I knew since grade school that NC was the first gold rush state but it never occurred to me to look for it until watching the Gold Rush series on Discovery. I am very fortunate to live in a good spot for finding gold!

Jon is a hoot and a half. He keeps me laughing and digging all day. I have reconfigured the new crusher so that I will hopefully have a successful test and can destroy that rock Jon gave me. Locks versus rocks 🤣

Yes, that's not a typical day out. I f Jon had not come across those three chunkers, he would have had a .11 day. We are swinging for the fences when we go there but sometimes, we connect, and Jon did it three times in one day!
I see there’s no fine gold. Are nuggets or nothing areas common? I also noticed the creek your working isn’t big at all. Do streams seem to be better than rivers? I found only one good spot on the river but moccasin creek seems more consistent is it bc it’s smaller and can concentrate more easily? Anywho thanks Lee
Yes, the small flakes I was finding is the more usual occurrence there but there is comparatively little flood gold which I assume is because we are close to the source. Jon did really have an awesome day there and has only had one day better there what he had yesterday. What I was finding was actually pretty good for there. I dug in the middle of the creek just next to where I was finding gold and there was nothing. It's so weird how gold collects when it is near the source. I think creeks are so much easier to work in than rivers because the gold is concentrated in tighter bands and you can go wherever you want in creeks without drowning to find those streaks🤣
I love it. It's really good for catching the smallest of micros because I can see gold better on blue. Green is better for cleaning because I can see the black sand better on it. I'm not sure what color blind prospectors use 🤔
