Question...i subscribe to a channel from the UK and they say its the flying fox that eats blackbeard algae, not the SAE...i needed something for the blackbeard algae but shockingly either my gilden blue eye longfin bristlenose pleco or my otocinclus or both is starting to eat it, so im going to hold off for now. I dont need another fish because its heavily stocked. Its a 55g tank with denison barbs, 3 angelfish, praecox rainbows, hillstream loach, 3 kinds of corys, pictus cat, dwarf guarami, golden zebra loach, 18 neon tetras and 4 platys. They really do have plenty of room and theres no fighting or stress because theres lots of cover and caves. I also run 2 seachem tidal 110s heavily stocked with bio media and the water is always fine. I also have a 15g with a few guppies and Celestichthys Choprae, and 2 platys. Do you think i could add a male betta to this tank?
Wow! Sounds like an amazing setup mate! I can't believe either of those fish started eating BBA! Never heard of that before! Flying foxes will graze when starved, but SAE's absolutely love it. They only eat it though when growing up, and once they get big apparently they rely on algae wafers and meaty foods. I reckon hold off with the Betta because they're known to hate guppies, especially if they're colourful. A female betta would work though! And from hearing other people's experiences, females are more interactive than males. Thanks for watching mate! Keep me updated on the BBA situation and I'd love to know what you end up getting for the 15 gallon. Have a good one! 👍
@Lazarus the fish boy thanks so much...after I sent my last message. I was watching my tank for like an hour yesterday. I saw 2 of my angelfish and 1 platy pecking away at it. So now I'm totally confused as to who is eating it. I'm not complaining though. I really don't need another fish. Particularly the size of a SAE. take care, and I'm going to possibly rescue a betta from petsmart today
@@FishRfun Yeah, prolly a mix of everyone to be honest. As long as it's getting eaten. that's what matters. You might even find the denisons eating it at some point. Fish can just get bored sometimes too and feel the need to peck or rip apart something, so BBA is perfect for that! Just be careful with the betta if you're keeping him with guppies. Keep an eye on them and remove one or the other if they start getting really aggressive.
An Ottocinclus Catfish would work, but you'll still need to scrub it every now and then. Also shortening the time of your light being on in the tank will decrease the amount of algae. So give these ago, and it should lessen the work! 😉
That would be internal parasites - little worms that live inside the fish and eat all the food the fish gets, making it die of hunger. Internal parasites also feed on the fishes insides. There are products you'll be able to purchase from the local fish store or online, you'll wanna get fluke and tapeworm tablets, and use the directions from the bottle. That should do the work! Hope this helped and I hope you had a very merry Christmas! Thank you for watching Qif Ry! 😄
Great overview even though I would not add any of these to my tank with existing fish. I had a siamese algae eater and it grew large - once they are large, algae is not enough for them so they chase (and catch) other fish in the tank and start sucking off slime off of their bodies, eventually hurting or even killing other fish. They are great borrower fish for algae though - if you have algae, including black beard algae, you can temporary let a handful of them in the tank and they will clean it well. :) I prefer otocincluses the most as a tank-mate algae eaters though.
Really great video mate! Clear, simple and straight to the point. Love it!
Thanks Valluvan! Glad to hear and thanks for watching!
Awesome video laz, I love the sieamease algae eaters, they do an amazing job in cleaning all the algae. Keep up the amazing work buddy 😊

Always a beautiful fish. Thank you for the very beautiful video. Good button
Thanks mate!
Nice video! I'm tired of spending hours scrubbing one specific decoration in my 10 gallon tank. What do you recommend?

Good to know:)
Haha, thanks man!
Siamese Algae Eaters are a must for a cleanup crew. They will also annihilate string algae. Great fish.
Agreed!
Great vid
Thanks HG!

Sounds like a chinese algae eater.
The silver flying fox doesn’t eat slime coats. Also they can eat fish food too.
Mines did that. I had to take him out. Started chasing my White Nose Tetras. They were terrified.
Not Siamese, Chinese

Siamese Flying fox fish are not a fish

@@Lazarusthefishboy He probably means the bat that is also nicknamed the flying fox
common misunderstanding.
