I was really glad that secretary Schmidt, a Republican from Pennsylvania, referenced what Governor Shapiro, a Democrat, has done to ensure safe and fair elections there! He even referenced "the ugliness of the 2020 elections".
However. The MAGA Republicans in control of the State Legislature in Pennsylvania have laws in place that do not allow counting mail in ballots as they are received maintaining all ballots begin to be counted after Election Day is officially stopped. They are responsible in part for the chaos.
Yeah following your state's election laws would be good for starters because we know they didn't do it in 2020

Georgia HAS made it harder to vote, Raffensberger confirms that. I was a GA Voter since age 18 until becoming an AZ Voter in 2018. The difference in voting procedures was stunning in a good way. Thank you Secty Adrian Fontes for pointing out his nonsense about non-citizen voting!
Yep. Pretty sure it's Georgia that has laws prohibiting giving water standing in line to vote, and have limited how many places people can vote, to induce those lines in the first place. Don't know about everyone else, but voting in my state has always been easier than picking up a snack from the gas station on the way home from work, so it is bizarrely anti-social to literally want to make it difficult to vote.
No it isn't harder to vote in Georgia. 17 days of early voting makes it easier not harder.
@@ColtHarding The law does not prohibit giving water in line. It prohibits representatives of one or the other party from doing it.

In which case, if you know please elucidate why that is a positive law and what it does, so we can balance that against the fact that it still does, relying on your information, restrict giving water to people.

Non-citizens trying to vote: Q. If YOU were a non-citizen would you give the government information about who you are where you live your phone number, employment etc if you wanted to remain in the US? None would. Non-citizen voting is pure propaganda.
Fontes said correctly: Red Herring
Sorry to inform you that non citizens ARE voting in local elections in California and Vermont, so your statement is garbage. 😮😮
Legal residents give their information to the government all the time. Only illegals need to hide from the government. There are more categories of people beyond just citizens and "non-citizens".
Of course it's propaganda, it's just another way to weaponize racism and suppress access to voting for citizens.
Of the convictions for voter fraud between 2016 and 2020, there are more Republicans than Democrats.
Mark Meadows committed voter fraud in 2020 but wasn't indicted. If Republicans really cared about voter fraud, he'd be in prison.
@@MartinGarcia-vo8uj- no not at all. It’s not a red herring. Look what Raffensberger said, and then he was cut off. Maybe those whom denie elections should talk to someone who worked there and counted ballots
Well that’s not the claim. Everyone trusts the patriots who volunteer their time for elections. I think people have some legit questions about the funding of some of the voting machines (including involvement with intel agencies) along with the validity of mail in ballots (such as ballot harvesting), and lastly the lack of identification to vote (which most other countries have). Stop picking sides, think for yourself

It takes more than 3 months in the US.
@@boxingsense3459 takes 3 months for what?
Good job. More helpful sessions and panels to further illuminate some ignorant voters with minimum or no concept of our secure balloting system
Georgia resident here. Raffensperger is right that voting here is quick, easy, SECURE and efficient. The volunteers are knowledgeable (and friendly!). I was proud of him for standing up to trump's threats and refusing to cave.
With that said, I don't like that he and Kemp are on the same page with the whole, "let's take steps to ensure a secure election". We already had the most secure elections in history. Kemp is awful, I dont trust him at all
I'm an independent and I voted Raffensperger to retain his job as Sec of State for this reason: he stood his ground and refused to kiss the trump ring even though he and his family constantly get death threats, and HE'S A REPUBLICAN which is unusual in terms of going against the party line of the "stop the steal" hoax. He wouldn't allow trump to steal our voices, our votes. That demonstrated substantial integrity. Plus he's pretty clean cut, no scandals whatsoever. He's the only republican i voted for
That's funny, the only republican I voted for on my ballot 'was' also our current Secretary of State! She wasn't MAGA and easily won her re-election and then Joe Biden snatched her up to become part of his administration.
Our elections are simple - everyone who is eligible and registered receives a voter pamphlet and ballot in the mail, which gives them a few weeks to do whatever research they feel necessary before making their decisions. Drop boxes are scattered throughout the state or you can mail it back postage paid. A machine verifies our signature on the envelope which also has our identification in barcode form. There is no way to 'cheat the system'. If you lose your ballot, we have polling locations where you can vote in person with just your state ID/driver's license (which is when most voters get registered, it's an option!) and signing a document stating you haven't already voted.
I guess Joe wanted the best!
It is easy for the black voters as well or not??????
Raffensberg did do the right thing about stopping Trump but he still is all about hurting black voter rights and stopping the right to vote!!!! So he is wrong on that!!!!
Raffensperger took the conversation in a decidely 'political' direction by thumping on non-citizen voting, implying (at least) that some groups on "the left" are seeking to alter laws (federal, state) which guard against it. (The case he referenced was a good deal more complex than he represented). Fontes and Benson quickly countered that ALL states, ALL secretaries of state, work hard to insure the valid citizenship of those who would cast ballots. Raffensperger, who gained immense respect in 2020 for resisting Trump's pressure to jigger the numbers in Georgia, is nevertheless a hard right guy, and has initiated several significantly restrictive measures related to voting rules and access.
only a strong, well networked and full of only good people government can be truly transparent. so many moving parts.
Voting is one thing but a candidate doesn't want to commit to the result, is he or she a candidate in the first place? Why do they turn blind eye on this?😮

Who will actually decides misinformation? Who got caught fake mis information news?
Raffensberger has made voting a great experience for those who are still allowed to vote. A lot of lack of information in a forum about misinformation.
Thank you very much sir
Clarifying discussion. Thanks 😊
Interestingly, I was most impressed by Fontes. The marine background coupled with his demeanor and straight forwardness is impressive and appreciated.
It's interesting because ideally I would've liked Raffensperger the most, but it's clear to me that the politics of the day have shifted him, and we can draw a straight line from his most recent re-election to the politicking going on here.
Doing a cursory search, his claims seem outrageous, and again, I think that the pressure from Georgians (same people who elected MTG), and his own desire to be re-elected, has driven him to engage in this partisanship that is being quarterbacked by the most pernicious elements of our society.
I don't think R is like MTG. He stood up against Trump's fraudulent GA election claim. MTG only represents a small percent of Georgians.
The most pernicious being the Supreme Court who has slow-walked justice to enable this chaos.
I was also impressed by Fontes here. No-nonsese, does his job, and is targeting one of the most important issues of tomorrow (AI deepfake tech) before it gets out of hand. Raffensperger has his priorities set by his party, and although I understand that this is the game he must play in order to appease the GOP voters who are already skeptical of him for defending his state against Trump's shenanigans, I also find it very sad because I'd like to think he'd rise above this partisan crap if he could.
Amazing thank you
We must fight for transparent democracy and elect people of integrity. Too many GOP electeds are working to suppress the vote.
Oh your kidding.
Cmon. Your smarter than that. Or are you?
I agree. maga knows that when people vote Democrats win. Notice that they are doing all the voter suppression, voter intimidation, voting roll purges and gerrymandering in the democratic areas, where people of color live and where there are young people (like colleges). They are making it harder for college kids to vote. They may live in one state but go to college in another state.
Vote Biden/Blue all the way down the ballot. They are the ones working to help the regular people. Trump/maga only help their rich donors.

You should have allowed the answer to the question as to why the right was against the left regarding lawsuits (?) to make sure non citizens don’t vote. I’m a Democrat.
Non citizen's don't vote. The Heritage Foundation has been investigating this for 20 years. They found at total of 80 votes in the whole 20 years. This is the rights new "BIG LIE". But when Trump loses he'll blame it on immigrants voting. He won't have any proof to back it up and when he takes the cases to court the judges won't find any evidence either, but he'll keep lying and his base will believe him.
Vote Biden/Blue save our democracy.
"The Left" eh? ... tell me you're a tin-foil-hatter, with out telling me you're a tin-foil-hatter.
The States should do some videos like "Election for Dummies" showing step by step by step everything about the Election. When, where, How.. Especially how the ballots are handled, checked and double checked etc. The videos should be on the level that a 5 yo can understand every detail. The videos should show that their is no step in the process when somebody can add thousands of vote, that dead people can't vote etc.
You are assuming the party in control wants their citizens to know how it works.
@@combatepistemologist8382 Your stupidity just confirmed what I wrote. Maybe instructions need to be on a 2 yo level for you to understand.
That would mean they'd have to have TIME to watch it instead of hearing TFG blather on for the 1,000th time about the same BS
Now I'm going to put my serious hat on:
Who is to determine what information is misinformation? Is it information that is detrimental to the political party currently in power? Is it information that can't be substantiated? Is it information that someone doesn't like and challenges a preconceived notion that they already hold? Is it information that may look correct, yet is slightly embelished or manipulated for personal gain? Why don't we call it slander or libel?
I'm of the opinion that information, much like physical evidence, can be manipulated and tampered with to fit the political aims of a people or group of people. This means it wouldn't be deemed as misinformation, but could constitue as a form of espionage or sabotage. Regardless of political party or alignment on a political compass, no one is exempt from it. I also believe this term has become a "buzzword" much like Trump's use of the term "Fake News". There was a time when slander and libel was taken incredibly serious, and false statements made by political candidates or representatives was detrimental to both parties involved; that being the accuser and the accused.
Intelligence gathering is integral for any nation in terms of warfare and national security. Obviously, things that are detrimental to a nation's security should remain a close guarded secret, but transparency within government institutions at a local, state, and federal level are integral to maintain the trust of the citizens. This idea should extend to the media also. I've heard folk like to claim that the media is the "4th branch of government". I disagree as that is antithetical to the ideas laid out in our first amendment. The media's goal should be to relay what information they can as accurately and UNBIASED as possible. Yet, whether it is NBC, CNN, FOX, or any other major outlet there can be blatant politcal biases.
Could these political biases be considered as a form of misinformation? This would be done by using said biases to sway opinion to a specific view, instead of allowing folk to formulate ideas and opinions of their own. Wouldn't WE THE PEOPLE need transparency within our media also? The fact that the media can sway the views of a populace means the media itself has become a weapon of whatever institution or political party it is in support of. Perhaps returning ourselves to a place where slander charges were brought against government officals and libel charges were brought against those in the media, we'd return ourselves to some state of "normalcy".
But what do I know? I'm just a highschool graduate and college dropout.
Edit: Citizenship verrification can be done with the use of a Social Security card. Every legal born citizen receives one without a cost, so there wouldn't be an issue of constituting it as a poll tax.
TROLL 😂
Regarding the media, we need to bring back the Fairness Doctrine that was ended under Reagan.
Misinformation is information which can be proved false. It's that simple.
Everyone is so divided and not paying attention to the bigger picture which is a worldwide issue but that’s always the case, people are just worried about what’s in front of them, but the things that are rapidly developing are of a universal issue and it’s about to come to a head, buckle up.

Yes I'm with ya joe biden 4 more year's PAUSE ⏸️
Exactly if Republicans want to save their party they need to vote for Biden or not Trump. Donald Trump winning could be the last free and fair election in the next decade or so or after Trump the damage would be so much a Republican would never be elected again for president. 2024-2028 would be the best time for all parties to move on from the old guard and do something new even bring in more political parties.
Misinformation? You mean incompetence and lies?
This bully is about to meet big brother!
