Honestly one of, if not the best Chanel for those who study any form of medicine. You guys are very precise and explain each and every topic thoroughly, thank you Dr Mike and Dr Matt for these amazing mini lectures. Forever grateful to you boys!!!!
im searching for folate pathway and find this and cant stop watching to the end. the entire metabolism chapter on First Aid killed me with glycolysis and this otheri weird connecitons with vitamines and fat and amino acids..u brought them all together. this is gold folks! thanks Dr mike .best medical tuutor on the net.
As a medical student, you're my go to channel to learn and solidify my knowledge. The concepts become so much clearer that it truly allows me to not only remember things but also to understand what I am learning!
OMG!! I always wondered as a kid why we didn't had vitamin B4, B8, B10, B11 and now I know why!! Thank you so much Dr. Mike and Dr. Matt for your amazing videos. You guys are really amazing!!
Thanks Dr Mike, this has really helped me understand the importance of Thiamine within the Krebs cycle. I couldn't find the information I needed, until I found this video. This inturn has helped me understand why a patient I have been helping with Wernicke-Korsakoff is given B1. I am Student Physiotherapist on ABI placement. I literally cant count how many times you've helped me out with your content 🙏👍
All I know is vit B complex along with vit D omiga 3 can ward off Alzheimer’s enough for me right now This guy is a 21st century genius We are living in a wonderful age
Amazing! You don't know how much I (71) needed this specifically because of the GABA component and my son because of the B 12 info, but also to understand the co-dependency of All the AB's. Thank you so much!
Excellent presentation, but note that B vitamins require multiple cofactors to be effective and function in their bioactive forms. Most important of these are amino acids and minerals. So I would love if you cover vit B assisted metabiolic pathways with enough context on the role of amino acids and minerals as supporting cofactors (functional enzymes, catalysts, activation factors). Also I would like you to cover interdependence of B vitamins on each other and importance of taking them together and not in isolation.
thank you so much dr. mike. I was lost in the sauce for my undergrad nutrition course, but you have helped me understand what is happening with the B vitamins!! you are a fantastic teacher sir
I was doing AKG research which led me here. Now I have a much better understanding of the Krebs cycle and the importance and functions of the B group of vitamins. You've gained a new fan and subscriber. Excellent resource.
This is a great presentation. I remember when I was learning biochemistry I mapped out the pathways involved in the Krebs Cycle and those leading out from it but this is the first time I’ve seen where the vitamins play a role. Thank you so very much.
Thank you for an excellent explanation about the B-vitamines in our bodies and what they do and what they are used for. This helps me alot of understanding the problems I have with my body and most of the symptoms I have because of it. I am a gastric bypass patient since year 2005 with a lot of physical complications in my intestines caused by the gastric bypass surgery. I had ileus two years after the gastric bypass and surgeons had to do many surgeries (8) in my intestines and removing some of my intestine because of the ileus causing damages on the intestine. This has led to low Iron, low B12 and so on for me, resulting in alot of different symptoms like hypoglycemia, very low energy, polyneuropathy, big problems with memory, focus, irritation and fainting and so on. I have been sick, home from work, since march of 2021 because of this. The doctor's here in Sweden seems not to understand what the problems are. I have understood before your video that lack of Intrinsic Factor (IF) has much to do with this. The doctor's seems to just relays on blood samples (that shows a huge amount of B12 in my blood, because of that they have given me cyanocobalamin to eat. But since the lack of no stomack/loss of intestin I can't make use of it since IF isn't present. I started treating myself with B1 and B12-injections.
Could you do exactly this for all the supplemental vitamins? I'm organizing what I take and this helped me so much in understanding why I take it. Now I'm more motivated to be consistent like my Dr wants. Could you do Vitamin C next?
Thank you so much for this very EDUCATIONAL video. Me and my wife are getting older and trying to be more healthy and your videos are very helpful as all of this is so confusing.
great lecture. I am currently studying and learning about all essential vitamins and minerals and what they actually do in our body to be able to understand health complications when lacking them as well as taking advantage of them in right doses.
impressive. Your knowledge about how this all works and your passion to talk about it is fantastic. It really emphasizes how much of a machine the body is and how many various processes it doing at the same time. its incredible
Just one correction for the audience which is I will admit a nitpick, and late. Dr. Mike paused while describing it at 15:57 no doubt on this thought himself. Energy is not being created at the mitochondrial membrane. Energy cannot be created as per the law of conservation of energy. A better word for it would be converted. The body is using the described process to convert the incoming to the outgoing in the form of ATP.
05/09/2024 Hello Dr, I enjoy this post. It is a lot above my "learnin'" . I will watch a couple more times just to try to upgrade my understanding of Vitamin B. Thanks Don
Fantastic video - with all the research I've done I can't understand how I haven’t come across your videos before. Now subscribed and looking forward to watching and learning from many more of your videos. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
O yes! Mario got tall and sexy. He grew muscles and his voice is amazing. I want him as my teacher at collage instead of the boring mono tone figures...
Sorry if this is offensive but I almost didn’t click on this video because of the thumbnail (and mustache i gotta admit 😅) i didn’t expect to learn so much but thank you for this video everything is heree ❤️
I just purchased B-complex vitamins and wanted to do some further research on why I am putting this in my body and this video did not disappoint! How does this entire b-complex chain aid in mood stabilization?
phenomenal. I was really looking for more detailed on homocysteine and the remethylation pathway but this served as amazing revision! WIll watch and rewatch I'm sure!
Hi l am a young nurse and your videos are great for me, thank you. I have a request, would you pleas make English subtitle for all videos, because nonenglish student can not understand all parts of the video. Best regard
All I know is that if I don't take b-complex, I can't think straight. I can't call names of people, places, and things. It is very important for me. Thank you.
(Sorry)Hormone & system regulator w/ very special duties. W/ many properties for immunity support & very helpful in protecting us from virus ect . Great tool to understand in this time of pandemic. Thank you
I had labs done for burning feet/neuropathy/fatigue/muscle stiffness last year! I was low in B1, ( have no idea why as i eat well) i started taking b complex and a higher dose of b1 and those symptoms resolved in time! But by this biochemical pathway both b1 and b5 are required at the sam points in pathway and look absolutely critical as its required in multiple points! Looks like i should take a higher dose b5 along with b1 for some time and see if it helps gall bladder discomfort and remaining muscle pull. Since b5 helps with fatty acid breakdown its worth a try.
THIS IS BY FAR, THE BEST TUTORIAL I
ON BIOCHEMISTRY
MOSTLY, AN EXPERTLY PRESENTED PODCAST
MANY THANKS

OMG!! I always wondered as a kid why we didn't had vitamin B4, B8, B10, B11 and now I know why!! Thank you so much Dr. Mike and Dr. Matt for your amazing videos. You guys are really amazing!!
B4 was traditionally Choline and B8 is Inositol.

Loads of thanks Dr. Mike for making this lesson so easy to grasp. You are a savior. Will definitely be watching your other videos too.
I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am for this ! What a great study resource! Thank you !
All I know is vit B complex along with vit D omiga 3 can ward off Alzheimer’s enough for me right now This guy is a 21st century genius We are living in a wonderful age
Awesome! One extra major use of B12 is in fatty acid breakdown. It helps turn methylmalonyl CoA to succinyl CoA
Amazing! You don't know how much I (71) needed this specifically because of the GABA component and my son because of the B 12 info, but also to understand the co-dependency of All the AB's. Thank you so much!
🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Had to watch it twice just to let it sink in. Gonna watch it again! Brilliant explanation!
At last a lecture on vitamins which made sense! Thank you!
A well comprehensive interlinked and coherent explanation; I’ve learnt a lot.
Thank you for all the effort producing this resourceful presentation .🙏

Thank you for helping me learn my least favourite topic for my medicinal chemistry exam next week 😀
This is a great presentation. I remember when I was learning biochemistry I mapped out the pathways involved in the Krebs Cycle and those leading out from it but this is the first time I’ve seen where the vitamins play a role. Thank you so very much.
Too good ! Great information in the simplest manner possible. Gratitude for your hard work.

How did you check on your b1 levels ?
@@hameed2419 there is a blood test for b1 levels ordered by doctor or you can purchase test on your own at certain labs
@@hameed2419Everyone that doesn't supplement it is low. There is no upper limit established.
