@@BillyTyo What he said. I've watched a lot of Black Bear Pass videos, and that's the fastest I've ever seen anyone attack "the steps". Most stop, check things out, take pics, etc., but you guys just bombed the way down!!! :-) Well done.
@@waltermitty7452 thanks, we just went for it. It was a bit sketchy but thankfully we made it down safely. I stalled my bike about half way down and had the extra fun of trying to get it restarted during the descent 😂
@@BillyTyo Three buddies and I were out in Colorado in late August, lived about 8 days off the bike...all hotels. We rode lots of passes, but there are still lots more to do....so we have a reason to go back. Great video AWESOME RIIDING THE SCENERY OUTSTANDING You guys are awsome with just enough CRAZY This ole guy really enjoy your videos Thanks for sharing STAY SAFE
Very cool video!! Colorado mountain passes wow!! its seem to me like a country with tough riding areas=Extremely significant rock slopes . keep Enjoy the trail's.
Great Stuff. Glad you enjoyed your day of exploring. Makes complete sense. Colorado is clearly not a state that you just want to breeze through on a bike once your finally there. That would seem like a shame afterward for sure. Have a great one guys. FB adventures? Ouch. Is that what you really think of Colorado. Lol.
Found your TH-cam channel, I'm the guy you helped on the lean running 250L yesterday! Thanks again for thinking about the electric primer/saving me from draining my battery. Perfect timing to run into two guys that actually know what they're doing. Sorry to hear about the GPS. If you're still in Colorado the state funded app, COTREX, is a pretty good free Map/GPS. It has downloadable map sections and uses your phones GPS to overlay your position. lol, you guys hauled ass through the stairs on BBP!
@@jacobtyo7805 No more problems; just seems to be idling low. From what've read on 'ThumperTalk: The screw is the minimum air flow screw. A baseline of sorts. The valve is what controls the extra airflow need to reach the correct idle speed. It is set below idle speed to reduce emissions and conserve fuel on decel. As the engine rpm gets close to the idle rpm the adds air as needed. The reason the adjuster has white paint on it is because adjusting it is an federal emissions violation and may cause grief at the dealer too. (It looks and flows the same as some partially dried up Testor model paint). 😉 It is set by the factory to allow a specfic amount air flow. Adjusting the screw slightly should help solve the stalling problem, but the sensor should be adjusted and reset.'
Going to the dealer in a week anyways, will ask them. After that, the warranty expires soon/will then mess with screw if needed ;) Have an awesome time in MOAB! It's another world... find some dino prints!
@@MrMrMckinley gotcha, we have had the issue with ours where it will stall at like 35 mph (when in 6th gear lugging hard) but that’s easy to avoid. Good luck!
Just stumbled onto your Vids (and sub'd) this morning. Nothing better than Father/Son Adventures! I've done all those CO Passes about 12 times on my 2002 XR650R! Delores, Ouray, Telluride, Lake City, and Crested Butte areas... it just does not get any better! Ride On Boys!!!
Awesome riding and video. Glad you did black bear. No way was I taking my big bike on it. Did it years ago in a jeep and that was enough. Although I might be persuaded to do it on a big wheel.
I rode those passes last Fall on my 450L but it was not loaded with gear like yours are. Well done and agree awesome views. I posted that same section of Black Bear Pass that you guys focused on. Very sketchy! Have fun, enjoying your videos!
"Just some mountain passes today" LOL. Guys, do us a favor and slow down a tad on those sections with "do or die drops" (Black Bear and Imogene). One thing goes wrong you're DEAD, period. Awesome, awesome footage! I'm living vicariously through your TAT trip right now in January lol, thanks for posting.
Well done guys, this has been a great series; thanks for taking the time and effort to share it with us! Ive got an L too and am looking forward to making this trip in a few years
yep, that's called black bear road, (by C.W. McCall) who really made it famous or Black Bear Pass. I recognized the hydro electric plant on the mountain top in that house. 😁
Best video that I have seen on the passes up there. Recently got back from up there. You all clearly have a great relationship. And I ride the same bike. I wont ever do Black Bear because it is out of my league, but you gave the best look at it that I can remember on TH-cam. Great riding guys.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it, we are currently working on some videos that will go into more detail on some of the more interesting days. Black Bear was one of the most difficult and sketchy sections for sure, but I think Imogene was the most fun. How do you like your L?
@@BillyTyo the 300L is probably the most fun that I have ever had on a motorcycle. The weight, gearing and clearance make it so you can just enjoy the ride and not sweat what the bike will or will not do. I am nowhere near yall's league as a rider so having a blke that makes this easy is very enjoyable.
Great series guys. Today's was the best yet. Just curious, why was the front-end loader blocking the road? You were very innovative squeezing through there. My bike would have been SOL.
Awesome video! I plan on riding for about five days in Colorado next summer. I have two options. Option 1. Set up base camp in Ouray and do day trips through a lot of the passes (Blackbear, Imogene, engineer, Alpine Loop, ect) Option 2 ride the Colorado section of the TransAmerican Trail. Which option would y’all recommend? Do you get to see a lot of the best views on the TransAmerican trail or would you recommend day trips out of Ouray?
1980 my buddy and i rode XR500s over the back side of Ajax mountain,Aspen Co to The Wooden Nickel in Ouray. Had to change the jets in our carb for altitude. Being from NJ were our riding was mostly The Pine Barrens of South Jersey the The Rockies kicked our ass.
Best one yet. Thanks for all the footage and commentary. With that Ram mount, if you don't want to lose your phone you have to use that rubber teather. Just curious, did you have that rubber strap on it? Keep the videos coming, really enjoying them.
I just came across this video so you may have said in another video but wondered what tire pressure you are carrying and if you have any special setup in the tire to prevent rim impact flats or rely on tire pressure to keep the tube from getting punctured. Since I had a full size extended cab pickup with no lift on it I only went to the summit of black bear and back out and then up to power house from the other side, however I did do Imogene and that was interesting with my size of vehicle in some sketchy spots you would never see as such on a bike.
@@BillyTyo Thank you for the reply, yes 20 lb is a lot when it comes to traction and handling or lack of on rocks and yet I realize you are roading them as well. An Englishman I knew who was into trials riding when he was younger, about 5 pounds is what he commented was running back then but it was on a light trials bike too, that would guarantee you a flat and a bent rim on your bike !
why did you piece to video of the same area with the hydro electric house on the mountain? what happened? You back on black bear road again at 12 minutes.
