Hi David, now 28000km with my CL500. Time for a new Chain (DID VX3). Continental Trail Attack 13000km in good condition....Thanks Frank Duisburg Germany
My CL500 rode 20000km now.Same colour. Changed semi-block to Adventure-tire(Bridgestone). Easy-dart = No,problem. You run same rane as Japan = England? or Australia?
I was looking at the CL but none came up locally at a decent price unfortunately. Another competitor is the CF MOTO 450 MT. Several YTers have tested the 450 Himalayan a second time and the vibes had reduced due to more miles on the engine.
Horses for courses I suppose at the end of the day. I would argue with anyone about RE build quality versus Honda. Ive had 6 new Enfields over the last 4 years and each one has been great, super reliable and ridden all year round. The fit and finish have stood up well to our winter roads, with Royal Enfield you get a 3 year warranty and recovery package against Hondas two years. I agree there has been a spares issue with RE and that is down to RE who have taken over the importing of UK bikes and spares, they are a bunch of amateurs. However, in my Honda days I occasionally had spares issues with back order problems, also had parts arrive damaged and on one occasion 3 attempts to supply an exhaust that wasn't damaged! I've had many new Honda's since 2009 up until 2021 and each came with faults, some major involving recalls for engine strip to replace crank shafts and Gearbox main shafts plus build quality issues, rust and corrosion and the use of inferior parts. I have to admit that I do like the CL500, it would suit my style of riding and it does look good however, a few weeks ago I was looking at CLs and the cheapest I could find was 5.5k for a pre reg. The new Guerrilla is 4850 up to just the other side of 5k. The Triumph has now increased by a further £200 and whist it's a nice looking bike there seem to be a lot of gremlins with it. IE engine management lights coming on and staying on, jerky throttle operation particularly at low speed, oil leaks and no parts to fix them and a range of accessories that aren't currently available. As I say we're all different, horses for courses etc but I have to say that modern REs which are now designed in the UK at their reasearch and development facility are very good value for money and in general well built. I too like the Poole Hall Cafe and was in there today at lunchtime. Excellent prices, well cooked food in a lovely setting. Thanks for the info about bike night, I'll look out for that one.🙂👍
I sold mine to buy a triumph scrambler. It was a cool bike, totally hasslefree. I would have kept it, but two motorcycles are too much for this dude here. Absolutely recommended.
I agree about the advantages of a twin over a single. I’ve got a G310R as a 2nd bike, and after a year of ownership the engine has gone from fun, to abit tedious now. I previously owned a CB500X as my sole bike for a couple of years, and the engine was great in comparison
@simondemetriou7750 Thanks Simon that's interesting , a single does have certain qualities in off road situations but I think for most occasions a twin is best ...thanks for watching 👍
@simondemetriou7750 Thanks Simon, a single does have a place in some off road situations but for general use a twin would be my preference....thanks for watching 👍
Hi David. I was just wondering if the CL is easy to handle. I have dropped my 500x twice now, I find it top heavy once it starts to lean over and the seat is a bit tall too. Cheers 👍
I’ve just bought a BMW 310 GS new for £5500 Chinese engine and built in India and it’s a great bike with a 3 year BMW warranty, but even BMW know they can’t compete if they build there bikes in Berlin it’s a sign of the times don’t be an old grumpy grandad be a modern one it’s the now 😁

Wow Frank that's some serious mileage ...glad it's proving such a solid bike 😊
I like the CL, it's a bit qwirky looking but grows on you quite quickly. Love the old AT 😁
Thank you for the ride with the CL500. My one makes me to smile after every ride. The CL500 is perfect for me 😍🏍️
@@espero7757 I'm the same ... Great bike 🏍 👍

In UK the CL comes with Dunlop Trailmax as standard ...seem fine and wearing well👍

Yes the new 450 MT is a bike I plan to test ride later this week 👍.... Thanks Simon

@jonathandeeley6276 Thanks Jonathan , interesting perspective 👍... all bikes can have issues absolutely...

@cptntwang Glad you liked and recommend it ... I had a Triumph 900 Scrambler before the CL 👍
Great review and thoughts David 👍 Looks the perfect bike for where you live too
@GlynOC Thanks Glyn 😊

I find it very easy Simon , It's seat is lower than the 500X by quite a margin and I think the weight is held lower down .
Thanks David. I think a test ride will be on the cards👍. I love the 500 engine, very flexible for all riding situations. Cheers
Nice one DJ....
It's a great bike , ....but the seat my God it's a killer for the bigger gentleman....😢
Oh dear , have you tried the thicker brown seat option ?
Triumph 400 is awesome 😎
Blimey. Mine's missing a cylinder. I've been short changed!!!!
😂 my mistake bud 👍🏻

@stevenyates6732 oh good point... the CL is strictly speaking 471cc, but they use any excuse to charge !
@@WyreForestBiker I priced hornet 750 at £1500 insurance, z650 rs at £1000 I think it was cb500f was about £700 the prices change every time I look
