The Siamese Algae Eater does have only one pair of Barbels on their mouth unlike the Siamese Flying Fox which has two sets (Four) another identifying factor when looking for the Siamese Algae Eater.
Thank you for the valuable information in this video. I am realizing that I likely have the Flying Fox and not the Siamese Algae Eater. Live and learn!
@@rickybennett1192 I have never kept the two together. You should talk to a qualified fish distribution facility or read as much as you can about the two species.
I’m gettin’ a Siamese algae eater for a 20 gallon but it’s only gonna be temporary to get all the hair algae I have a 55 gallon Southeast Asian biotope set up ready to be put together but I wanna move before I get it set up It’s gonna be the only fish in the 20 gallon tank with shrimp and snails
Best algae eaters I've ever had in a 75g...till they get over 3". Then the worst bullies, had to take back to the LFS. They were not Flying Fox or Chinese.
@@aquaticconceptsbringingwaterto Well. They are very sensitive to lack of oxygenation. I have no filter, planted tanks. Noone of the tanks worked for them. I bought three, for more of the price i could buy a bamboo shrimp. In two days, all died.
I love your content, but get rid of the repeating soft porn background music. Not only does it make it harder to hear you, but it's flat out annoying. Third video and I can't take anymore.

Great Video! Going out to get a few of these. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I was sold the Flying Fox instead of the Siamese Algae Eater? Wish I had seen this.
Same 😕
Me too. Wth?
Do they like flow or slow moving water.
@@MDBD2405 they do well in all current. They stay along the bottom.

Will they get along with fancy goldfish?
I have never tried them with any kind of Goldfish? All you can do is try.
Are these also what they call Otto's?
No and these are better! Otto’s are not very hardy and like a large school. Right now almost impossible to find. Good Luck!!!

I refuse to watch any video when there is someone talking over music playing, it's most annoying, you do not need both.
I don’t do music in the background on my new videos. Thanks!

I will work on that!
