Barry didn’t write all the songs. They wrote together and Barry has said in interviews that he might start a song and then Robin would come in and finish it with the lyrics of course Maurice always came up with the music for their songs. Each one played an important part in being a Bee Gee they would not have been successful if not for each one contributing
His reaction to Barry's falsetto was priceless. 1 take in studio. They are absolutely beautiful. There will never be another group like them. Rest in Heavenly Peace Maurice,Robin and Andy 😢✝️♥️
We don’t really know how much Robin and Maurice were involved in every song and album. Rumor is Barry was generous with the credits. Sometimes the others were not involved at all, sometimes very little, for instance, the Living Eyes album, which was largely all Barry. Some songs were completely Barry. Guaranteed, though, Barry was very much involved in all the songwriting, and sometimes wrote some of them himself, including all their earliest stuff. He’s a true songwriter. It’s his calling. He’s the real songwriter.
@@NeptuneLady1957 We don’t really know because we weren’t there, and Barry was reportedly very generous with the credits sometimes. Like you could contribute some words or a title and get credit.

YES!!!! I find new reactions to the Bee Gees everyday! You would LOVE Fanny Be Tender. The great Quincy Jones said "Fanny" was one of his favorite R&B songs of all time!
The BeeGees were the only group who managed to adapt and to the different genre to connect to audience worldwide... They'll never be any other group like them or even comes near to their level.....they will live forever in our hearts ..BTW,Robin was my favorite among them, he was a bundle of talents.
In the late 1970's when I was a teenager I lived in Colorado. On Saturday nights high school kids and their friends would get in their Camaros, Mustangs and whatever cars they had ( I had a 1970 Camaro), head to downtown Denver and cruise around a certain couple of blocks over and over again blasting music from their radios and if they saw friends from their high school, shouting and having a fun being out! No issues and no crimes - just a great time!
I grew up with Bee Gees. I absolutely love them. Their voices are incredible. Every song they are incredible. Only Barry is alive now I would loved to see them never did. Sad. Awesome music.😊
The constant stank face tells it all. The look of amazement. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, with the most beautiful falsetto voices I've ever heard, as well. Excellent reaction!!!
ALL THREE are in the Songwriting Hall of Fame. Barry and Robin were the main co-writers and Maurice also contributed to most songs and was the musician who put their melodies and lyrics to music. They were a team both vocally and as composers. In this song while Barry is doing the falsetto the twins are carrying the melody. All three can sing falsetto.
Another #1 Bee Gees hit, with song idea & lyrics by BG. It's 27 layers of vocals, 18 with Barry and 9 all three together. Nowhere on this song are we hearing just the twins' vocals. So it's easy to see (& hear!) why many thought Barry Gibb was the Bee Gees, because in many ways, he was! Or at least on their #1 Hits after '70!😁😁😁
Bless you for passing this on to your young friend. I’m seventy years old and have been an avid BeeGees fan since my high school days. I love to see the younger generation react to them.
The brothers not only wrote together, but always produced the melody first which they never deviated from or changed to fit the lyrics they had crafted.
They started when Barry -the oldest - falsetto-was about 10 years old . I saw them on television in 1967-68 . Live recording in studio , no computers just musicianship at the highest level
@@TheBrownlj actually I do I saw them on tv then in the early 60s had there albums and watched as they took over the airwaves in the 70s . What exactly is it I don’t know about my life experience that you do?
they were born on the isle of man which is a small british island off the coast of britain. they went to australia for 10yrs when they were young where they had some success.they then moved back to the british mainland eventually moving to the US. barry is the eldest and the only living one.robin on the left sang some leads and was 2nd lead on the other songs.maurice on the right is robin's fraternal twin.he was married to scottish singer lulu who is still singing. andy was 11yrs younger which is why he wasn't in the group.his bros did help write and do backing vocals on some of his songs.he looks like a clean shaven blonde barry gibb. rip robin, maurice and andy.
The Bee Gees wrote this song, the song, tragedy, and shadow dancing, which was sung by Andy Gibb, all in one day and all three were number one hits. Check into that it is amazing.
Every penny from this song went to charity!! They write the songs together! The Bee Gees wrote over 400 songs. IN ONE DAY they wrote, Tragedy, Too Much Heaven and Shadow Dancing!
Although yes they all did write songs, Barry was the one who wrote most of The Bee Gees music. Barry also wrote all the hit songs that their brother Andy had.
In an interview Barry said his brother Robin Was the natural falsetto, could go higher ..Well we all know the Gibb brother's had it all... Talent in everything.. Singing n definitely writing all their own songs n wrote for many artists..These guy were so great to grow up with...LOVE IT!!!
Robin had a 5 octave range with a higher voice and Barry a 4 octave range. Falsetto is not considered part of a person's "natural" range though. Robin did falsetto in "Living together".
I believe the "child" has more knowledge in music than u. U might be old but theres no need to look down on the younger generation...especially the good ones
Don’t let any Robin homers tell you different, the middle guy, Barry Gibb, was the main songwriter, and yes, he wrote for and produced records for other big artists, and wrote all his brother, Andy’s hits, plus produced his records and sang back-up vocals for him. Barry is a prolific songwriter, second only to Paul McCartney. And a known hitmaker, whom other singers clamored to have him write for them. All those songs became hits, too. I love Barry’s voice, too, his tone, and his distinct vibrato. Not just his falsetto, but his chest voice.
ROBIN wrote and sang MANY of their hits. Barry was the most prolific writer. P.S. I never like Paul McCarney. Maybe Blackbird. Over-rated in my opinion. John Lennon and George Harrison were better writers.
Their mum was a band singer, dad played in it. They also have an older sister Lesley who can fill in too. No formal music educarion, until already masters. As little kids in a room, they sounded like a radio to their mum. Barry's music instincts are spot on, he can sing 6 times in a row, note, inflection and timing exact. They learned falsetto existed doing Nights on Broadway in the Studio. Have you heard Jive Talking yet?
All three of them wrote the songs ❤ all three could sing falsetto, all three sang amazingly well on their own 😁 altogether they were extraordinary ❤️ You need to do For whom the bell tolls live outside in New York 🤩 Barry and Robin sing parts of the song 🤩 Robin had a beautiful vibrato he also sings lead in a number of songs 🤩 Maurice was a musical genius he done the arrangement on practically all their songs, he sang lead on Closer than Close and Man in the middle but preferred the song writing and arrangement. All three made the Bee Gees without one of them being there would never have worked, to do different parts of a song all three were able to change their voice for whatever they were singing! RIP Maurice, Robin and Andy Gone way too soon. They were sing in on stage at a young age Barry was 9 and the twins were 6, their sister Lesley is also a good singer but didn’t choose to do it. Practically all of their sons and daughters can also sing. The couldn’t read music they would get the melody first then get the words to fit the melody 👍🏻🤩🏴

We grew up with the best music. Grateful. Definitely bring that dancing back. Go outside hiking and then go dancing. Be social in person!
The boy is right, the way they organize the music to flow with their vocals is amazing, near the end when Barry goes up in pitch 4 times is the same as the beginning of the song with the trumpet
I'm 70yo. I grew up in South Dakota and we had an actual Main street, with a fast food drive in at each end. We would drive down the street, turn around in the parking lot of one drive in, and back to the other for hours.( Of course stopping to talk to friends)We called it " takin mains."

To see this Fanny be tender with my love and Nights on Broadway (1975 midnight special). Andy appears on stage with then during You should be dancing . ❤❤
The studio recording of Nights on Broadway shows their range much better. Also Fanny had so many layers that it was never sung live. The music video is poor and misleading, should only evervreact to the studio version of that too.
@@TheBrownlj I respectfully disagree. I think the live versions are worth listening to. Maurice does a wonderful falsetto with n Nights on Broadway where the recording while great is only Barry. I like seeing all 3 brothers have own parts
@@RuthBair-ht1fj yeah Mo does a good job but the falsetto ad libs dont go on for as long and is not anything like the recording. There is no live recording of Fanny at all. The one you are thinking of is simply a music video, shot the same time as Jive Talkin. The sound quality is poor and it doesn't show who sings what parts accurately. Fanny had so many layers that it was difficult for them to sing their parts so the 3 just all sang all of it whether it was their parts or not. There was a tendency to do this in the 70s with music videos so with this one in particular the audio should only be reacted to.
There's a certain mastery that comes with siblings who start out young. They've been singing since they were young kids, much like The Jackson 5 and The Osmond Brothers.
This is live and these guys were absolutely incredible. I can’t emphasize it enough. They had nine number one hits. !! I need to check out there early stuff words…. Gotta get a message to you…. I started a joke…. Run to me …. To love somebody…. I can go on forever.
The Bee Gees wrote most of their songs not just for them but for other performers as well. Andy choice a solo career so people wouldn't think he was trying to make it on his brothers coat tails. Their sister Lesley can sing too. I saw a film clip where Barry I think it was, was taking to long to get in the studio so the jokers in the family (Robin and Maurice) cued the music and Lesley started singing and everyone thought it was Robin taking the lead. You could see the surprise on people's faces but she never cut any songs.
They wrote all of their songs not most they did do Beatles covers early on and in the movie Sargent pepper's money hearts club band. But they wrote every song on all of their albums.
@@JamesThomas-dn6ee they had so much talent. They wrote for all types of genres of music like country Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's Island in the stream. And for movies such as Grease. I’m 66 and I was privileged to see The Bee Gee’s in 1977 in Denver Colorado. One of the best concerts I have ever seen!
I enjoy the young guy smiling. Gen Z i think. So sweet
His reaction to Barry's falsetto was priceless. 1 take in studio. They are absolutely beautiful. There will never be another group like them. Rest in Heavenly Peace Maurice,Robin and Andy 😢✝️♥️
It wasnt one take in the studio at all. There are 27 layers to this song.
I feel privileged to have grown up with this music .Pure genius .
Me too. ❤. 71 years old and still kicking. 😅
My time, oh Barry still get to me. 66 years and loving it. Oh baby!
Patty-They all write together. It's not just one. They may pair up, but they each have a role in the writing process.
@@BGWhispererwhen you say "we" what you really mean is YOU don't know! Do some research ma'am.
@@NeptuneLady1957 We don’t really know because we weren’t there, and Barry was reportedly very generous with the credits sometimes. Like you could contribute some words or a title and get credit.
@@BGWhispererIf you didn't see his reaction to How Deep is Your Love, it's worth watching. Even just to hear his comments about Barry & Andy, as he knows good looking guys when he sees one!
@@BGWhisperer True. However, I believe a little research will list the names of the brothers and what songs they wrote. Andy had writing contributions for his songs on his projects.
Barry’s falsetto is wonderful !!!! Timeless!!!!’
66yr old here. These guys were what I listened to throughout the 70s
62 yr old here and loved and still do The Bee Gees. Its sad that Only Berry is left.
I’m a little older (76). The early BeeGees were my favorite; before Saturday Night fever. Voices were beautiful in all their music.
Totally agree. Fanny Be Tender is my favorite of theirs, but Words, Get a Message, and Lonely Days are among their best.
YES!!!! I find new reactions to the Bee Gees everyday! You would LOVE Fanny Be Tender. The great Quincy Jones said "Fanny" was one of his favorite R&B songs of all time!
My fav Bee Gee’s song.
The BeeGees were the only group who managed to adapt and to the different genre to connect to audience worldwide... They'll never be any other group like them or even comes near to their level.....they will live forever in our hearts ..BTW,Robin was my favorite among them, he was a bundle of talents.
"The BeeGees were the only group who managed to adapt and to the different genre to connect to audience worldwide... " Patently not true.
Those were the best of times. I wish I could go back to that time. 😢
Broadway Gary Indiana , cruise night nothing better in the 70s n 80s 😜
Their father was a guy called Hugh Gibb who was a big band leader so they were immersed in music from birth.
I grew up with Bee Gees. I absolutely love them. Their voices are incredible. Every song they are incredible. Only Barry is alive now I would loved to see them never did. Sad. Awesome music.😊
Have listened to The Bee Gees since the 60’s and still get chills.
Or at least on their #1 Hits after '70!😁😁😁
I love the Bee Gees- and this is my favrite. They are fantastic!
I read somewhere all three walked in, sang this in one take and left.. they were incredible. I was so so lucky to see them live in 1975!
Whoever wrote that article was wrong in somany ways.
❤ The Bee Gees have a lot of songs and have written so many for others I cannot list them all.
This is live boys. Back in those days. People actually had voices talents. You know real music
This isn't live. It's lip-sync.
How can 20 people like a comment that is completely false?!😂
No auto tune just pure talent ❤You should be dancing with brother Andy is a must my friend. Peace out ✌️ ☮️
Bless you for passing this on to your young friend. I’m seventy years old and have been an avid BeeGees fan since my high school days. I love to see the younger generation react to them.
The Bee Gees are Angelic, pure love ❤️❤️❤️
The brothers not only wrote together, but always produced the melody first which they never deviated from or changed to fit the lyrics they had crafted.
I always thought their process was amazing and the fact that none of them ever learned to read music.
They started when Barry -the oldest - falsetto-was about 10 years old . I saw them on television in 1967-68 . Live recording in studio , no computers just musicianship at the highest level
This is not a live recording in the studio. It is just a music video.
That was Australian Bandstand the bee gees we're on
You actually have no idea what you are talking about
@@Kurt-d6j they were also on the Go Show
@@TheBrownlj actually I do I saw them on tv then in the early 60s had there albums and watched as they took over the airwaves in the 70s . What exactly is it I don’t know about my life experience that you do?
they were born on the isle of man which is a small british island off the coast of britain.
they went to australia for 10yrs when they were young where they had some success.they then moved back to the british mainland eventually moving to the US.
barry is the eldest and the only living one.robin on the left sang some leads and was 2nd lead on the other songs.maurice on the right is robin's fraternal twin.he was married to scottish singer lulu who is still singing.
andy was 11yrs younger which is why he wasn't in the group.his bros did help write and do backing vocals on some of his songs.he looks like a clean shaven blonde barry gibb.
rip robin,maurice and andy.
The Bee Gees wrote this song, the song, tragedy, and shadow dancing, which was sung by Andy Gibb, all in one day and all three were number one hits. Check into that it is amazing.
It’s so sad that Barry is the only one left now. Rest in Peace Brothers Gibb
@@Sherry-hk2vs Robin wrote some beautiful HITS.
They wrote just over a thousand songs in total over their 50 years in the business.

I learned to not keep any butter on the counter while this Bee Gees song played… Their vocals would melt it every time.
Barry had a much stronger and better falsetto that he could maintain for a long time.
I'm only saying what Barry said on one of his talk shows .
@@gailcalderone5229 the all could sing falsetto, which is what they all are doing in this song

I appreciate these guy more now that I am older. Than I did when they were on the radio.
Gen X here.
Growing up we'd go to Headbangers ball but when we were chilling out it was definitely this stuff.
This song is so beautiful. Not just their voices but the words.

All three brothers write . Wrote all their own songs and songs for Diana Ross Chain reaction album, Dionne Warwick Heartbreaker, Barbara Striesand Guilty album, Dolly Parton &Kenny Rogers Islands in the Stream. They have an older sister who can sing. Mom was a vocalist and Dad had 30 piece band and was a drummer. They have massive vocal range.

This is not live. It's a lip-sync to the 'Spirits Having Flown' LP
My favorite video is where Olivia Newton John was in the audience with her daughter, they were singing the theme song and showing clips of the movie behind them. Even when they broke up for a little bit they still wrote together. Great talent

After listening to your comments, it sounds like you guys would appreciate hearing the Everly Brothers. They were pioneers in the creation of Rock, first people inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, named the greatest duo in the history of Rock, and a major influence on so many others greats like the Beatles, Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel & The BeeGees and so many others. Widely considered to be the best harmony singers ever. The Everlys were 2 real brothers from KY who had a bunch of big hits in the late 50's & early 60's. Phil sang harmony & Don sang melody. John & Paul of the Beatles nicknamed each other Phil & Don.

The Brothers Gibb....a force in pop music for many decades. It truly stands the test of time. Great reaction all around but i like how you caught the way they weave the melody through their frequency and vibrato. Because they are brothers their vocals are tight.

its lip synced as all music videos are. There are 9 layers in this song creating 27 voices. We are hearing the already recorded audio. It seriously amazes me that people think any part of this is live, this is not how music is recorded. It is simply a promotional video and all is staged.
Here is something I copied from the internet regarding the recording:
The recording process was the longest of all the tracks on Spirits Having Flown as there are nine layers of three-part harmony, creating 27 voices, though the high falsetto voices are the most pronounced in the final mix:[6]
Barry on falsetto lead three times
falsetto high harmony three times
falsetto low harmony three times
Barry on natural voice lead three times
high harmony three times
low harmony three times
Barry, Robin and Maurice together on lead three times
high harmony three times
low harmony three times[6]
Imbued with their falsetto style, it is also notable for being one of two songs on the album featuring the Chicago horn section
