FYI - The marigolds I grow and use are safe for cosmetics and consumption. Please research your variety and make sure yours are safe before you consume them in tea or salves. They’re not all the same and very few can be harmful. Just like with anything else you see on TH-cam, make sure to do your own gathering and research! :)
Look at that table full, WOW. O yahhhh, Tea Time. JEN THE ZEN, OF TEA MAKING.You need to write a book guys, So much knowledge in all your videos, I will buy one for sure. Calendula salve , how cool is that, them containers are also good for homemade chapstick, I think you have a video on that too. another reason for a book deal. Excellent video Jen. God Bless.
I know you guys don't live there anymore but can I just say how I love and miss this intro to your videos. That song is so touchy in my feels lol and the mill and everything... God bless you Stivers!! (You guys sure have come a long way, haven't you?! I can only hope to be a 4th of Jenn!) 💖
Order ours last week, it came quickly and we have used for roughly 24 hours. I can’t tell you how amazed and impressed I am with the comfrey salve! Thank you! ❤
You’re making these all look so easy. I’m sure the initial investment is expensive but once you get going it’s not too bad. I always tell my friends to save their marigold seeds and they’ll never have to buy another one.
I know yall do your stuff to put up for your family but if yall ever got to the point of mass making, an etsy shop would be a great thing for selling it! I'm sure people would love to buy your products!
As a longtime salve and cream maker, I have a tip for cleaning beeswax: boiling water. If you can’t clean it fast enough, the boiling water will melt it down and make it easier to wipe off. Also, adding some baking soda to the waxy substance makes it easier to wipe off. FInally, a diswashing soap that goes through grease can be helpful to remove the last remnants of wax from your jar. Hope that helps!
Hey Jenn and Zach, Fabulous video! So worth the wait. Really appreciate all of the time and planning that went into this video. You two are an amazing couple. I was ready and waiting for this video. I ordered a Stivers Homestead cup and picked marigolds, basil, and chamomile and set it out on tea towels to dry a week before my trip. I am going to make a cup of chamomile tea tonight. It is supposed to be good to help relax you before bedtime. Some say it helps with snoring too but since you can hear my husband in the next county, I doubt it would be very effective. I love him so. Twenty-five years ago today, I said "I do" to that amazing man. I am so blessed! Thanks again for sharing!
Marigolds are amazing in so many ways. I use them as a border around the garden to keep rabbits and deer out, too. My marigolds are seed we keep saving from ones my daddy has been growing since(before?) I was a little girl, so they are special to me for that alone. And, I love your hutch/cupboard in the background! 😊
Hi there Stivers ...I am in cape town south africa been watching you for a while ...anyway today I made my first batch of calendula salve thanks to your video and it has turned out so great.. you guys are such a blessing....blessings and love keep safe
Even though calendula is sometimes referred to as marigold, it is not really a marigold. If you're using marigolds to make calendula salve, you're not actually making calendula salve. Just in case you weren't aware. 😊
Thanks for sharing your tea garden and salve making. I have been making salve for a few years and found the best way to clean out the glass mixing cup I use is to scrub it with baking soda once cool. The baking soda can be disposed of and the wax doesn't clog up the drain.
They’re not all the same. If you decide to do some make sure you check first. There are very few types of marigolds that aren’t safe for consumption :)
Y’all! This was the best instructional! The bounty of colors are amazing, not to mention the many benefits of each item! Thank you for all the hard work you put into creating this! Blessings!
This spring I'm going to start my own tea garden! I love tea, and I love a lot of the flowers and herbs, etc that you picked! I've never tried the Licorice Basil yet though! Sounds wonderful! Thank you so much Jen!! ❤️❤️🤗🤗🙏🙏. You are amazing! And it's so sweet to see Zach helping you out with everything! True love blooms continuously between you two, just like your gardens ❤️❤️. God bless you and your family!
I loved this video so much! I make Chocolate Mint and Stevia Leaves Tea. Also I dehydrate Hibiscus flowers and Ginger for Tea in winter for colds and flu. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Rhonda
Marigolds, Wow I didn't know you could do that with those! My husband likes it when I watch your videos because he likes to listen to your music you put on. I love herbs... 😊 Thank you for all of the knowledge.
I don't grow comfrey but all the others I do. I put them in a little oil an then in a little container I put it over a tea candle as it warms it puts a great smell in the house. I asked so have put it in the water and put it on a low simmer and it does the same. I plan to make the salve. Thanks for sharing
I had the same dinnerware set for the last 6 years, finally bought a new set this year from The Pioneer Woman Collection and passed my beautiful earthy dish set to my son. Love how happy you and Zach always sound. Brightens my day right up.
Jen you're making me want a tea garden and urging my inner hippy back out to make home remedy stuff! :) Thanks so much for showing how you're using everything and the processes you use. It's super helpful and so fun to watch
Love love love your vids!!! Thanks for the great info . You guys always put me in a better mood with all the smiles and love you share!! As always.. Blessed be. 💕
I love how your joy of this tea garden just shines out of you!!! I've always said gardens are the best natural anti-depressants you can find. Great information in this video :)
Wow, a ton of information there! I had no clue how salves were made, where you got you salve containers, never would have thought of the silica packets, etc. I learned much, and as usual, laughed, when the jar lid ring kept spinning. I would have saved that for a practical joke. How many turns would it take before the next person noticed, it didn't fit? Lol. Here, you turn...lol.
Love yr intros. Such a sweet and handsome couple! Wish all these homesteaders shows were on when I was yr age! People like you were what my parents called 'hippies'. Will b following yr family. Very interested in her herb process creams and oils.
Great job y'all did. Dont forget to label and put a date on them 😋😉. I luv hot tea but never yasted all those types of tea and never had made sav. My marigolds haven't grown so much. They are very small but did bloom. Thks for showing us the steps.
I just started mine soaking yesterday and ordered the things I need from your amazon store front. I’m very excited!😊 thank you for all the info! The Stive tribe rocks!!!😊 luvs as always Sherri 🌻💕
I'm so glad you got me straight one calendula I thought it was a calendula plant. Now I know it's from the dandelion plant. I'm so dumb. God bless you and your family.
I've been waiting on this since you planted them and this video delivered just like I knew it would. I am so inspired. I want to just dive in and learn as much as I can and start making my own salves and such. The way you light up (more than the usual) when you talk about your tea garden is infectious. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thank you... a great, helpful, inspiring video! 👍 Now, I definitely want to grow and harvest a tea garden! 😊 I drink herbal tea each day, so this would save so much money, and would be fresh and very tasty. I want to try the salves also, thank you for the instructions. Have always wanted to make calendula salve... so beneficial!! I really appreciate this very helpful, well done video! Blessings from SW Mo!! 💓🙏💞👍
wow that is nice salve. I buy Glycerine blocks. I have 2 forms for soap. I melt the glycerine 1 3/4 cups in my microwave or you can use a double boiler. a soon as it is melted for one minute you add vegetable color or fragrance stir it in. Then pour into molds. Let set until firm and put out. this makes 8 soap bars. So far ours have lasted 16-18 weeks. Wrap in parchment paper and we put them in a paper bag to store until we use it. the blocks can be bought at Hobby Lobby on-line or in the store.
Oh, what a beautiful bounty on your table. I just started doing infusions after seeing Jess do her Calendula. I did an infusion using the last thing my Daddy planted which was peppermint I used grape seed oil and olive oil to take advantage of both oils. Then after mine sat I made gardener salve with it, and added peppermint and lavender essential oils, and some Texas beeswax that I grated these were all made in the heart shaped tins like yours and then I took them up to his and my Aunt’s memorial along with wild flower bombs. I love your tea collection and information Jen. Maybe you or Zach could organize a medicinal and tea playlist? Maybe you have one already? I love this kind of knowledge and stuff.
Great video! Chamomile is my new favorite herb in the garden. I have been harvesting and drying it every couple weeks. I just can’t seem to get enough we’ve been drinking tea every night before bed.
You are doing such a great job at inspiring me and others. Love the way you are using all these plants. Never realized Calendula came from marigolds. I have used health food store calendula salve before and it is so good. Now I can make it myself. You are wonderful Jen! 😍 love and prayers..................Patti

Stivers Homestead What kind of Marigolds do you recommend? Thx Shey
The ones I used are sparky mix from mi gardener. I recommend them and will grow them every year :)
OK thank you.

Hi I was wondering what size those tins were? I checked the link but 1oz tins seem smaller than what you were using.
It's like you knew I was about to ask that....Thanks!
I love the fact that your husband helps you with everything. That is a blessing in itself.
He is amazing ❤️
I was thinking the same thing! I love how you do all of this stuff together
Yes I was thinking the same. The music is great as well! Great job you too! 💕
Y'all need to bring back some of these old intros, they are so sweet and nostalgic!!
I feel like everyone would really enjoy them.
Idk why TH-cam gave me a video of yours from 2 years ago but I'm glad they did!! We love you guys! Thanks for always inspiring and educating us!

Pure olive oil will solidify in refrigerator. You can try it if you want to know your Olive oil is pure.
After a hard day at work my feet will cramp. Your comfrey salve completely stops all cramping cold! I love this stuff!!
I thought all the making oils ands salves was too far over my head but thank you for making it look doable.

I really really miss videos like this! Really! Especially the intros and music.
A really nice thing about licorice basil is that you get a licorice flavor without the blood pressure raising qualities of real licorice.
Yes!
The two of you are so cute and so good together. and a good example to others.. Love you both.
I come back to watch again since my chamomile is blooming 💚🌱💚
You’re making these all look so easy. I’m sure the initial investment is expensive but once you get going it’s not too bad. I always tell my friends to save their marigold seeds and they’ll never have to buy another one.
Zach I just heard last night that you lost your father I am so sorry for your loss. God bless your family.
Oh my goodness! I can actually start that marigold infusion finally!!! 💃💃💃

Vanessa Betcher good tip about cleaning the jars
Thanks :) it works well for well for spoons or other items you use to make salve. The bees wax is a challenge to clean up.
Wow. I'm so impressed. In a very short period of time I have learned a lot from your channel. Thanks for sharing.
You could have a nice little business selling those salves and teas. It all looks wonderful!
I absolutely love your channel. I appreciate everything you share. Thanks so much. Shalom and Blessings.
I don't guess i ever realized that marigolds and calendula was the same thing...🤔 i learned something new today... Love this herbal lesson!
