Suikoden 1&2 are still in my top 10 games of all time list Was going through my storage this weekend & was suprised to find the Suikoden 2 strategy guide 😁
So much nostalgia! What I loved most about the games is collecting the 108 stars AND watching them live their live in my castle or ship! The cooking mini games, the bath, everything....
1 - it initiated the series and most characters are good 2 - i agree luca blight feels menacing and believably terrorizing agree with the soundtrack too, improved characters and gameplay, cook offs!!! S1 saved game data and george prime 3 - the story and script, characters too, war battles that you cant ignore leveling up everybody, you get to play yuber for oh 10 minutes 4 - backstory and epilogue is rich, kika and grishend looked cool, rune cannon battles made sense 5 - raftfleet, some characters are good, real time war battle oh and george prime
I'm inclined to say the best thing in the Suikoden series is the song Moonlit Night Theme. There's a reason Blast from the Past opened this video with it. :)
Suikoden 1-3 are freakin awesome. I hope they all become more easily accessible. So tired of new systems not having backwards compatibility *ps2 and 3* cough.
The best thing about Suikoden iv is that it ends, the worst thing about it is that it exist (Kiding aside iv had many cool odeas but they were all implemented onnthe worst posible way)
awesome video. I feel like Suikodn 3,4, and 5 came out too soon. Since it came out in an era where full 3D rpgs were still developing to its peak. I feel like if Suikoden 3, 4, and 5 came out during PS4 era or PS5 era. Then it would have been far better off maybe.
I love these games but I couldnt' finish Suikoden V because I accidentally did something that triggered my not being able to take on one of the potential party members and I was pissed lol I hate when things are missable *sigh*
Just wanna say S4 got hated, so bad, but it main character is pretty cool. S3 is one i cant say is memorable by the graphic (personal opinion) but has the Best Intro. S1 is basic but it all where is all start S5 personal favorite, favorite main characters (got a crush on Frey & Roy) love the song and story S2… Just as better then FFVII i said it.
To be honest, for the 3D entries I feel like IV looked better graphically than V, but they both were not as good as III in animation quality. I think that V has the best strategic battle system in the series with IV as a close second and III has my least favourite major battles. Story wise, I prefer III and its characters as I felt like while IV and V had some fantastic characters, IV could have given some of the characters who had major roles some more polish and V had characters that felt unsuitable for the mature storyline of the game. III to me was the weakest in the general visuals, music as well as its battle system, but I do like how easy it was to get to locations due to it not having a world map even though I do love a good world map and I love how some SoD are mountable.
@Blast From The Past Jeane is the best too! I was so hyped to have her actually join my party in 4 only to still learn nothing about her. I really want a return to the Suikoden series just to address all the characters with mysterious backgrounds.
Right? there are still a lot of mysteries to discover in the world o Suikoden! I'm actually writing up some scripts for videos diving deep into it's world, characters and lore. Hope you can watch it once it's released! 🙂

I lucked out... back in college I worked for Prima. Was rearranging their vault and came across a couple copies. They let me take one home :)

Lucky, mine got used so much it wasn't holding together anymore. Those things are very expensive now.

Yep, you can start via release date, chronologically, OR you can also start with what is considered the best one (Suikoden 2)

The rune graphics in III are superior to all the others
