Barry was badly burned at 18 months old when he pulled a teapot over on to himself. He has a lot of scars on his chest. He spent months in the hospital because of the burns and then almost died again from infection. He didn't talk until he was three. Never stopped him from showing that chest. Impressive.

Barry was heavily influenced by American R & B, most notably Motown, The Defonics, and Chi-Lites. Also they wrote To Love Somebody for Otis Redding but he died so they recorded it. The one person who influenced Barry to sing falsetto was Russell Tompkins of The Stylistics.

More songs to react to by The Bee Gees:
    How Deep Is Your Love
    You Should Be Dancing
Fanny be tender with my love
    Love So Right
    Jive Talking
    Nights on Broadway
    Tragedy
    More than a woman
    Love you inside out
    To love somebody
    Massachusetts
    Alone
    Lonely Days
How Can you mend a broken heart
Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung), alone or with his brothers (Robin &!Maurice Gibb):
If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman)
Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, Gibb wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs.
Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, Barry wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD
Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, Barry wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals.
Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, Barry wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals.
Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background.
    More Than a Woman (Tavares)
    Love Me (Yvonne Elliman)
Come on Over (Olivia Newton John)
Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it.
    Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli)
Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer)
Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb
A lot of Andy Gibb songs

They just didn't like being famous for that because fans of their late '70s Disco songs showed little to no interest in their earlier work, so they began to resent the Disco songs that made them megastars. Just because they made the songs before the SNF soundtrack, that doesn't mean anything because Disco was around for several years before that movie. • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@angelapietro4734 Maurice is on record saying that he and his brothers grew to resent their Disco songs because they attracted so many new fans who were only interested in hearing those songs, and none of their previous work from earlier in the '70s and '60s. This is not an uncommon phenomenon for artists. Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin grew to hate their iconic hit, "Stairway To Heaven", because it was all any reporter or fan ever wanted to talk about or hear them play. Sir Alec Guinness, is an even more perfect parallel to the brothers Gibb. Alec was an esteemed actor in Britain for decades before he played Obi Wan Kenobi in, STAR WARS, and he resented that the new fans of his only cared about him as Obi Wan. Hell, Harrison Ford had a similar disdain for his iconic character of, Han Solo, in STAR WARS, because even though he went on to perform in many other great roles throughout his career, he felt he was always viewed by the fans as, Han Solo, because that's what they always wanted to ask him about. It got to the point that he would only go on talk shows under the condition that the host not ask him anything about, STAR WARS.
So you can believe what you want, sweetheart, but Maurice has explicitly said they resented their Disco songs soon after releasing them, because those songs defined their group in the eyes of so many fans, and the brothers felt like they had so much great music that pre-dated their Disco period, that hardly any fans showed any interest in hearing.

Those of us who follwed this from the 60s were not surprised at versatile their happens to be. Having said that all my favorite BeeGee songs are led by Robin.

I never paid much attention to the Bee Gees until 1997 when they released Still Waters. Then I went back and listened to everything they did and have been a fan ever since. You guys should check out their music from the '60s, it was very different than everything that came later.

Corey, I love how big you were smiling throughout this song. This was my favorite group growing up. My friends ridiculed the falsettos, but, decades later with autotune helping today’s artists, that is pure art and talent we may never hear again.

Some of the best song writers on the planet. Some of the best singers as well!! I've read every book I can get my hands on about them. Just amazing talent. No auto tune. Wrote songs for Dionne Warwick, Michael Jackson, Barbara Streisand and many more. 70's yall. That was the hair and dress. Come on!!

Oops, misspelled. BARRY not Barr, Gibb was/is the oldest of the 4 brothers. His falsetto was incredible. I loved their music .🎶 He is the last living Gibb brother at 78. Still married to the same woman (Linda Gray an Australian) since 1970. And still working. All the brothers started singing and performing together as children. Way before they hit big.

Love those high notes Barry my ❤ hits.
I saw an interview with Barry and someone asked him to sing Stayin Alive.
He said ok BUT only a little bit of it because it hurts him.
Mo and Robin persauded him to continue to do it but it does hurt his ribs/lungs/throat.
He does it for his fans whom he loves and at his expense of being in pain. If you watch his face he often winces in pain hitting those notes. Thank you Barry. Love you dear one.❤❤❤
Barry is my favorite of all since 1975 when i first heard him. Love Barry Gibb always.

When Barry was nearly two years old, he had an accident that would change everything.
His mother had made some tea, which she had put on the table and a young Barry climbed up and pulled the teapot down, which poured all over him, scalding him severely.(explains the scars on his chest. Lights makes his chest shiny) The toddler was rushed to hospital. "I had about 20 minutes to live," Gibb told CBS News He didn't talk for 2 years until the twins Robin, Maurice were born.

They didn`t like the term disco (kings)!
They were writing songs for her new album, when their producer R. Stigwood asked them to write the soundtrack for his new movie saturday night fever. They told him that they wouldn`t have time for this, but he could have some of the songs they have written for the new album. They knew nothing about the movie. The Bee Gees' involvement in the film did not begin until post-production. As John Travolta asserted, "The Bee Gees weren't even involved in the movie in the beginning ... I was dancing to Stevie Wonder and Boz Scaggs. The brothers wrote the songs "virtually in a single weekend" at Château d'Hérouville studio in France. Saturday Night Fever was the best-selling album in music history, and still ranks among the best-selling soundtrack albums worldwide, with sales figures of over 40 million copies. The album stayed atop the charts for 24 straight weeks from January to July 1978 and stayed on Billboard's album charts for 120 weeks until March 1980. So they become the "disco kings"without knowing what disco was/meant or being interested in disco music. Barry once said he's never been to a disco!

The flip side of this single was actually a Country song called REST YOUR LOVE!!! The other #1s were Stayin Alive, Night Fever (already reacted to), HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE, Tragedy, and LOVE YOU INSIDE OUT. Please react to all of them!!
