I loved watching this production but I prefer the ‘children’ to be actual children. I think the story is better when Clara ‘grows’ up and when then the children play and dance as children.
It is a bit confusing. How are revenues from this production to be sent to Ukraine when it is Russian company performing here? Doesn't make sense. The Russian government is subsidizing a costly production and then sending the profits to an enemy of the state. Can someone please explain how this is possible.
Dear Sir. Altea Media is the first coproducing broadcaster of this film, shot much before the Ukrain war. As such, we do own worldwide rights including publishing and monetising this film o our TH-cam channel. Therefore, we are the company receiving this film revenues. Instead of sharing these with the Mariinsky, these revenues are sent to help Ukrain.
@@tanisabenulic2861 What is the most unfair ? Mariinsky unvoluntarely subsidising Ukrain or Russia invading and destroying Ukrain against all international regulations ?
@@alteamedia Mariinsky and the art of dancers has nothing to do with Russia invading Ukraine. The US and the UK have invaded Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq (I'm just stating illegal military interventions under international law and without the authorization of the United Nations Security Council) and are now participating in genocide in Gaza (ICC and ICJ court cases) and Lebanon and no one is proposing to steal performances from the Royal Ballet and Opera House or the American Ballet Theater and the artists as punishment to a country for illegal wars.
spectacular sets, spectacular costumes, spectacular orchestra, and I hated the production. Where are the children? Without children, this is not the Nutcracker.
Vaganova School actually performs precisely this version on their own, usually around the Christmas/New Year’s holiday. It’s very unique in that VBA can field an entire cast of students who can perform the same choreography that professionals dance. It’s been around since the 1930s.
Excellent video! I have never seen the full version before. Great job. I assume even though this was in Russia, the idea of giving proceeds to Ukraine will come to pass?
Am I the only one who cringed at them doing blackface?!?! That shocked me I wont lie... Yikes man I dont think anyone would mine if you genie in a box wasnt racist AF!!! Hoky moly.
That's where I stopped watching. Awful. There are 2 things in this production I liked: the orchestra and the Russian dance. Non russian productions don't have russian dance, they have either candy canes or Trepak with 2 or 3 males doing Ukrainian version of the dance.
That was authentic to the part. People in other countries are different colors, you know. They aren't all pink white people. Sorry that your sensitive woke feelings were upset
Woke feelings! Unbelievable. I love watching authentic dancers from all countries and ethnicities. But putting white person in black or yellow face is offensive and racist. Pity you are ignorant of it.
This is a ballet company in case you didn't notice. I wouldn't go so far as to say worthless. Shakira adds just a little value to this performance, n'est pas?

What a nightmare! Never thought i will say this about my favourite ballet. This production is horrendous: awful costumes, bad set design, dancers look like they are being electrocuted... Only the orchestra is good, one thing they didn't spoil is the music.
I think that the costumes might be authentic for the period in which the ballet was set: 1790s to 1812. Although I have to admit that that was the ugliest Nutcracker I've ever seen.
That's a problem: some dresses look like 1790 others like 1820 style in the same scene. And those vile shades of pink, brrr plus grown ups playing kids in awful wigs.
How absolutely stunning visually and musically. It is just perfect....
Unbelievable video quality. You will swear that you have a front row seat. As usual, an excellent performance by the Mariinsky Ballet.
Как же хочу на Щелкунчик в Мариинский! 😍
Wonderful orchestral playing and fabulous sound recording

Lindo.
What a beautiful performance!
Merci🙏🏻 une des meilleures version ❤
This was the best version I’ve ever watched in my entire life!

Thank you for posting this wonderful ballet video, Finally there is a 4k ballet from Mariinski
❤❤❤
The Russian ballet is the best.
The best performance in the world. But what does the Galushkin Kaganate have to do with it? They have a donut hole.

One man vs an army of zombies and yet I will still win the war by not allowing you to use me.
Recorded Date: 2017?
Is that a person in blackface about 20 minutes in?
Estan todas las danzas ? Tipo arabe, rusa, china, española ?

david zaleyev
Who are the dancers?
The Mariinsky Ballet
Renata Shakirova, recently promoted to Prima Ballerina, and David Zaleyev

Funny , Why is Dance of the Reed not performed by children??
Because the children who study at Vaganova Academy were on summer vacation, the school year begins on September 1

Have to agree, even tho Shakirova is great as always, the production just doesnt hold as a high standard as one would expect from Mariinsky...
