# 2 works best for me. Getting off in the morning after a 12 hour shift and not going to sleep till 7pm. Staying up for 24 hours is not ideal but I sleep through the whole night and wake up early in the morning ready for my day shifts. I also CANNOT look at the clock when waking up in the middle of sleep to use the restroom because I’ll see I have 2 hours left to sleep and my body won’t let me relax and go back to sleep 😢.
Just want to say thank you for your channel! Working shifts for 4 years and kinda lost motivation, you gave me a lot of new tips and hope to make my life easier. Thanks!

Retired 2 weeks ago after 26 years of 2nd shift. Trying to "correct" my sleeping schedule is not going well. I'll be trying all of your tips. Thanks for the video.
I do days for two weeks and graveyards for two weeks. It's easy to go to nightshift I find, going back to dayshift is the real problem. I always find the first dayshift I go in with literally 1-2 hours sleep or nothing at all and just power through it, then crash when I get home.
@@brandon152lee it is impossible, and never good long term. I'm at a point where I'm looking for a new career path, and plan to switch in the upcoming year. Regardless of the work and pay, steady dayshift jobs are important to do for your health long term. There will come a point where you just can not do it anymore and will need to change. I've been working 11 years in a quite nice rotational shift system and found your channel just recently. My shift are 2x 6:45-15:15, 2x 14:45-22:15, 2x 21:45-7:15 - then 4 days off (well, 3,5 days off if you count away sleeping - but not always, sometimes with additional 8h shifts 8:00-16:00 or 10:00-18:00 to make up for the missing hours). I don't like morning shift and I believe soon thay are going to change the system into worse for me: 5:45-14:15, 13:45-22:15, 21:45-6:15 - maybe better for some people to go to bed sooner after night shift but not for me. It will be more difficult to get up soooooo early and there will be less time to do anything before afternoon shifts... grrr... Anyway... Two nighshifts normally don't change my biological clock so what works for me is simply going to bed past 7:00 and trying to sleep as much as possible, especially before the other nightshift (which is then usually much easier for me but for most of my colleagues it's worse - I believe they can't sleep enough). So... trying to sleep 6/7h, also after the 2nd one. Then normally to bed past midnight - which is my normal rythm during free days. I also supplement melatonin. I started with your oldest films and plan to watch all of them till the latest ones. So... thanks.
I need tips on how to reverse my night shift schedule and become a daytime person again. For the past seven years, i have worked the night shift and then even when I had a year off during Covid, I was so used to being up at night, that became my normal. I would sleep during the day. I would wake up around 5\6 PM. That’s when I would get my grocery shopping done, exercise, avoid crowds and people. It was awesome. I can get a lot more done in a shorter amount of time because I was able to avoid people. The thought of working and trying to stay awake. during the day seems brutal to me . I don’t know how I’m going to function or stay awake at a new job. I worked weekend nights (Friday Saturday Sunday night 6-6) for 10 years. I am now on a 2 week day shift and 2 week night shift weekday rotation. I am having serious trouble adjusting to the days of the week…
Better to stay on one rotation, how come you went to two weeks swapping? I do the exact same shifts rotsting every two weeks so I know your pain, you always suffer the first dayshift after night blocks after two weeks because your body adjusts and there is no way around it but to hope you sleep the night before your first dayshift.

Personally, I don't think it's enough. Most adults need 7-9 hours per night, even on night shift to limit the long term health effects I speak about in some other videos. Hi Rance. That's a big job. Though I haven't done a video on 24-hour shift yet, this blog post we wrote will hopefully give you a few tips - theothershift.com/24-hour-shifts/
Hi!
I recently (2 weeks) switched to day shift, i was working night shift for 3,5 years. When i sleep, i wake up 3-4 times at night and this makes me tired during the day, no energy.
Could you give me your tips?
Thanks alot!
I have struggled with this. I cut back my caffeine intake and sometimes drink sleepy time tea. Sleep aids don't work for me, but some of my coworkers swear by Niguil zzz
Australian accents are so annoying
