      That's why I wish these armchair mechanics would abstain from posting their little nitpicks and comments and just enjoy the video. Dude knows what he's doing - he doesn't need some neckbeard in mommy's basement telling him how to do his job.

      I drive for a local fuel distributor, I currently drive a 2017 International LT DayCab. My last truck was a 2010 Maxxturd with the 12.4 Liter Maxxturd Diesel Engine. The 2017 that I drive now has a Cummins 15 liter, it is a great truck, this engine is pretty loud, but overall it very nice, then low end torque is especially impressive. I have begged, threatened to quit, threatened to quit and take half there driver with me, cussed until I ran out of cuss words..............all to try to get them to buy me a Kenworth, a Freightliner, a Western Star.....anything but a damn Navistar, they refuse. I hate them for this, I am the senior driver, been there for 14 years, I make exceptional money, but I still might quit if someone would buy me anything other than a damn International. I once owned my own truck, and I would not hesitate to have KT rebuild my engine. Half of the problem that I have with my shit spreader is the fact that the International shop is over worked and poorly motivated. The other half of my problem is the tire shop that this dealership uses is COMPLETELY incompetent. I have taken my truck to the shop on two thursdays in a row, just trying to get them to balance my steer tires, my steer tires still have 0 weights on them.

      I agree, some of the characters on TH-cam operate in a very messy/dirty environment for their rebuilds. I don't watch them more than twice, or so. I will keep watching here until I can't see anymore, or he decides he is not putting up with the idiots.
      Best wishes

      Absolutely agree 100%, he does this for our enjoyment and education, He does not need a bunch of arm chair quarterbacks telling him what hes doing wrong, its clear he has an interesting channel or would not have 83,000+ VIEWS in less than 72 HOURS, now that is interesting in itself, This guy has a good sense of humor in his own way, hes not afraid to say that was wrong or it was wrong, The guy is doing this to help us out and we enjoy it and learn from his work and taking the time to video and share, I personally appreciate each one of his videos and this is why I am a subscriber.

      I'm no diesel mechanic, but my guess is he puts in a couple additional hours on one of these builds with all the extra "attention to details " steps. Perhaps money out of his pocket initially, but in the end, he's built a better product, feels better about it and no doubt has gained some additional jobs because of it.

      Dealer techs are no different than Indies
      Humans.
      If they are paid by job, they skip as much as possible to meet an acceptable return rate. Read:not too high to get fired.
      If they are flat rate, they get enough done not to get fired.
      People who are exceptional at this stuff are too busy working projects like this to take call in business. Have fun waiting 18 months for amazing work at any price.

    Whenever things get to big for me to move around or lift I ask myself what KT3406E would do then figure it out!
    I doubt anyone who leaves a negative comments has ever built an engine. How does someone mistake a cheater bar for a torque wrench anyway?

    • @Aegirak
      @Aegirak 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Isaac's Garage I don’t even like to call it a cheater bar. My dad who was a mechanic who was retired and a USN vet called it a “force multiplier” which he said was the correct nomenclature.

      @brianwood7480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might "say" you're not mechanically inclined, but you are fascinated by this man's humble, but OCD approach to his quest for perfection. The more you watch, and the more you listen, the better you understand something that you thought was beyond your own percieved abilities. I'd bet that once you took on a project (not a 700hp engine rebuild, lol) you would figure it out and finish it perfectly.
      I'm a 73 year old retired industrial electrician (marine & oilfield) , and have had the pleasure of servicing enormous types of rotating equipment. But I've never worked a day in my life, because I'm at my best & happiest when I have tools in my hands. Now think of something that you'd like to fix, and go fix it.
      Well done in advance. Cheers.

    When you plastiguage something like the mains, if the clearance is out of spec how do you fix it?

    • @patrick11169
      @patrick11169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      depends on whitch way its outta spec, if the clearance is too small, bore the bearings, with em installed, until their to size. if too large, bore gauge and figure out if you have a out of round, order oversize bearings and bore to size.

    • @weedies7577
      @weedies7577 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      pretty sure u can get it in spec with different bearing thickness

    • @patrick11169
      @patrick11169 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@weedies7577 depends on what they offer in bearing sizes, some engines like the cats/cummins/detroit stuff you can, but for the more odball stuff, jeere, old mack e7's, kubota, mitsubishi, ect, they might not offer the inbetween sizes, just std/ .10 over ect.

    • @lancer2204
      @lancer2204 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@patrick11169 If you're real damn lucky an off the shelf bearing will solve the problem, otherwise, it is, as you have said, line boring time.
