Thank you for posting this information. I was setting up my new FT-710 and could not figure out why the Transmitter would not work in CW mode. But once I switched BK-IN ON, it worked!! THANK YOU!! K6AKO
Very grateful for this great review. Thank you! A quick newbie question if I may. Why would one want an external keyer when there’s a keyer onboard the rig? Thanks again. Rick KJ7JKR
Tom - another FB video! In the transmit mode when sending cw, am I hearing the T/R relay click? Is there any way to silence it on this rig? 73, Rod w7zrc
You can take it out of full-break-in and adjust the hold time so you’ll only hear the clicks between letters or words. I’m surprised that with all the other advancements, the industry hasn’t switched over to solid state relays instead of mechanical…. They take up a lot less space and have more cycles before they have to be replaced. I don’t want to concern you…. I have never had a relay fail and have only heard of it happening once in the last several decades…
Thanks for posting this video. I have a FT-710 field and just got a CWMorse double paddle and a cable from the same company. After connecting it to the Keyer port in the back of the rig, the option KEYER is greyed out and OFF - I followed your step (changed type to OFF) but I can't make KEYER=ON. Any suggestions? 73, KW1SKY

wow, thanks. i think this rig is for me..

For the CW decoder. Are you connecting the 710 through the computer for that? Note: Your content is something I was looking for.
Yes, using the USB CODEC

I just sent my 710 to Yaesu for some repairs, but I’ll try to duplicate what you’re seeing on my DX10 tomorrow and will let you know.
@@ND3N What happened to it? Is this an anomaly?
@@N1IA-4 I’ve got it back…. They said no fault found, so I’m writing it off as operator headspace. It does work now, though.
@@PapaiUrsolino bk-in on?
