Wow. Claude Frollo was perfectly cast. Not the villain of the Disney rendition, not the tortured anti-hero of the Victor Hugo novel. Perfectly blended between both. And his velvet batitone voice (not a bass like Tony Jay), again a nice middle ground between the villainy of the Disney character and the original Hugo character. Well done! Bravo!
His interpretation is amazing!!!!!! His face, voice, singing voice and the way he talks, his movements, everything. He is so lovely!! And cute smiley face!! Especially I like how he says “because of you.. duty?.. I told you master I am very strong” and I also like the way he touches Phoebus when he cries on Esmeralda. But I like everything about Quasi!!!!! I think the actor makes Quasimodo left handed. And he stutters and stammer when he talks to his master.. not with his gargoyles and Esmeralda. Very nice super spectacular interpretation!!!!!!!!!!!
Quasi is extremely spectacular of course but also Frollo and Clopin too!! Their pronunciation is so easy to hear. Others speak fast and in accents a bit, not for stage pronunciation. But for sure every one is so amazing!! Their interpretations are tremendous!!!!!!!!
Stumbled over the musical while browsing youtube, and i'm glad i did. An enjoyable two hours of being glued to my seat singing along to some of the songs. Loved the performance of everyone and especially Clopin and Frollo. Now i really want to see musicals like this live.
i know this is a student show, and you all did amazing, i just wish there was more stage direction, more little touchs, the actors are always facing the audience and standing in the middle just belting it out! you have to play the scene AND sing, thats what acting in a musical is. really amazing voices all around though, thats what carries this production for sure, well done!
It's midnight and I'm crying all alone because this is so beautiful and enchanting The storytelling, the characterizations, the singers, the action, everything was so touching and well-done I was shocked to see it was made by students! You did it perfectly! Nailed it! Musicals done with the heart and talent like this one are what makes me love being human, sharing these emotions and crying or smiling to every song sang in the voice of all these amazing artists Congratulations to everyone involved, I have a very strong passion for this story and I'm surely watching this again and again. Just these two hours helped me draw away from my anxious day I had and be carried by music. Thank you so much. This is beautiful ❤
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I sang along to some of the songs. My favorite is God Help the Outcasts. It is such a beautiful song that I sang it twice. Once in concert, and once in church. One day Out There always makes me cry. Bravo to the entire cast!
Beautiful production! I enjoyed having the opportunity to watch such a beautiful performance. Kudos to Quasi and Frollo; their performance was absolutely awe-inspiring! Great job everyone :)
Thanks for posting the show! For us who haven’t seen it was great to enjoy it 🙂 Congrats to all the ensemble who really run around to change clothes so many times to cover all the characters 👏🏼 Quasimodo gave us such a great performance! Thank you!
It's not that it's "haha" funny, it's a very tense moment and people don't like the discomfort, so it's very natural to laugh to alleviate the discomfort. Especially with such an ironic death; Frollo taught Quasimodo these things, and the gargoyles are Quasi's inner thoughts, so hearing such vitriol and anger towards his master is cathartic for the audience, who know how terrible Frollo is. When I was in Les Mis a few years back, we had a moment between the death of Enjolras and the musical reprise of "Bring Him Home" where we would leave a few seconds of silence before the music softly started. One time, we had a little boy in the audience, probably no older than 5 or 6, who just went "No!!" in the saddest, most innocent voice upon seeing all the brave boys of the barricade defeated. Of course, the audience laughed, but it was the nervous, cathartic sort of laugh that just makes you know that the audience is engaged in the story and the dramatic tension.
[pretty long comment because i love it!] SPEAKING AS A THEATRE ACTOR, THEATRE STUDENT, AND THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME ENTHUSIAST, I LOVE IT SO MUCH! SUPER PRAISE TO QUASI AND THE MAIN CAST! QUASIMODO, MANNNN! HE'S BRILLIANT! I LOVE HIS LITTLE SIGN LANGUAGE EVERY TIME HE TALKS IN LONGER SENTENCES. His voice is immaculate! ❤ I ALSO LOVE THAT ONE ENSEMBLE GARGOYLE WITH THE GLASSES! MAN, YOU HAVE SO MANY ROLES TO FILL AND YOU DID A SUPER BRILLIANT JOB ESPECIALLY AS KING LOUIS!!! THoND is my absolute dream prod and I wish I can work with that piece too (Maybe as Clopin, maybe as an ensem). You guys are great!! All the love! ⛪🔔💚
Ensemble (choir) actor here! Even just being in the choir was an absolute DREAM - reach for the stars! If you ever get the chance to audition for it - go for it! I never thought I could get in and it's been the most amazing theater experience I've had so far
@@theatergeekedu its also for us a the Theatre a really special Show and was one of the best. This Cast, this Set, this direction... This Show is so much fun and a lot of tears. i am happy that the Viennese Version got a full Audio with the whole Show.
@@ChocolateOmnom Im glad you agree with me. Don’t get me wrong, the Disney ending was sweet, but I personally like this one. I dont know it just sticks out to me more
Broadway me too. I usually prefer happy ending, but this story is so serious and about big matter. When I watched this for the first time, I was soooooo shocked at how it ended. But the more watch this the more I prefer this, because it’s more realistic and logical. Disney’s happy ending is nice, but it seems not so realistic, but Disney did it for little children. Broadway is for adult people to think deep and seriously. I like these differences. Like beginning story about how Frollo lived and Quasi’s dad. I really like this performance, especially Frollo how he makes face to Quasi. Disney Frollo looked at Quasi very angry and bad faces very often so scary. I was so scared of him, his face. But in this, Frollo stays calm and doesn’t make cruel face to him, he punches Quasi a few times though.. BUT Disney Frollo is waaaaaay scary.. I was wondering that how archdeacon like him makes such a scary face even if he says “holy, sanctuary, mercy, righteous” ,,and other “nice” words, he never does and he never learns himself. The wicked shall not go unpunished!!!!!
Broadway. I think it conveys the message of "who is a monster, and who is a man?" much better than Disney. And I have a soft spot for the line "And we wish we could leave you a moral, like a trinket to hold in your hand." Like... the story obviously wants to teach you something, but it's up to you what you want to take away when the house lights turn on.
and you're telling me that this masterpiece is A STUDENT PERFORMANCE?! I hope these casts go far in their future bc this had me in tears.
It was SO GOOD I had no idea it was a university performance!!
I’m telling you, they’re making teenagers WAYYY more talented than we were in the 70’s!
Often student performances are better than Disney's nowadays.
The decision to have Esmeralda actually dancing behind Frollo during Hellfire is an inspired one.
frollo's actor was an EXCELLENT choice, he understood the assignment

quasimodo's crying scene at the end was Oscar-worthy. THAT BOY MADE ME CRY!
The guy playing Frollo has an insanely great voice. Like, he's ready for Broadway. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
AGREEEEEEEE
Yes, I completely agree with you. And the guy playing Quasimodo is also really good. 🙂
His voice sounds like Ramin Karimloo from the Phantom of the Opera. Absolutely voice for Opera!!!
Worked in the pit for this show, absolutely LOVED frollo, he's such a sweet guy but really got into the character of the show. Great voice!!

LITERALLY WATCHING THIS OVER AND OVER AGAIN THE MUSIC AND ACTING - LOVE THIS SO MUCH!😭😭
SAME!! This is the closest I'm getting to a Broadway performance!
Frollos voice is spectacular!
Absolute chills every time Quasimodo sings
This is a student production? I've seen tons of "professional" productions that don't come even close to the caliber shown here. This is incredible
I love claude Frollo. I dont need a substitle when he sings. Its clear as crystal ❤ Love to see him on Broadway❤
