    That's really cool. I've never heard of Rub and Buff. I'll have to give it a try... I also love these videos... I have SO much fun with my shapeoko every weekend. The only frustrating weekend is one, where I can't think of what to do next. I feel like I'm wasting time, that I could be making something cool. These videos always give me ideas... I need to start a business so I can make money doing this!

    Thank you very much for this video. Going to be asking for your engraving bits and drag knife for Christmas. Both look like a lot of fun and these kinds of project ideas are very helpful for thinking of things to do with these tools.

    awesome! will have to give this a try! had previously tried using spray paint on some engraved ceramic tiles and it didn't quite work out. rub 'n buff tho.. interesting!

    There are lots of paint and fire your own ceramics shops around for kids and hobbyists. I was thinking about buying some unfired tiles, CNCing my design and then taking them in for painting, glazing, and firing. Might make for a decent side gig for some; custom kitchen and bath tiles ???

    Cool. Do you have a video using the MC Etcher on a (somewhat) clear glass tile?

    Just got my shapeoko 4 set up, really love it and the drag bit. Wil replacement bits be available?

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  ปีที่แล้ว

      The tips are roughly 90% of the cost, so we don't think it'll be worth it to offer them separately.

    Could you guestimate how many tiles an Mc Etcher can do?

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As is said in the video, size and complexity will determine the overall life. We did a number of complex designs and some simpler ones. For this size tile, with some density to your designs, 10 is probably the limit for sharp sharp lines. That same engraver can then do a bunch of the reverse process tiles.

    Amazing!!! Could you please add the Tool Info so that I can add it to my Tool Library ? 😁

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Look under “Carbide 3D - Any Any” at the top of the Tool Selection Menu. Click “End Mills” and you’ll find them both there. You can copy or modify as you please.

    What is the etch depth since you just want to clear the rub/buff?

    • @carbide3d
      @carbide3d  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Wade. Dropped this over of FB as well:
      I use the standard DOC per the Engravers under “Any Any” on the top of the tool library.

      @@carbide3d Yes Sir I saw that. I guess I'll need to upgrade from basic to get engrave feature. Thanks.

    Dunk the tile under water while cutting. Make the tool last a LOT longer.
