eat the pig to the extent that it saves your life.) So she should realize that the Islamic viewpoint and her viewpoint are two different viewpoints. And we believe that it is God that has given us this permission. In mentioning that Islam doesn't require you to eat animals, she is using it to cater to her Vegan beliefs. She is basically saying, "Since Islam doesn't require you to eat animals, you should, morally speaking, become a Vegan and not kill animals for food because that is the way a person should be!" But, in Islam, eating an animal after slaughtering it in the name of God and slaughtering it in the correct way IS morally correct. And we believe that God is the ONLY One that can give us objective morality. But she, with her subjective morality, is trying to convert us into thinking that slaughtering an animal (even IN THE BEST WAY) for the purpose of food is causing unnecessary harm. She can think that, but that is not what Islam says. According to Islam, you're not causing unnecessary harm. Unnecessary harm only comes in when discussing how the animals are being treated or how they are being treated just before and during the slaughter (and perhaps after as well...I don't know.) That is why the discussion will go nowhere and she can surely believe what she wants to believe. But it all comes down to the existence of God and objective/subjective morality and who decides what morality is. And I think she is avoiding that. Brother Mansur is correct, she is using emotion to make her arguments. I personally find it strange when an Atheist considers eating animals wrong. Wrong? When you're an Atheist, what IS wrong really...? Because a moral viewpoint is always going to be subjective if God doesn't exist. lol

This discussion will never end, except they solve it from the very fundamental issue which...is god exist or not? Because her point of "why causing unnecessary pain" is valid in term of morality. So lets not tackle this from moral point of view. The only way to say causing unnecessary pain is ok is by saying god allow us to do so. It is like i own something and you are stealing and immoral if you took that something without my permission. But it will be ok and not a crime and not immoral to do so if i give you permission to take it. So god own this world, own us and own animals...and he say we can eat animal and he designed our body to digest animal meat. So no issue of causing unnecessary pain anymore because the owner and the creator of the animal allow us to eat animal. Up to this point...the only beneficial discussion is by trying to convince her that there is a god and that god set the rules.
