I'm a single woman, and LOVE THIS MINI UTE! I had a Juke and was sad to let her go, but so glad I found this . As for slow, meh. I drive in the DC metro area, and can get out in front of another car with no problem. It has lane warnings and blind spot warnings. Not keen on reduced visibility when backing up, ,but the mirror has a rear view camera and the screen is in the rear view mirror. The screen isn't grainy. It works just fine! This is roomier than my Juke, the safety features are awesome. I don't need the 4 wheel anymore, for I'm not rural. Front wheel works well in snow and ice around the burbs fine. Overall? LOVE LOVE LOVE !
I bought a 2019 CHR XLE in October. I really like the way it handles and it is agile. I like to put 93 octane in mine (there is ONE station that offers 93 in my area). The engine really likes extra octane and it only adds up to about $150/year. The design has significant blind spots, so my salesman cranked the mirror sensors up. Use the mirrors, and you’ll be fine. Mine handles well in the snow of MN. I bought the Blizzard White Pearl with black top and LOVE the contrast. I put aftermarket “I can’t believe they’re not leather” seat covers on and regret that I didn’t just buy leather seats. I really like that the mirrors fold in, something my 2016 Highlander did not have. I was hit bad in the Highlander, so wanted out of it altogether. I truly enjoy driving the C-HR!
So weird because I literally just saw one of these on the road and thought "what the hell is that?" I let it drive past me and now I'm here. Looks very nice.
I considered getting one... but after much research, I'm now much more interested in getting a 2019 Corolla. The Corolla is less expensive, handles better, has better acceleration, AND gets better MPGs. Yes, arguably the new Corolla isn't as cool looking. (Although looks are subjective.) And yes, the cargo area in the Corolla isn't quite as large as what you get with this CH-R. But overall I think the Corolla gets you more bang for your buck. Based upon my research, the Honda HR-V would be a better sub-compact SUV to buy if you really want to go that sub-compact SUV route. I think the C-HR is slightly under-powered and slightly over-priced for what you get. (For example, that entertainment system is old and has GOT to go. And what's up with no moon-roof and no AWD option?) Don't get me wrong... I LOVE Toyotas, having owned five in my lifetime and considering getting yet another one. If the CH-R offered a few more features while at the same time dropping the price a bit, Toyota would have a winner. As it is, no, not yet.
This is actually one of the prettiest Hybrids (ofc there's a petrol version) out there. When every hybrid under a certain price point is trying to copy the Prius, the CH-R is Unique. The hybrid version of this car is absolutely amazing for the price. Exactly what you want if you're into hybrids but also like to sit high and see everything around you.
Literally just waiting for the mid cycle refresh that adds turbo, leather, Navigation and Led taillights (like the current Canada/EU models.) maybe even a sun roof. The car is incredibly stylish in person and Toyota really doesn't have to fix much to make this a killer. LOL at trolls trying to call this thing ugly. This thing looks better than the Honda ver. and shockingly possibly the Mazda. Again you must see this thing in person to understand why.
The more likely update will get the M20A-FKS engine rated at 168 bhp--essentially the drivetrain from the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. Even that 24 bhp power boost will make the C-HR a lot more "fun" to drive. Because the C-HR is built using the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, it might even be possible to put in the 205 bhp A25A-FKS engine (found on the current Camry) into the C-HR, and that may dramatically make it a better vehicle.
People saying the Honda HR-V is so much better, maybe so in certain ways. But it screams soccer mom. This is way sportier and style looks more current not early 2000s like the HR-V.
I'm assuming the camera guy and the dude who plans the shot is the same person, but regardless, who ever it is in charge of that stuff is doing a truly great job. I particularly like the shot where the camera pans into the cabin from the outside with the door closed, but as the camera gets closer the door opens, seemingly by itself. The other thing is how the camera mimics the script (or the other way round), adding another level of depth to the video; I know you don't get that sort of stuff without good planning and communication, which I also know is difficult when there's a busy schedule. Great looking, really inventive, good jobs all round. Keep it up!
Very cool of you to notice. I built those visual ideas into my scripts then collaborate with our production team on how best to implement them. You're right, it's a combination of planning and great communication.
Exactly ....u took words out of my mouth. This is by far the best presentation till now. They have set up the bar way higher for others to reach.👍 These guys are the bestest in their business. Passionate is the only suitable word here.
This car looks like a Yaris up front, a Honda from the rear end, and a mixture of a Murano and a Veloster from the side. It's not completely ugly, but like Micah said it has a lot going on.
Or better yet, why not offer the 2018 Camry's 200+hp 2.5L Dynamic Force I4 with its 8-spd auto w/ rev-matching, with AWD? It would make it the most powerful sub SUV in the class, more so than both the Juke and CX-3.
sadly, that makes too much sense for Toyota. I think this car is being marketed for millennials that want a quirky looking car and be economical at the same time. This car reminds me of rally cars which is what I want it to be.
The absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto really hurts the C-HR for me. You can get those in just about every other major manufacturer's cars, including subcompacts like the Honda Fit. C'mon, Toyota, it won't hurt to throw it in.
So does C-HR. I just sat in one, this afternoon. The R Code, does not come with leather. He's a bit ambiguous, with that information. CarPlay sucks. It is cumbersome and often times, just doesn't work (I drive rental cars, on an almost weekly basis and so, get to try it out, on lots of different cars, often.) No need to be compatible with that. Good job Toyota. Nothing lost there.
The Australian spec is really much higher, 1.2L Turbo, integrated nav, options for AWD and leather. I reviewed one recently and it drove pretty well. As for the styling it's hard to be neutral about it, you either love it or hate it. Also kudos to the camera guy, some really nice shots in there :)
Jayden W. So? Honestly I own 2015 Scion xB2.5 and I am fucking happy with my toaster. I own it for 3 years and I will never get rid of it. Atleast I get 12 more hp than this but still. 144 is not bad.
The front of this car is really stunning. Almost makes up for the poor blind spot visibility, lack of a good back up camera, and no android/apple car play. If they just updated that infotainment then I would rush out to buy this car.
Oyinade Ekuola I bought one yesterday. Been getting looks ever since. It's quicker than people say as far as on the street. Highway pickup will lag. Comfy inside. Lotta wind noise. Audio is good enough. Wheels are bad ass.
I love these and almost bought one but then drove a Volkswagen Tiguan and felt the Tiguan was more practical considering features, price & cargo space. And I wasn’t wanting a CVT transmission. But I’m still so curious about this CH-R! I wish I could have both
Just curious that why every time you compare a car in this category you don't mention subaru crosstrek... I think it is in this segment and it is not bad. I'm still struggling between a crosstrek or just a hatchback like civic...
When I took my dads Avalon for oil change st the Toyota dealer, I decided t go check Toyota cars again, and I finally get to see outside and inside my god that sharp ass ride is one beautiful CUV. The feeling of the C-HR interior is awesome. I want this as my second car, not trading my baby xB2.5, I want both of them for my own.😍😍😍😍
I have one of these(2018)', and I swear it runs better in Eco mode than the Sport mode. When in Sport mode, the CVT seems like it cannot make up its mind of what gear it needs to be in and sounds like the engine is going to blow up. Set aside this and the lack of GPS, its a decent little ride.
Until Micah pointed it out, I didn't realize how claustrophobic the back seats are. Once the door shuts, the back passenger seems to disappear. And what's up with just 144 hp? And the back up camera on the rear view mirror? I don't know about that.
A big problem with the C-HR is that the engine is not sufficient to make the car more "fun" to drive. It really needs the 168 bhp M20A-FKS engine found on the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback (as the Toyota Auris is known in North America) to make it a more viable vehicle. I believe that the C-HR could accommodate the M20A-FKS easily.
A lot of us don’t need AWD- I’ve been in Oklahoma all my life and drive smaller cars and in the bad weather and I’ve been absolutely fine. It’s just more parts to break when AWD messes up. You lose gas mileage and it makes for a heavier car. So no, it’s not the best value for everyone Gill.

I seen one of these coming down the street recently, (Maybe a newer 2020?) and I thought it was a SPACE SHIP. I was surprised at how much it jumped out in a sea of regular cars.
The view from the back seats in this gave me nightmares of my Dad's old two-door '95 Nissan Pathfinder.....a two-door SUV. You wanna talk claustrophobic, the back seats only had two small, triangular windows that open up only just a crack to let air in. That thing carrying a family of six in a road trip across Nigerian desert plains with no AC....a nightmare. I hated those back seats. This C-HR would be a breath of fresh air.
It was supposed to be a released as a Scion, hence the lack of options for leather and sunroof. It follows Scion's one trim scheme that's why most features are included, but not all that you may want. That explains the aftermarket looking head unit and backup camera in the rear view mirror. In other markets they offer the CH-R with AWD, 1.2L turbo, and a hybrid powertrain overall, a more cohesive package than the one we get here in the US.
Why s everybody complains so much ? Yes it has it bad things but every car does plus it looks cool and is very popular where I live and everybody I know loves it 😐😐😐😐😐
I went from a 07 ford focus to this car. Needless to say, I'M HAPPY! People can nit pick all they want but it all come down to what you like personally.
I've owned a lot of cars over the years. I bought a green and white CHR for my wife She loves it and it gets good comments all the time from strangers. Also hiway mpg at 32. City at 27.5. Not a fast car, but 70mph at end of on ramp is no problem.
HEY! I had an xB and that was the best car I ever had. Never had one issue with it and had so much room. Had it 10 years and sold it to my brother. Wish they kept them.
I just really don't understand why they haven't brought the other trims from other markets. The Hybrid and all wheel drive versions would sell much better than this base.
Micah Muzio U are so much better at ur work...it doesn't seem like a boring review any more, like most others. U have taken the car review to a totally different level which hardly any 1 cud do. U guys are TOP class. , U and ur team, specially, the camera guy, By presenting in this awesome way..I bet, u cud sell even a junkyard garbage to any one for a big price😋💪 I give u nothing less than an Oscar for ur this video...for ur unique presentation and also because I totally loved this car👌 Now I am confused....I love this car for what it is or for how u reviewed it in such a fantastic way...😍 Keep ur spirit same in each of ur vids. I am ur fan forever ...onwards...MICAH😉
on video i thought its super beautiful...but in person its just like a rav4 with wide body styling.... they have a 2018 camry with way more power and better mpg....why not use that engine on the chr
I honestly don't understand why Toyota offers so many impracticalities in the US version... The EU version (well, at least the Dutch version) offers an 8 inch screen including the back-up camera, and offers factory navigation in every trim level but the base trim. In the more expensive versions (36000 euros, base price 26000 euros), leather seats are available as well on the Executive edition. We have the so-called "bi tone" trim, but (oddly enough) instead of a white roof, we get a metallic black roof. Which is, in my opinion, combined with Hydro Blue as shown at 4:47, may be the best colour you can get this car in. Although here, the other options are red, black, white, grey, grey and silver. Very grey, if you ask me. Other than all of that, nice review :) Thank you!
I find that this car has a lot of potential, but what’s holding it back most is how it’s more of a Scion and not a Toyota. The infotainment is from later Scions, and the car is equipped like a Scion too, and lacks many features this car should have, especially AWD. Hopefully they do a refresh soon to address this.
What I don't understand is why they offer this in the rest of the world with leather seats and a turbo engine. Why send only the lowest strip down version to the US?
Consider yourself lucky. I feel compassionate today, were you a mate with a time in school where the football players got the girls and or picked on like me? 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 #mindblown🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Toyota doesn't really do turbos in these entry level cars. Lower HP NA cars are what they love

I've owned a lot of cars over the years. I bought a green and white CHR for my wife She loves it and it gets good comments all the time from strangers. Also hiway mpg at 32. City at 27.5. Not a fast car, but 70mph at end of on ramp is no problem.
Toyota learns past mistakes. It will fix the problems
Saad Qureshi Got to learn how to drive like we used to. Rear wheel only. Of course, we weren't Nancy- boys back then either.
What is great is apparently this Toyota in Europe comes with the leather seats, AWD and sav Nav. Also the reversing camera works on the big screen.
Does this car have a 5 star safety rating? I am a new driver and I’m looking for a nice and affordable car. I really like this one!
Toyota could have made a much more competitive subcompact SUV. This is dreadful Scion leftover.
Graham Jefferson no it’s not.
HEY! I had an xB and that was the best car I ever had. Never had one issue with it and had so much room.
Had it 10 years and sold it to my brother. Wish they kept them.
why does the US miss out on all this stuff? In NZ the C-HR comes with LED headlights, full LED tail lights and satellite navigation and AWD
How can you open trunk without remote control but I can’t?
I just really don't understand why they haven't brought the other trims from other markets. The Hybrid and all wheel drive versions would sell much better than this base.
So this guy was DEFINITELY a drummer...
Just bought one of these
Does it use up alot gas?
Are you a drummer? If so my interest in this channel just went up significantly. Please make more videos of drumming on cars.

U are so much better at ur work...it doesn't seem like a boring review any more, like most others.
U have taken the car review to a totally different level which hardly any 1 cud do.
U guys are TOP class. , U and ur team, specially, the camera guy,
By presenting in this awesome way..I bet, u cud sell even a junkyard garbage to any one for a big price😋💪
I give u nothing less than an Oscar for ur this video...for ur unique presentation and also because I totally loved this car👌
Now I am confused....I love this car for what it is or for how u reviewed it in such a fantastic way...😍
Keep ur spirit same in each of ur vids.
I am ur fan forever ...onwards...MICAH😉
What’s the color please?
Dear Toyota, I'm really looking forward to your redesigned line up after you fire your current design team.
Needs an update as this video is out of date. The C-HR has a good backup screen now and has Apple Car Play as well.
Is this the bonus video of this week ? :)
This guy really likes Game of Thrones. Rock on, mate 🤘
on video i thought its super beautiful...but in person its just like a rav4 with wide body styling.... they have a 2018 camry with way more power and better mpg....why not use that engine on the chr
So... dont buy it?
PitchTrails uuhhh no. Toyota are better then check trax and Mazda XX-3. Although I would atleast take CX-3 over trax. But still. C-HR is very nice
Actually I was the first to buy this car in my city and im loving it!
On Carwow, the European CHR does have AWD, sa we don't get it
Toyota C-HR, Kia Soul, vs the new Nissan Kicks : Which one would you drive?
Do you listen to btbam Mr Micah?
I love chr toyota
I love Toyota C-HR
Not hating the vehicle but just wondering how well will this vehicle age in a couple of years.
Cargo space is practically useless! You guys should do a real test & try to fit a few pieces of luggage.
On point review as always.
Does this vehicle saves up on gas?
most toyota cars are excellent on gas
I find that this car has a lot of potential, but what’s holding it back most is how it’s more of a Scion and not a Toyota. The infotainment is from later Scions, and the car is equipped like a Scion too, and lacks many features this car should have, especially AWD. Hopefully they do a refresh soon to address this.
2018 being 6 years ago is crazy
Your funny as hell, love your reviews
1. mitsubishi outlander
2. mazda cx-3 and honda hr-v (tie)
3. toyota c-hr
REPLY
I wanted the Hyundai Santa Fe but not I changed my mind. I want the Toyota C HR so badly. ;^;
What’s the highest Trim Level ?
The Limited model starts around $26,000
What I don't understand is why they offer this in the rest of the world with leather seats and a turbo engine. Why send only the lowest strip down version to the US?
No moonroof?
I can’t wait to get mines
Looks like one of those body builders who have muscles in places they shouldn't
Consider yourself lucky. I feel compassionate today, were you a mate with a time in school where the football players got the girls and or picked on like me? 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱 #mindblown🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Looks like Toyota is taking inspiration from Lexxus sleek designs.
Looks better than a Prius, so I can’t complain 👍
I rather buy the HR-V for terms of practicality
As soon as I heard Toyota don’t sell the CHR in all wheel drive I stop watching I live in a state in the mid west with snow
