It would be nice if MGM would pick up and restart Stargate. An idea I had (as a partially-written fan fic) involved the SGC still being run but mostly a semi-public operation, Daniel & Vala have gotten married and the Tau'ri defense fleet releasing an "X-309" battle cruiser and jumping forward with the focus on Daniel & Vala's daughters. It would make more sense if taking an existing character (like Vala or Cam) and putting them into a leading/training role and potentially bringing in a younger team led by either Jack's clone or Cadet Haley to "replace" Jack or Carter, respectively, as it would both link with earlier seasons and provide a fresher command team.

(if they're not going to go there, I'd rather they leave him out entirely.) I didn't like the series going in the way of so much time travel. That always gets messy. I don't think many of today's writers would be able to successfully walk that line... but the pendulum is swinging... so maybe soon.
I was a young adult in the 90’s and loved coming home after work get a shower put on fluffy cloths and watch Star Gate with the kids..wow good times all the way around.
There are literally dozens of series premise they could do for Stargate, and most of the old cast actors would be willing to come back in all types of roles. This just strikes me as Amazon executives lacking vision and creativity.
Stargate was a story with a beginning, middle and end. Let it lie. Let's find a new story and world to explore. There are so many amazing books that haven't been made into TV.
I think a Teal’c show would be a great way to begin a new saga, and if some sort of timey whimey thing happened it could be fun. Think kind of what they did in the time episodes of SGU. I hope they do something with that. But whatever they do, they better do something.
Nope, do something else. The Teal'c spin-off sounds boring. Leave sg-1 alone, they had 10 seasons, the last two felt forced. Their story is told and done. Expand on SGA and SGU, far more left to tell in those parts of the universe. I noticed that even scitrek, that scammer with all his so-called "internal sources", has gone quiet about new Stargate lately. I think the franchise is dead and burried, full stop. And about your concerns regarding prequels and reboots, it's really very simple: don't watch it. I did the same with Star Trek. I was a die-hard trekkie. After the first season of discovery, I stopped watching anything related to trek, even the old shows, just lost all interest. Nu-trek burned the entire franchise for me, what Patrick Stewart did to Picard makes him to me one of the biggest sell-outs I've ever seen. I'm not risking that for Stargate, love it too much, I will not watch anything new. I have all the old stuff on dvd and will stick with that.
The problem with continuing Stargate from where it was or where it ought to be now after more than 15 years … is that we're straining the "now" a bit. You mean to tell me than 20 years after pilots were fighting aliens in orbit and longer than that since governments of the world know about it that SOMEONE hasn't leaked that story? Really? Industrialists "inventing" the alien tech, with 45 of the top 30 corporations having all of their data hacked and released online in the past week or so it seems like? (Yeah, several of them got hit more than once…) Then you've got the situation with the US and several "healthy respect" countries like Russia and China and the whole IOA thing… That's gonna be hard to do right now if everything is secret. Plus as we left S10, it was kind of a foregone conclusion that sooner than later it was probably going to have to become public knowledge. In a world where there's now LLMs and drones and big data changing everything about everything … how do you pick that story up, set right now? And how does the geopolitical landscape change with a public gate? Putting the gate on the moon sounds interesting, I know that was floated. Honestly given the current landscape today I don't know how you reboot the show even. Things are a bit in flux right now.
By my guesstimation, by the end of SGU, the number of people on Earth who knew about the Stargate would have been in the 100s of thousands, there is no way the news hadn't broken by then. I think the best way to go would be a next generation set 15 years later, with the Gate common knowledge and people migrating through the gate. You can still have some of the OG characters from all 3 series but more in support roles, create a new SG team with new characters to lead the series.
@Harldin My post on some Gateworld video about a show set on a moon-based "gateport" with a failed Ba'al clone running another corporation (where people can keep an eye on him) that built the facility is still a possibility! Sadly without Ba'al since we lost Cliff Simon. And I'd totally worked out how to have it work, too. Figured the cloning failed so that host and symbiote fused in such a way that the result is a new being that remembers … but isn't Ba'al and wouldn't do the things he did. Still the sort of man Sam would just punch in the face (and would like her for it), but not actually EVIL more than any other CEO… Show being lots of political intrigue. The series big bad … us. Because nothing is more dangerous than humanity. You thought the NID or Goa'uld infiltrated Trust was bad? They'd never make it. It'd be like Caprica after BSG. Too much talking getting in the way of shooting stuff. And no Cliff to play the "Dr. Smith" sort of character whose intentions are not always trustworthy but who isn't directly The Villain.
The problem with a new Stargate series is that earth has to become to powerfull, 20 years later they could even be friends with the victims that recovered from being an Ori-follower and trading tech with them. The only thing that could solve it is something like the *burn* that shuts down space-technology, and that has be done before (Star Trek discovery) or an even more powerfull enemy than the Ori and Wraith ......... Trying to make that believable would be an very difficult thing .......
The great burn was a Babylon 5 historical period that Discovery stole because they could not think of anything better. Sorry I am hating all of the stories we grew up on being destroyed and re-written for no other reason than ego.
I would love to see a movie or a miniseries that wraps up SGU. It could even start out years after the end of the series cliffhanger ending since all of the actors of the series have obviously aged and there's a very real chance that some of the characters might have died in the years since. That would help if any of the actors chose not to return or just aren't available to return. But I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT'S AT THE END OF THE JOURNEY OF THE DESTINY!! I'd also love to see that Teal'c series that Christopher Judge pitched. It could honestly be set decades after the end of the original series since his lifespan is so much longer than the average human. All of the ideas are just spinning around in my head!!!
Yes, but none of the people who work on these types of projects are fans and that is really the problem. They don't know the lore, and they don't care to put in the effort to know the lore that has gone into these things that make them worth the purchase price in the first place
I always thought mgm missed a golded opportunity by having the sg plot keep the stargate secret from public. I would like to see a colony. If amazon screws it up I will ignore the new shit's existence as I ignore the existence of sgu.
I have been thinking that a prequel about the 4 great races.Asgard,Nox,Furlings ,Ancients. So much open story that could b explored and linked to sg1, Atlantis and universe.
I can't speak to the Wars part, I honestly don't care about star wars enough to get invested, but while not all of the new Trek is "4 lights" out, they did breath into a series pretty well. SNW is awesome, Prodigy is excellent, I personally l LOVE lower Decks, and DIS season 3.5 through the end is really pretty good. PIC honestly is my least favorite but beyond S3 Rios is awesome as a character and watching Seven try and figure out how to drive in S2 was fabulous. Stargate can have the same revival, if the right people are there. That doesn't exclusively mean the previous show runners either.
Nah, SGU decimated the fanbase worse then Star Wars sequel trilogy. I dropped the show somewhere around "fake epidemic" episode in Season 1 (episode 9, 10?). Too much drama for the sake of drama, multiple mystery boxes, bloated lineup, adult military characters acting like high-school teens, progressive stuff for the sake of progressiveness (through the "grapey" stones). Also, I (being an IT guy) absolutely hated the character of Eli as campy outdated "hacker" stereotype direct from the early 90s. Leave SGU alone too, SGU fans got their closure in the comic books
Why is the “go to” move from Hollywood to either reboot a beloved property or make a prequel? There’s never a move forward in a universe anymore just constant reboots and prequels that kill everything that made the ip popular in the first place. I blame George Lucas for starting this shit mindset.
I agree with Joseph Mallozzi and would love to see the conclusion of Stargate Universe. It has been many years since MGM left the Destiny stranded in hyperspace with Eli Wallace watching over the ship and the rest of its crew in stasis.
They need a Stargate revelation where the tech is shared with the world and everyone knows what happened and have access to everything making Earth a type two civilization and almost as powerful as the ancient humans.
I always thought it was a miss opportunity, that stargate didn't go in the direction of focusing on Teal'C and what came of all the different worlds, the once enslaved it seemed natural to go into the direction. You could still hook up with Earth, other SG Teams, to even the Pegasus Galaxy. As the Nerd Cookie said, i don't think they know what to do with it and after the disaster that was Lord of Rings? Do they want another destroyed Franchise? In all honesty, i am not sure i want them to touch it.
Following Picard season 3, which was quite good, it would have been great to have a "Seven of Nine" new series with her as captain of a Starship and Ed Speleers as Jack Crusher, but sadly, nothing happened. 😥
I think a reboot is really no choice at this point. Earth has become the only real super power. The wraith bring the only challenge cause they simply zerg rush now. They no longer outclass Earth's ships so numbers will be their game. Pretty much all system lords are dead. Except maybe a hidden Baal clone. The Ohri wiped out. Pretty much no threats left. The asgard suiceded except for a splinter group in Atlantis spin off. Can't remember there names, but one acient power is pure pacifist, the Furlings haven't been seen. So, if they continued original series one of them would have to be the antogonist.
honestly I dunno if I want to risk them putting out something mediocre. just don't really trust them to do it justice. Would be really hard fill the original TV cast's shoes anyway
After atrocious Quantum Leap reboot I have no hope for anything good coming from the current generation of millennial & zoomer writers, especially from the non-soap opera style genres
Because I know what Brad Wright wants to do, which is not a reboot but a or reimagining he’s wanting to do a continuation on the Stargate series basically use that universe and then expanded out even further but they’re trying to block him and stop him from doing that
13:12 no the fans aren’t. There are fans like me that just want me Stargate. There are fans that would prefer some sort of soft reboot. There are fans who want a continuation. We all want different things. And it’s hard to get it right. They don’t want another Rings of Power or Wheel of Time issue. Even though there are fans of those shows, it wasn’t loved like some other shows Amazon has done (like Leverage).
I'd watch a Teal'c spinoff. (But I don't do paid subscriptions, I'd rather watch for free with adverts.) I'd love some new Stargate on 3 conditions: 1 It isn't filled with far left ideology & focuses on the stories; 2 It doesn't contradict any Gate we've seen before & honours the lore; & 3 the gate isn't declassified & made public knowledge as that would shatter the suspension of disbelief.
Stagate sg1 season seven episode 3 Fragile Balance You do remember the Asgardian Loki mistakingly let loose a 14 year old clone with terminal defects. Showing up at Cheyenne mountain causing all kinds of havoc. Then catching Loki, waking up the original JACK O'NEILL!!. Whom if you're a fan would know to be quite cantankerous and eventually has the pint sized O'Neill cured and booted off to alien world of highschool. Guessing clone Jack would be around his thirties in 2024, perfect age to kick off a decade long adventure. If done right, id watch it.
Always glad to hear news on this it was looking good for a short time and then NOTHING. Now Sci-Trek came out with something and You. The list of new and interesting shows seems to have dried up. I don't see some of these working like Legally Blonde, Robo Cop has failed in a reboot. A series that can sell merch is one that will be best. Star Gate has the best casts and longevity. There was a ton of spin off possibilities and somehow none were done. Things in TV/movies also changed I'm not talking Woke garbage but the style and feel. People wanted something more realistic and SG was always a bit 80/90s cheese but it felt comfortable. To bring that magic back and give people what they want with all the new looks/realities will be a big effort. If I won the power ball I'd fund this show in part or whole in a heartbeat. You sound different, New Mic?
They need a couple more failures to understand a simple fact the client is always right. If they have this approach in mind i would agree for them to contemplate reviving these ips neglecting this simple fact will cost them dearly. In the end do they really want to make money out of it that is the real ? behind it all... Thank you nerdcookies for this nice exposé
I‘m afraid they‘ll either produce a Manga version of the original shows (because it‘s cheaper and faster), or, now that Disney‘s only recent Star Wars success was The Goonies in space, Star Gate Kindergarten. Everyone involved with legacy IP seems to be completely clueless about why the original was beloved, only picking part of the visual aesthetics, a few key characters which then are gender-swapped or re-ethnicized. Anything not to have to be innovative. Also, in many cases, there seems to be outright disdain for what the original was and meant to viewers. So let‘s just prequel and destroy anything that came before. Chris has the right instinct. I would also love a show which doesn‘t focus on earth. If a prequel, how did the worms open the gate and rise to power? There‘s loads of story points to hook into. Or which other civilisations discovered how to use it and what did they use it for? Unless destroyed and burried, the technology seems to be for the ages. Trade, exploration, non-human folks, ancient civilisations besides the ascended… I will forever mourn the loss of the Asgard. So if you need to jump in time, how about more about them? Doesn‘t have to be Thor. Just don‘t destroy their legacy and don‘t over explain that which was elegantly told indirectly before. Not every plot point needs filling. Even IF you have to go 80s, how about a band of mischiefs from different worlds who just routinely use the gate to meet and get into trouble? Well-meaning but failing on a personal level, all the while stumbling from one archeological site inhabited by modern folks to another, being street smart but most of the time missing the big picture because to them, the gate is just a commodity. Of course, older generations would have their views on what the gate SHOULD be used for. Perhaps they had technology and knowledge which got lost or perhaps the mischiefs have means which their parents didn‘t have access to. Did they find it? Did they develop it? How far would you go if you weren‘t the human military trying to fend off system lords?
Slight problem with Teal'c.... after the movie his character is now well over 200 and nearly 250.... Even for a jaffa he should be on his death bed, though he uses tritonan now so maybe that bypasses the whole death issue due to the bodies rejection of the symboite and keeps the body healthy enough? But if thats the case will the Jaffa (race?) ever die now they can use it?
I was so excited when Stargate Origins came out, but not long efter I realized how boring it was. Ever since then, I haven't had much hope, the comics was really bad too. If they do a sequel I might try it but I'd rather have a Revival. If they reboot it then I'm out😒
Nah, I really don't care about Teal'c's story. They could be included in the series as an ongoing plot point but don't want it the main focus. I think it needs to go back to earth and and go off the ending of Atlantis where they are on earth now. It would be like sg1 and Atlantis into one show. SGU i think would need its own show for continuation.
Stargate wouldn't work very well as a 6-8 episode show. We love the series cause they gave us a reason to care about the characters. Rushing through a storyline just to stay under 8 episodes generally means you don't take the time to care about the characters or really the story.... but still better than a short movie.
Never underestimate Amazon’s ability to f things up. If they get the original writers and not force them to push the “agenda”, we should be ok. Also, Chris Judge has been on the woke end of the spectrum, which is concerning.
Almost certain it'll start in a post apocalyptic future where a new group of girlbosses will have to find SGC and try to fix what went wrong and crush the patriarchy.
There is a risk.. that what they release goes the way of Rings of Power, or Star Trek Discovery and turns people off of any of the old material. They lose legacy sales, legacy watch hours.. its probably not good business sense to tarnish the most profitable property in their catalog with inexperienced and failed creators in this generation of creators.. wait for a better time with better writers and better producers to earn their positions with merit before continuing Stargate.
A reboot is the only thing that will work. The Stargate story ended with Earth getting god tech. Humans beat the game at that point. Any villains invented at this point would look silly and new people to the IP will just be lost trying to get into it. But the old basic idea of a wormhole ring found in the desert is still very compelling. Also Amazon sucks
What I know from another channel that I’ve seen is there still in talks about doing it and the they hung up because Brad write the man who created the Stargate TV series in the first place in pies, responsible for Stargate Stargate Atlantis in Stargate universe from what I understand is they’re still talking, but they don’t want Brad right which I think is a mistake and they’re just going to ruin it right now to be quite honest. Is someone who loves SG1 I want to I want to put a hiatus on Robocop and a lot of others because they’re going to ruin it. Amazon is the touch of death, when it comes to major IP they ruined the Lord of the rings series and they’ve made a lot of people mad about that. They ruined the wheel of time they’ve made a lot of people mad about that. No one trust them. They’re so consumed with DEI and the woke mind virus that it’s going to have to be a complete killing and firing of the current president and she needs to go and hire somebody who understandthis stuff but until that happens, I don’t see them doing Stargate anytime soon and honestly, I think it’s a good thing
I don't want any new Stargate until this ridiculous woke era is over. No one in entertainment right now is capable of doing it right, even if they actually wanted to - which they don't. All they want to do is subvert. No thanks

With Amazon's recent track record (Rings of Power, Wheel of Time etc) Im not hopeful at all about how Amazon will handle legacy IP.
After rings of power, I don't want amazon to touch any franchise ever again
They've also ruined Wheel of Time.
@haplozetetic9519 yes. Oh gosh. I blocked that from my mind.

I liked Stargate. But I have gotten to the point where I simply refuse to watch any spinoff, sequel or prequel. I'm tired of them destroying old IPs because they don't have a single original in their heads.
It's not just that. They're intentionally destroying beloved IPs. It's not incompetence, it's intentional. Humiliation and demoralization propaganda.
I wouldn't mind a prequel about the Ancients at all tbh.
Everything from the first settlement at Dakara to Janus's adventures in the Time Jumper in the Milky Way - their entire fifty million years of history explored in a single series.
Hot take here, but I genuinely loved SG Universe and would love to see a third season. Just not by anyone who’s been making shows lately
they just don't have the imagination to do it.

They did pretty well with Fallout.
I quit watching Fallout two thirds of the way into the first episode.
They've done good on Reacher and Cross: both of which Amazom chose to reboot.
They completed The Expanse well enough.
The terminal list, reacher, they are hit and miss but the hits are top shelf.
Not really. It need at least three more seasons. The books end much differently, and not well either, the authors are a pair of horrid nutjobs.
Me 16 Minutes ago: Oh boy, Teal'C P.I. is finally going to be reality!
Me now: Actually, Chris Judge's pitch sounds pretty cool too.
Indeed.
Outstanding video! As a huge Stargate fan, I am disappointed at how Amazon has fumbled this opportunity.

Teal'c is the only original character. I guess it depends on who the writers are and the storyline. I must admit I don't trust Amazon.

I have all the old stuff on dvd and will stick with that.
i couldnt agree more with you. I really digged SGA and was sad it got cut short. Teal'c spin off sounds boring, indeed...
@@origami83 lol, I see what you did there.
I can't stand mckay.
(Yeah, several of them got hit more than once…)
Then you've got the situation with the US and several "healthy respect" countries like Russia and China and the whole IOA thing… That's gonna be hard to do right now if everything is secret.
Teal'c P.I. or we all riot!
I would love to see Chris going through gates again
Wait. There's a robocop show in the works?! I'm both sceptical and excited.
The reboot film was pretty bad.
The more i think about the more i want Stargate to be left alone, seeing what they are doing to Star wars, Star trek and so many others.
They should revive, pun intended, Stargate Universe
I have very low confidence in Amazon. They keep making garbage with very few watchable shows. Rings of Poop is an abomination.
It has been many years since MGM left the Destiny stranded in hyperspace with Eli Wallace watching over the ship and the rest of its crew in stasis.
sgu sucked hard
@@bencruz563sgu is a modern TV show before modern tv shows where the norm
I would genuinely recommend you go back and rewatch it
It would be amazing for a new show and tbh a reboot is a no go
They need a Stargate revelation where the tech is shared with the world and everyone knows what happened and have access to everything making Earth a type two civilization and almost as powerful as the ancient humans.
Incredibly based. SG1-A-U is my favorite tv show
Following Picard season 3, which was quite good, it would have been great to have a "Seven of Nine" new series with her as captain of a Starship and Ed Speleers as Jack Crusher, but sadly, nothing happened. 😥
A Teal'c Spinoff would be so great... If _Christopher Judge_ had a big say it how it was done.
Amazon will ruin the IP's the way they have Wheel of time and Rings of Power. I see no reason to expect anything different from Amazon.
What about those little techno-critters and who created them?
@@jayvega9641The replicators? They’re hard to write without sterilizing what ever planet they’re on.
@ what about the species that created them?
Just don’t let anyone involved with Rings of Power, Kurtzman Star Trek, or Disney anywhere near it.
teal'c saves The destiny Crew... the end lol :P
Bring in Kurt Russell and James Spader to be the new System Lords
honestly I dunno if I want to risk them putting out something mediocre. just don't really trust them to do it justice.
A continuation of Stargate Universe is the only answer.
Just what we needed..
AMAZON....OUT OF TOUCH WITH THIS STYLE OF INCOME........THEIR PERSPECTIVE OF THE THE MONEY MAKER IS A LITTLE SKEWED......OUR LOSS AND THIERS.
Thanks Elaine
Fans need to stand up
Hope they leave it alone.
If they bring like original SG1 or Atlantis it will be gold with the same naration story but faire egual prezentation
I would love to see a remake of the original movie story line with deep faked actors from the TV series.
There's one question though; If you have story continuations, would have have the original cast from the movie or the series?
Stagate sg1 season seven episode 3 Fragile Balance
You do remember the Asgardian Loki mistakingly let loose a 14 year old clone with terminal defects.
If Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi aren’t involved I’m not interested. Those guys ARE stargate.
the update is that there is no new update...
They could have considered re-releasing Ben- Hur for its 65th anniversary which is this year. But, nope...😡
I would like to see a series about the Ancients, and the 4 races.
But I will be happy to see any new SG series, as long as it is not woke.
It’s a great time to get stargate going again while the Canadian dollar keeps going down.
We need Teal'c defending transalien rights
They need to hurry the f up. Judge and Anderson arent going to be around forever.
Almost certain it'll start in a post apocalyptic future where a new group of girlbosses will have to find SGC and try to fix what went wrong and crush the patriarchy.
Oh hell no!
Stargate TV shows should be left alone. It's not 1990s anymore. Let them rest in peace. SGU killed the franchise anyway.
Would new Stargate Command still be an Air Force project, or would it have been transferred to Space Force?
A reboot is the only thing that will work. The Stargate story ended with Earth getting god tech. Humans beat the game at that point. Any villains invented at this point would look silly and new people to the IP will just be lost trying to get into it. But the old basic idea of a wormhole ring found in the desert is still very compelling.
Also Amazon sucks
Stargate spin-off need to be about the first person went to the Stargate what really happened to him
❤
No thanks
