Finally someone likes consort radahn just as much as me, pre nerf he was just a great fight to me, i never felt it was unfaie and the light was never an issue I loved this boss
08:40 the reason people don't talk about Morgott's longer hitbox is because he's dead before anyone can notice as it is extremely easy to be overleveled for him, most players will be strong enough to bulldoze him if they've gone after Rykard or Radahn. As for Malenia the reason people don't bring up the hitbox there is because of all the other stuff in that fight, namely how she resets stance damage entirely whenever she does an attack with hyperarmour and the obvious healing and waterfowl combo.
I’d say 1. Gael 2. Friede 3. Orphan (2 and 3 are interchangeable) Radahn feels too unoriginal and lacks as good of lore as the other fights to be in the top 3
Ngl I really disliked Radahn before the nerf. Not because he was too hard but due to not feeling like a fair fight. For me after the update the fight definitely lacks the spectacle and something that makes it special (especially having fought Bayle and Messmer just before him) but gameplay wise he’s actually really fun now. I’d put him in high A or low S tier right now (moving up from C tier). Although I’d which they kept his follow up attack after the blood slash. Right now that move is even more useless and lame than before. It obscures the view but then doesn’t to anything with it.
Wow. For me he also changed a lot as well to an A+. Personally im glad that they put a window on the bloodflame, sometimes I couldn´t see shit only to be received with the Cross Slash 💀
Wait, they removed the follow-up to his singular bloodflame attack. Man was the whole Mogh corpse thing a cop out to have Radahn back, they could have at least put a bit more than one attack and swapping some fur for horns.
Imo orphan is second tbh. Gael is undoubtedly first place and I don’t think that will change for a long time, if ever, but I truly do think orphan is a better boss than radahn. One big reason is cuz I feel like the buildup and lore relevance for orphan’s place in the dlc feels a lot more unique and well thought out compared to radahn. The way his cry parallels to gehrman’s, the way the entire level and dlc builds up to that one moment at the end where you finally realize the cause of the massacre, and then the intro cutscene which is an incredible atmosphere-setter. The whole fight essentially feels a lot more original in concept. The next is that I do think orphan is a better fight mechanically imo. Radahn definitely got a lot better as time went on but I love the ability of expression in orphan’s fight; there are many ways to approach his fight and that makes it feel a lot better to me. For example, in his double sweep for phase 1, you can dash to the right and walk a few steps and charge r2 for a visceral, or you can wait to parry it for a visceral, or you can simply just r1 him as he does the move. Phase 2 has this to an even greater effect with how you can predict where he’s going to leap and then position for a backstab the moment he lands to get a visceral. The ceiling for experimentation feels a lot higher compared to radahn, who’s a boss that only really has a handful of ways to deal with his attacks due to how fast and relentless he is compared to the player mechanics. Orphan does not suffer this same issue. I also think the atmosphere of orphan’s fight is better but I think that’s a given considering is from bloodborne.
Imo 1| Slave Knight Gael 2| Sister Friede 3| Manus, Father of the Abyss 4| Orphan of Kos 5| Fume Knight 6| Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon 7| Promised Consort Radahn 8| Burnt Ivory King
1/2. Gael and Radahn (If i had to choose id put gael in 1 but radahn has grown on me alot) 3. Friede (i usually fight her second and third phase with gael) 4. Ivory King 5. Orphan 6. Fume Knight 7. Manus 8. Sinh
I’d say orphan tied with friede. Orphan is basically a flawless fight mechanically speaking and is one of the few bloodborne fights that live up to the mechanical complexity of a game like Elden ring. In a recent replay I was genuinely shocked by how many mixups orphan has, like he could easily be an endgame elden ring fight. His presentation and atmosphere is also stellar.
Hm i quite like the list, couldn’t personally make my own without thinking of the levels being involved as I like freida…but i dislike the actual dlc she is in. But I dislike sinh but love the dlc Overall 1. Gael (every time I fight it’s a good time 2. Frieda 3. sinh (cool dlc and is pretty cool) 4. Fume knight (only ds2 knight fight to be fun) 5. Promised consort (just not fun, felt glad it was over instead of that I managed to win) 6. Ivory king (awesome character but man getting those knights each time is an extra 1hr I don’t wanna do)
Just finished the DS3 DLC a few days ago, and yeah, Gael was my favorite boss in the game. Didn't take me as many attempts as Friede or Midir (or even Nameless King), but it felt good, and I liked how short the windows were in the last two phases; it really felt like I had less room for error, but it felt really fair at the same time. I disliked Manus. I gave up on him and cheesed him with the black bow+hawk ring+rtsr on three playthroughs, including one with a sorcerer build. His moveset and hitboxes were just so obnoxious I didn't even care to learn to fight him legit.
Idk if I hit bad Ai with sinh but he was constantly in the air when I fought him like it was ridiculous hated that fight so much and I did beat him 2nd try so like I said maybe it was just horrible Ai but tbh I will not be replaying Dark Souls 2 for a long time 😭
Regarding hitboxes, Melania is optional and Radahn isn't, which is why more people probably complain about Radahn. I didn't mind the fight on a technical or difficulty standpoint, I was just really disappointed by the lore of it.
is fume knight the final boss? I thought you couldn't access the memory to get to sir Alonne until after you get the crown by beating Raime. Also no shot Manus is the second worst that's my favorite fight in the whole series
Slave knight Gael should be a standard for a perfect final boss fight. This fight is a perfect example of a bossfight being challenging and visually aesthetic and enjoyable at the same time. Promised consort radahn was far from being the perfect Souls DLC final boss. It was just frustrating. I don't know how much they nerfed him.
Gael is overrated. He's good. He's not the best. The fight is too easy. Even his moveset is pretty basic, I don't get why everyone jerks him off so much. I literally second tried him, and I'm speaking as someone who took 2 5 hour sessions to beat CLERIC BEAST
Imo orphan is second tbh. Gael is undoubtedly first place and I don’t think that will change for a long time, if ever, but I truly do think orphan is a better boss than radahn. Edit: also fume knight is a goated fight and I’d honestly tie him with radahn. Idk if people know this but he’s the only fight in any souls game where you can willingly manipulate the phases you want him to be in (you can make him stay in phase 1 for the entire fight or phase 2 for the entire fight or a mix of both, it’s a really cool detail), and I love the flow of his fight
Gonna have to re-do this list bro, especially after the new Elden Ring patch. 😂

I loved it pre-nerf too, but even I can admit the fight had issues, which have thankfully been fixed.

even though we all know who number 1 is, i have to give credit to the DLCs for having every single final boss be at least good
Yea I tried to focus on the positives of every boss instead of the negatives
1. Gael

Manus def underrated in video.
