I have many of them thru the shop. Might sound crazy but I've had over half ton on them and still work fine. I have a brake lathe sitting on 2 and a stage2 TH400 on another currently Lol
Love the LSA build. I have 3 suggestions. 1. Have you considered a breather to get rid of crankcase pressure now that the engine is boosted? 2. You can buy higher flowing 3/4” ZL1 lid manifolds from places like Dedicated Motorsports with AN fittings and put 90 degree fittings on for the cleaner hose running look that you are looking for. 3. On cars like my LSA 416ci CST-V, I run the blower coolant tank to pump, pump to bottom of lid brick manifold, top of lid brick manifold to the intercooler, from intercooler back to the coolant tank. Getting the hot coolant to the heat exchanger first will cool it down faster and should keep the coolant pump and tank cooler.
I'm happy to hear how much the LSA whines. I'm swapping my whipple 2.3 out for a ported LSA set up. The whipple absolutely screams, and I was going to be sad if the LSA was quiet like alot of people have said.

Very clean and functional install. Those Oetiker clamps are finding their way into a lot of different applications with oil cooler lines, AC system hoses, vacuum lines, heater hoses, etc. Loving that supercharger windup.
@Lawrence LT Tolman, that positive battery jump start box actually is your fusible Link, you need to put that back in as that is the last line of defense against a short/fire.
LT just a warning with the 4l60 1-2 shift. The 4x4 transmission output doesnt like jarring shifts.. if the sunshell lives, the output will break. I did it with a naturally aspirated 4.3 in an S Blazer. Had a HD2 kit and shift servos that were a bit more agressive than the one you have but you have about 4x the power lol. Just a heads up.
Once again man..another stellar video. Love the truck. The engine bay itself after the install shows your attention to detail and love of the hobby. It's clean. Simple. But you have a truck that with some further tuning and maybe little higher octane fuel can make well over 600hp. In a short bed step side! Im so impressed with how clean the install looks, I’m gonna go back and watch all your other videos on the build now. Seriously nice work man!
I'm sure you know this, but the servo replacement should take about 20 minutes. I just set up mine for the 4l60e I am rebuilding for my Envoy XUV. I didn't install it because the trans is still apart, but it is put together and in a zip lock waiting.

Awesome video and thanks for sharing info on min injector pulse. Just put 80lb/hrs in my turbo lq4 and I'm sure you saved me hours as I've only idled it so far. Keep up the great work!
I’m very interested in your tuning experiences-that’s going to be me in a couple months, I hope. No supercharger, but otherwise the same process. My question is about tuning from the lean side. Goat Rope Garage suggests taking your tune (VE table) and multiplying by 1.1, ie adding 10%, as the first step so that you’re tuning from the rich side. Probably not an issue at “drivability” throttle settings, but you could hurt a supercharged engine pretty quickly at full throttle running lean while tuning. On the other hand, really nice work on the installation!
you're absolutely correct there about running a forced induction engine too lean. When I make the first VE table in boost regions, I always over estimate how much fuel iit wants so its rich, then I have to lean it out to reach the target.
After I put the corvette servo in my old 4l60e, it was the beginning of the end. Stock 5.3 blew it to pieces 4 times before I swapped it all out. Input/output shaft, and everything in-between broke at one point.
Hmm interesting? I did it on my 04 z71 with headers and exhaust. No issues at all and I haven't been easy on it lol. I also have 33s, it made a huge difference the best upgrade I've done to the truck always hated the way it shifted before. I've got it tore apart getting ready to fix rust and paint the frame, then throw a 398 stroker in it and a performabuilt 4l60 black edition trans.
@@christophermix6845 I think there were some golden 60es out there. I've seen a few guys pushing boost through them and they are good. But I think most of them were problematic. I have an 02 Z71, ext cab. Maybe the weight played a factor too. After the first tear down, I put in an HD2 shift kit thinking it would help. It did last about 6k miles but then I started to slip 1-2 shift and eventually lost it all. After 2 years of rebuilds, I swapped in a 403 stroker and a built 4l80e. It's awesome.
@@mac007taz interesting. Performabuilt has a build video and says the main issue is the filter get clogged and the trans gets starved of fluid, he modifies the valve body and stuff to fix it. I Installed both on my 2004 suburbans 4l60e which has 200k on it along with a bigger tru-cool trans cooler and Amsoil transmission fluid and the transmission runs and shifts so much better, I also replaced all the shift solenoids, down shift 3-2 solenoid and PW converter solenoid along with the transmission pillow switch and updated all the accumulator pistons from the problematic plastic ones to the aluminum pistons. I'm about 2 weeks away from having my 2011 Yukon XL 2500 done. I am keeping the mechanical fan, that that's going to complicate things. It's funny, getting the supercharger bolted up is the easy part...Getting it tuned through Blackbear Performance...
Update: I have about a week left of work. Need to install cooling system and fab the intake tube. Not good at welding aluminum so I am using 4 inch Stainless steel for the intake. I would like to rewrap my wiring too.
Hello sir, love the channel. Especially the suburban build as I am doing a 1996 Tahoe that I’m putting a 6 L from a 2500 suburban. Today I’m not talking about that, this is about my sons truck. He was given a 02 Silverado to be a donor vehicle for his 86 k5. I have completely taken out the wiring harness and plan to use most of it probably the exception would be the airbag because my son does not want to change the steering wheel. I was thinking about the ABS. Is there a relatively easy way that you know of to put ABS on my son solid axle K5 which would hook up to the factory ABS stuff from the O2 Silverado?
not sure of the height of your radiator for the intercooler bricks on the supercharger and dont know what you used as a coolant but the vp stay frosty coolant coupled with a couple 8in high flow fans will keep that thing chilly...even at idle
I’m currently building a “5.3” it’s a 5.3 with 4.8 pistons. 706 heads. Turbo. Stainless valves. Dual valve springs. Yadayada turbo 400 swap. It’s gone take me a while. I’m ready to see what the single cab will run
Speaking from experience here man, do as you please but the same day I put my corvette servo in my stock 60e she took a dump on me. Up until then it was very solid and had no signs of “slipping” or any other issues whatsoever and that was on a stock 5.3 with a tune and 40k on it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Best of luck regardless
I usually use a long extension and wobbly socket to get it from below, or I can reach my left arm between the heater hoses and back corner of the firewall to reach the top bolt and the one closer to the dipstick
Because the hot air from the blower enters from the bottom of the brick first, my thought was to have the hottest air meet the coolest liquid. Can’t say if that’s right or not though…
@@LawrenceTolman But the air entering the cover should be at its coldest and the coolant exiting the brick as hot as possible. To me it makes sense to have the cold coolant enter the top, it should result in colder air entering the cover and hotter coolant exiting the brick.
Can you show you installing the servo? I've never heard of this mod. I have a slightly build 94 Trans-Am with a 4l60 with 180k miles and getting kind of worried about the trans..
Sounds great. You said something about wheel hop but also it looks like you are combating that in the process. Tune well once you get to the fine tuning stage I'm sure you will pick a few hp / tq numbers. Fuel yes it's out of this world right now even with my 6.0 all stock drinks some fuel at 14.7 / 15.0 mpg. Not my daily yet but we're close. Heck even my cruze isn't cheap at 65$ a tank for 91 non e. But I can go 400 plus miles to a tank so thats my daily at 34.5 mpg. Be safe out there.
@@FireballMullet I do all my own tuning. There are those out there that are significantly better than I am. But I have fun doing what I do. Unfortunately I just shoved the crank out of the bottom of my engine. So it's time to build a new one.
@@thatgreenrcsb Nice man, yeah I put an original tune on mine, just pulling timing and keeping it a tad rich for first start up, but I got scared after that LOL.
A good 4l60 modification to 4l75 can handle it no problem precision transmission gives you a taste, better gearing Sonnax makes shafts bigger and stronger than 80s
I gots a Jeep NP242 and NV242 (two heeps) and they gots a spot for 2wd. Military Humvee's also used a version and Imma guess a few parts interchange to make it do 2wd too. Imma also guess these new Transfer Cases do not have a 2wd position??!! how hard would it be to modify it to do that? probably don't need or want that option in a fancy car they came outta, but might be handy out on the street or snow or ice or I donno... wheelie shows! lol,
Hey LT, I didn’t see a check valve in your catch can lines. Just wondering if you had one built into the can itself. If there’s no check valve, you’d be pressurizing the crankcase every time you make boost.
Those hose clamps just make minor roadside repairs impossible without proper tools. That's not what the factory uses, for that reason, those are not "OEM like".
Why don't you just add a whole bunch of torque management to your shift? That's how I made my 4L60E last 8 months behind my cammed 6.0 while I saved up for my 80E. Also, when you pull timing for shifts, you can make the shift happen faster.
I have a 4l65e in mine until I source all the parts to do the 4l80 conversion. So far, the new trans handles it quite nicely with upgraded line pressure and torque management removed 80 percent
@@about2088 I actually have the 4l65 also just got it put in a couple months ago they supposedly did the corvette servo and the other little upgrades during the rebuild. It does shift more firm than a stock unit.
@@about2088 you might consider a performabuilt 4l60 black edition. If you're buying a rebuilt 4l80 it'll cost the same amount of money to swap a 80 by the time you everything to swap it if you're 4wd anyway. I was going to do the 80 but once I priced it all it was the same cost for parts not including labor which I would do it myself. And the gearing in the 80 honestly sucks compared to the 60. I've got a 2500 6.0 4l80 3:73 gears and it's a completely different truck the way it drives compared to my 1500 with the 4l60, the 4l80 gearing just makes the truck feel sluggish compared to the 1500 with the 60, example putting the 60 in gear I have my foot on the brake, the 80 i have to give it gas to get it to move, part of is the higher stall in the 80 but when accelerating the 80 holds gears a lot longer. The gearing in the 60 just seems perfect for heavy trucks.
So cool the project is finished, it's wicked. I have a question you said you need to run premium in it now. I live in Canada we don't have E85. Low grade is 89, mid is 91, and premium is 93 octane. Are you running 93 octane in it?
Where I live, the best pump gas I can get is actually 91 octane, that’s what I’m tuning in now, but timing is very conservative. so 93 would be a lot better if it were available, but of course e85 would be best of all
right now we're tuning open loop speed density, and we're getting close to the 512 g/sec MAF limit, so we may need to scale the tune, but for now its running pretty close in speed density
@@LawrenceTolman I run my lsa swapped Yukon Denali xl in speed density, but I have issues with drivability on cold starts. Unless I let the engine warm up to operating temp, I experience knock and stumbles with pre-detonation. I usually have to wait until I get to operating temp to drive, which is a pain since I live in the northern Midwest.
There is an awd dyno in town I might use, or just switch the 2wd case back in… not sure how the timing is all gonna work with this, but I do want it to be awd for LS fest

hope you like em!
@@LawrenceTolman Food job and thanks
Great job LT. Man I wish you were closer I am wanting to start my build. 2014 Silverado gen v upgrade to a 427 yeeee high
We need more power. Lol
Sounds like a blast!
looks good man, sounds sweet too!
lookin good LT big like from your biggest fan. really curious to see what the color is on that wrap.
The install looks amazing!
Thank you!
not sure of the height of your radiator for the intercooler bricks on the supercharger and dont know what you used as a coolant but the vp stay frosty coolant coupled with a couple 8in high flow fans will keep that thing chilly...even at idle
I’m currently building a “5.3” it’s a 5.3 with 4.8 pistons. 706 heads. Turbo. Stainless valves. Dual valve springs. Yadayada turbo 400 swap. It’s gone take me a while. I’m ready to see what the single cab will run
What is the difference between pistons in a 4.8 and 5.3? I thought the difference between the engines was the crankshaft stroke and rod length.
Or…. If it ain’t broke fix it till it is😂
Hey LT, how did you get to the top bolt on the 4l80e out from the to? I’m trying to pull my motor and can’t figure out how to go from the top.
I usually use a long extension and wobbly socket to get it from below, or I can reach my left arm between the heater hoses and back corner of the firewall to reach the top bolt and the one closer to the dipstick
Love the sound of a supercharger over a turbo. Going to be cool to see what the horsepower it makes.
Any chance we can get a "cost" break down for all the parts for this build? This is _exactly_ what I want to do to my '06 Silverado (I'm in Ogden...)
Would the intercooler brick not be more efficient if the colder water enters the top half first?
I think they are backwards. He should flip them
Because the hot air from the blower enters from the bottom of the brick first, my thought was to have the hottest air meet the coolest liquid. Can’t say if that’s right or not though…
@@LawrenceTolman the zl1 s are plumbed opposite. The supply is on top from the factory. See you at ls fest.
@@LawrenceTolman
But the air entering the cover should be at its coldest and the coolant exiting the brick as hot as possible. To me it makes sense to have the cold coolant enter the top, it should result in colder air entering the cover and hotter coolant exiting the brick.
Please show the install process of the Corvette servo! I need to install one in my '70 Skylark.
will do!
Can you show you installing the servo? I've never heard of this mod. I have a slightly build 94 Trans-Am with a 4l60 with 180k miles and getting kind of worried about the trans..
yup, that'll be in the next video
I don't remember if you changed the input shaft on the all wheel drive t case. The 4l80 is 32 spline, and the 4l60 is 27 spline.
I actually just received the 32 spline shaft in the mail, it it’s not in the case yet so I can still use it on the 4l60 for now
Sounds great.
I know this is an old build but do you think this could be done with the factory clutch fan thanks
I miss the whipple I had on my truck. The s480 makes more power, but just not the same.
Did my LSA on my LS3 last year. The tuning made me super nervous and I chickened out and had it Dyno tunes 😂
I rebuilt the 4L60 in my 5.3 Z71. Should have upgraded to the 4L,80
That start up tho!!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Hearing the supercharger makes me wish I still had my CTS-V.
I love the lsa whine. I can’t hear mine whine. The exhaust is too damn loud. Your exhaust sounds just loud enough but not too loud. Nice work.
Its an addicting sound for sure
I gots a Jeep NP242 and NV242 (two heeps) and they gots a spot for 2wd. Military Humvee's also used a version and Imma guess a few parts interchange to make it do 2wd too.
Imma also guess these new Transfer Cases do not have a 2wd position??!! how hard would it be to modify it to do that? probably don't need or want that option in a fancy car they came outta, but might be handy out on the street or snow or ice or I donno... wheelie shows! lol,
Get that red top LSA trim piece, that engine bay needs a pop of color and would complete your factory look! 🤩
that would be the icing on the cake.
Lawrence your definitely going to have to do some awd burnouts gymkhana style!, when your done with the truck
not sure if the truck will have enough sauce to spin all four, but we're gonna try
Why don't you wrap it with a big Tolman Performance logo?
Hey LT, I didn’t see a check valve in your catch can lines. Just wondering if you had one built into the can itself. If there’s no check valve, you’d be pressurizing the crankcase every time you make boost.
No there’s no check valve in the catch can, but where the vacuum source is in the blower snout, it never sees boost.
@@LawrenceTolman Ahhh. Yes! Thanks for explaining. I’ve been watching from the beginning! Keep ‘em coming. Hope you can make 100k subs by summer.
I had very bad luck with boostdistrict
Those hose clamps just make minor roadside repairs impossible without proper tools. That's not what the factory uses, for that reason, those are not "OEM like".
Sounds good LT
what pulley set did the truck use?
Why don't you just add a whole bunch of torque management to your shift? That's how I made my 4L60E last 8 months behind my cammed 6.0 while I saved up for my 80E.
Also, when you pull timing for shifts, you can make the shift happen faster.
its running all of the factory torque management now so it does pull a bunch of timing for the shifts, but a part I already have can't hurt either
what are you using for engine management? did you tune the stock computer?
What do you use to connect your o2 sensor to your ho tuners? Haven't found a good solution yet
Its an older MPVI Pro that has the plug in the side for an analog input
That thing must be really fun to drive. Looks great! Time to take donations for fuel and tires.
Link to the cal tracks you bought? I need some for my single cab😜
Looks clean
Interested to see how the 4l60 will handle the power. I also have 4.8 4l60 combo swap in my nova and want to do a lsa at some point.
me too! I know people break em all the time, so I suppose its my turn
Would love to know the mpg that it gets!
Nice work
Super clean!!
A great whine! haha
Can't wait till its AWD setup is installed.

So cool the project is finished, it's wicked. I have a question you said you need to run premium in it now. I live in Canada we don't have E85. Low grade is 89, mid is 91, and premium is 93 octane. Are you running 93 octane in it?
Where I live, the best pump gas I can get is actually 91 octane, that’s what I’m tuning in now, but timing is very conservative. so 93 would be a lot better if it were available, but of course e85 would be best of all
Are you tuning via open loop or closed loop? How did you scale the maf without losing resolution?
right now we're tuning open loop speed density, and we're getting close to the 512 g/sec MAF limit, so we may need to scale the tune, but for now its running pretty close in speed density
The stock alternator wire is a joke a must do for anyone.
Doubt you'll have time, but a few dyno pulls before the AWD conversion would be great.
There is an awd dyno in town I might use, or just switch the 2wd case back in… not sure how the timing is all gonna work with this, but I do want it to be awd for LS fest
