I was behind this car today in the traffic lights and it really does stand out and look much better in real life. The rear LED lights are nicely designed and the side of the car looks sporty and not boring.
DRAKO9764 wrong. It has Subaru parts but the FRS/GT86/BRZ was created based on the corolla AE86 history. That car has Subaru parts but it was created for the Toyota brand. If I owned one I would rip out the Subaru engine and put in a 2JZ or a Toyota 2GR
Toyota4Life - wrong :)) Sorry, but the Toyota GT86 can't be based on an AE 86 history because that's just not how the car industry works. It's supposed to reminisce the AE 86 yes, but this is a totally new and different car, it's like the Fiat 500 of Toyota with the exception that it's actually a Subaru, so it's actually the Fiat 124 of Toyota because just like the Fiat 124 being manufactured in Japan by Mazda so is the Toyota GT86 manufactured by SUBARU! I know Toyota owns part of Subaru. Quote from wiki "The 86 is a series of sports cars jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru and solely manufactured by Subaru." Plus the Subaru is rarer as just 1 Subaru is being built for every 8 GT86!
i doubt it is worse than Mitsubishi Space Wagon 92(Charriot or Expo in other countries) digital clock, picture here:www.google.com.br/search?q=space+wagon+92&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=918&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjbtZjA79TRAhUGvZAKHWGjD2UQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=0sLps-Kqxioe8M%3A
My dad owns it. What James says about the Hybrid model is all true. The Prius is a much better hybrid. I wish they tuned it a bit better for this car. Headroom in the back is still perfect, I'm 6.2/1,88. People do go "Wow" when they see this car. Also, some versions also come with automated parking, which is awesome!
Is it an automatic ? and how about the engine itself when you accelerate does the engine sounds loud ? some people said better go with the manual transmission less noisy than an automatic one.
there is actually a number of us who like clocks of 80s japanese cars. in 00s they could've been old fashioned but now they are rather traditional. similar thing merc had with their analogue clocks that were featured even in W211. after all, what's wrong with clear, precise and easily visible clock in the cockpit?
But: the Mercedes analog clock looks classy - the Toyota clock looks just cheap. But what is really strange is, that they introduced that cheap digital clock in the 2012 Auris Model, while the privious versions didn't had it. IMO all the Toyota cockpits since 2012 are looking much "cheaper" than before.
+Michael Kehm clock in Maserati or Bentley is classy. the one in Merc is as classy as a road kill. only 2006 - 2012 auris did not have this classic clock. and that is actually one of the cheapest looking toyota interiours ever! corollas before did have clock like this, as well as the most of toyotas in 80s, 90s, 00s...
I have had 3 Toyota Rav automatics with a 2 litre petrol engine and torque converter automatic. Non turbo engine had decent performance and the gearbox was as smooth as silk. However am ready to buy my next new car. For me the looks of the CHR hybrid are really amazing and it's interior looks so modern and hi tech. At the moment I have a 2 litre turbo diesel with the DSG automatic box. It's a solid reliable comfortable and safe car. Being a retired ex VW mechanic I can honestly say I will miss it. However I have only had two issues with it. After 2 years from new the windscreen needed replaced under warranty due to it delaminating. My other negative experience was with the DSG 7 speed dry clutches autobox. It was reliable and super smooth 90% of the time but could be jerky in town traffic. I decided that it was time to go back to a petrol automatic and really loved the look of the CHR. However for me there are several negative points about the Toyota that have delayed my decision to order a Dynamic CHR Hybrid. The 1.2 turbo engine doesn't interest me. It's just to small. However you then have the hybrid 1.8 non turbo, with the love it or hate it CVT automatic. Most big motorcycles have more bhp than the 1.8 engine. Its performance is basically the same as the 1.2 turbo. 0 to 62 mph in 11 seconds is pretty slow . Top speed is also very low. However I don't drive fast and have my grandkids in the back so performance is not the most important factor. However refinement is very important to me and many road tests have pointed out that the engine revs highly when pushed as the CVT gearbox catches up. I have yet to have a road test to really see if I could live with a CHR hybrid long term. The other car that I am interested in is a BMW 2 litre twin turbo Active Tourer with a super smooth 8 speed traditional Automatic gearbox. On paper the BMW beats the Toyota on every point except for looks and economy. It's pure luxury on the inside but is a bit boring to look at. However the BMW will have no problems with driving up and down highland glens fully loaded or overtaking on fast motorways. It also has a better sat nav and a CD player. I don't fancy sitting on a motorway in the Toyota starship enterprise with huge lorries two feet from my rear end intimidating the life out of me. Anyone got the hybrid CHR who can offer some reliable advice.
I meant just the appearance. They both have a similar high lined body style, but the Juke just looks cutesy and weird, like a cartoon, while the C-HR looks techy and cool, like a scifi vehicle. Even six years ago Nissan could have done far better.
Juke is in it's own class - look at Nismo version, that's it. This CH-R is not better or worse - it isn't contender and targeted at different audience. However I agree that Juke should have had Qashqai like dashboard and conveniences. In any case Juke is very enjoyable car to ride.
80386 - I agree, I've got the Honda hrv and it seems like the name of this Toyota car is the same but instead c-hr Toyota. Nissan in the front and Honda the back. I think the Honda hrv came out first before this car. I love my hrv but my sisters Toyota Yaris has had faulty problems from one after another.
Stop telling about electric range on a hybrid vehicle. That just tells how little you understand the system and idea behind it. You don't compare them with electric cars in range, but how often you are driving in electric mode. In C-HR you are 50% or even more in electric mode in city type of driving if you have basic skills how to drive a hybrid. And yes, that's exactly 1,5 miles if you drive 3 miles. But drive 10 miles and that's 5 miles. Are you getting it?
Dan Lion hey ho, the Audi A1 is an absolutely tiny car, and both my tall friends, and my... Tall the other way friends... can fit in it fine. In fact, they're very comfortable.
Making windows smaller, obstructing visibility, adding more and more multimedia features is a great reason to then upsell you on safety equipment, like blind-spot monitoring, dynamic cruse-control, 360 cameras, parking sensors, auto-parking.
what are you talking about? how can you stop the turbos? turbo's are running all the time. just in the lower rpm, it's not fast enough to do any good. though i doubt it would be an issue for these turbo's since they are soo small.
NickLiang not everyone knows how an engine works. so i think its alrite to make a mistake, then someone else corrects them. That's how everyone learns!
£28k for a top of the range Dynamic model, and then £1600 for leather and a decent stereo. The range topping Prius is a lot cheaper than this, comes with head up display, and rear anti-collision sonar. It's also far more efficient as a hybrid, although it's looks are arguably more divisive. Also can't believe you have to fork out for the Dynamic to get LED headlights and rear lights. These come as standard on even the entry level Prius.
Finally!! Something that looks desirable from Toyota, that great appliance manufacturer! Well done, I say. Now if only they had given it (much) more power!
the 1.2 turbo is rated at 115hp, a bit disappointing, the old toyota glanza was 1.3 turbo and with the turbo boost button you had the option of 110 more or less or 130 hp, why not something like that here?
The door handles on the back doors are ridiculously high up. it may get abit annoying opening the doors for mid sized children all the time (the ones that are old enough to not need a booster seat but not tall enough to reach the handles.)
You might think it's quite tight inside but actually it's not that bad, especially compared to CX-3 which was a bit unrealistically cramped, it's about as same as Volvo V40.
Hi guys I have now been in my mates one it's okay but the carving is very dark and the road noise is very high and is a very small cabin so it's not for me thank you very much cheers Phil
That's ignorant. How else do you want them to display the time? That's the easiest and quickest way to know what time is. It's for efficiency and safety; another second of looking at (something else besides the window shield) and figuring what time it is could spell danger.

First toyota car's design I like since a very long time
Konrad Kowalczyk Toyota gt86
Guess it's because the back looks like an American Civic.
the gt 86 it's actually a Subaru, and it's ugly (the front is horrible) and has bad brakes

BEST LOOKING TOYOTA EVER MADE...they finally tried
They should have make panorama moon roof standard to compensate for lighting of small windows in the back
it's easier to my eye than Juke, actually it looks quite awesome
What's wrong with 1990 toyota carina?
Jere Heimonen The clock.
Danne6und8zig the clock was fine in the 1990 but they seriously need to replace the digital clock. I have the same clock in my 86. Needs to go!
Nowadays, they incorporate them into the infotainment systems. Of course, that usually makes them smaller and harder to read.
i doubt it is worse than Mitsubishi Space Wagon 92(Charriot or Expo in other countries) digital clock, picture here:www.google.com.br/search?q=space+wagon+92&espv=2&biw=1280&bih=918&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjbtZjA79TRAhUGvZAKHWGjD2UQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=0sLps-Kqxioe8M%3A
Jere Heimonen Nothing... For me best sedan of Toyota

It looks like Toyota Prius and Toyota RAv4 had a kid and it looks good.
Kristijan Stojanović lol
Kristijan Stojanović lol
I have just taken delivery of a hybrid model, no issue at all with the car driving* on battery power around town.
Is it an automatic ? and how about the engine itself when you accelerate does the engine sounds loud ? some people said better go with the manual transmission less noisy than an automatic one.
I would buy the 1.2 Turbo engine gasoline cause when you replace hybrid batteries it's super damn expensive!!
I love the retro style clock...
Best review of the Toyota Chr I have seen on TH-cam so far! Well done carbuyer!
About time they produced a car that looks good!

Soft touch plastics. No review is ever complete without that phrase.
Scooper MG I don't like to pay a lot for cheap thin pieces of plastics all around my car. Do you? Bitch
NBASFAN p
I love the digital clock, it Toyota signature character and vintage -
It has a manual! Respect ✊
Love it - it's everything the Juke aspired to be and more.
Well, Toyota did have around six years to make sure that the CH-R will be better than the Juke...
I meant just the appearance. They both have a similar high lined body style, but the Juke just looks cutesy and weird, like a cartoon, while the C-HR looks techy and cool, like a scifi vehicle. Even six years ago Nissan could have done far better.

Had no idea these types of models existed. Was looking for a coupe, and this just opened up so many more options.
Went to see one with my husband , it's awesome , a bit pricey, but for the right deal we will definitely think about getting one
How is being able to put your feet under the front seat a device?
Jack Bailhache right! 😂😂
Jack Bailhache its an invincible device
Device as in a trick. Putting your feet under the seat to increase headroom is a device.
The digital clock itself is not bad...
The FLASHING DOTS in the middle is what will drive me crazy....constantly flashing...
Looks like Nissan from the side, Honda from the back. The name sounds like Honda too.
80386 I was thinking the same thing!!
80386 Nissan took the ideas from the original 3 door rav 4
truuee
80386 - I agree, I've got the Honda hrv and it seems like the name of this Toyota car is the same but instead c-hr Toyota. Nissan in the front and Honda the back. I think the Honda hrv came out first before this car. I love my hrv but my sisters Toyota Yaris has had faulty problems from one after another.
Isslem. Boucenna
holy crap the rear looks like their trying to pull an x6
Looks like a beast no matter how many times you see one, think it needs to be in this colour or some silver/darkish colour.
Best execution of incorporating a non-retracting dash screen into interior styling; from any auto maker yet.
It looks like it has Ray 4 taillights for headlights, if you put them at an angle
"Children won't like it back here". That is if they reach the doorhandle and get in, in the first place. 😏
Great review!
the window in the rear looks like jail.
IKR.. visibility in modern cars is a joke.
Kai Liu haha true
You know what jail looks like.
Which kid look out the windows these days, they are too busy playing their mobile phones. 🤣
I'm in LOVE WITH THE CAR CAR😍😭
Happy to see that Toyota has started to mind easthetic sense something it did not care about previously
That digital clock is a life saver for me......I can't stand without a watch....Any other car offer this but Toyota does......I like it very much.....
That digi watch is a trademark and legendary, i like it! just order hybrid C-HR.
Stop telling about electric range on a hybrid vehicle. That just tells how little you understand the system and idea behind it. You don't compare them with electric cars in range, but how often you are driving in electric mode. But drive 10 miles and that's 5 miles. Are you getting it?
The clock there is probably the most practical thing in the entire car 🚗
I love it😍 great review as always
That digital clock is a must!
awesome.. it looks like it should be a Honda..would be better with Honda's diesel engine And what is Car buyers fixation with cup holders?
The car design gives a feel of Gurkha,,,amazing!!!
I''m one of those who hates the styling of this car.
Oscar Lee You are not alone. It's hideous
It's too tall. It might work with compact proportions. It looks like somebody stretched it without paying attention to aspect ratio.
Someone really has to fire Toyota's design team. They suck!
bit sit in it and you will never want to sit in a "normal car" its to small feeling if your kinda tall or a little fat hehe
Dan Lion
hey ho, the Audi A1 is an absolutely tiny car, and both my tall friends, and my... Tall the other way friends... can fit in it fine. In fact, they're very comfortable.
It's nice and I dig it but it kinda looks like nissan juke ?
Sweet review, and the car.
just got mine in ruby red loving it so much.. 😍😍😍
if you dont drive it carefully for the hybrid? roughly how much do you get with both careful and not careful driving?
How come we can only have a CVT gearbox with four wheel drive versions of the C-HR?
Why tf are windows becoming smaller and smaller every year?
By 2025 I bet there will be no side windows on cars...
Making windows smaller, obstructing visibility, adding more and more multimedia features is a great reason to then upsell you on safety equipment, like blind-spot monitoring, dynamic cruse-control, 360 cameras, parking sensors, auto-parking.
i have one question if we don't use turbo mode so its mean car is in a normal 1.2 liter mode or its fuel intake is like turbo ?
what are you talking about? how can you stop the turbos? turbo's are running all the time. just in the lower rpm, it's not fast enough to do any good. though i doubt it would be an issue for these turbo's since they are soo small.
Sombody You Dont Know ohh
Are you seriously asking if you can switch off the turbo mode in a turbo charged car LOL
NickLiang

May I know what is this colour for this car review?
ash grey
Love it, specially the hybrid
Looks good, but where is more bigger turboengine (1.5 liter) and more power!!. 😕
this thing is gorgeous!
why did they put Civic lights on the back?
forget the pretty pictures where do I find engine details etc ?
Finally!! Something that looks desirable from Toyota, that great appliance manufacturer! Well done, I say. Now if only they had given it (much) more power!
Which hybrid system do you prefer? Toyota CH-R vs. Kia Niro... I live in the city... :) The Kia Niro appears to be larger in real world use too...
Obviously completing with the Nissan Juke
Like with the Juke, I don't particularly like it nor do I hate it. But I'm glad it exists.
I'm looking after the review of Toyota ch r please tell me when!
the 1.2 turbo is rated at 115hp, a bit disappointing, the old toyota glanza was 1.3 turbo and with the turbo boost button you had the option of 110 more or less or 130 hp, why not something like that here?
Mostly how I imagined it. Thanks for a great review
The door handles on the back doors are ridiculously high up. it may get abit annoying opening the doors for mid sized children all the time (the ones that are old enough to not need a booster seat but not tall enough to reach the handles.)
OMG I can't believe the even the CHR got the Casio clock too! Is this some kind of weird law in Japan?
Great review😁
i like the clock , very cool!!!😎😎
a clock on the dash is fine, but it would be nicer if it was a bit bigger.
i love the design btw nice video
You might think it's quite tight inside but actually it's not that bad, especially compared to CX-3 which was a bit unrealistically cramped, it's about as same as Volvo V40.
so this car comes only with manual?
this is the off spring of the Nissan juke an the 2016 Maxima SL
saw one on the road yesterday, looks better in pictures/video...
do you guys know if you lived in Indonesia youvwill see toyota everywhere
Testarossa same in India.
that is absolutely fantastic I love it.
Never really considered a Toyota but I really like this one! Not sure about these door handles though
This reviewer reminds me of Quentin Wilson from back in the day.
Donal Hoban I like it
I mistakenly thought it was a new Honda because of the civic style rear taillights and the interior screen.
I really like the design. Looks like a mix of the juke ( which I hate with passion!) and a Honda civic from the rear lights
When will be this car launch in India ?
I think the designer of this car made the movie transformers!this is Toyota Megatron!
do u have any oldertoyoto yaris for sale
That C-pillar blind spot looks like an utter nightmare.
rav4 from the front
juke from the side
civic hatch from the back
i don't know why but I like how small the windows are. No one will stare on you or peek inside
Looks bold and stylish. Looks great
isnt 1.2 petrol underpowered to compare with mazda cx3 ? how does it go in mountain roads or highways ? im afraid the EU version sucks to compare with US version , ive heard they will get 2 L petrol ! thats unfair
Nice review!
Can Child open back door?
Displaying time is old-fashion now is it?
is it me or do the rear lights look like that on a civic
it looks like the batcar from The Dark Night
The Toyota LCD clock is cool.
Will there be a C-HR Nurburgring Edition?
best design ever i had seen
The moment I saw it I thought it was a Honda from the back
If I recall, isn't the hybrid the quicker model.
AWD available?
Why don't they make their big SUVs like this!? I love the design, but it is quite small and impractical.
it looks small (like Nissan juke) but it's almost the size of Nissan qashqai
Grocery touch smile below major right grave difference contrast
