Yes, this actually happened.
Interesting tradeoff with the pistols. Actually more powerful and faster but severely limited with ammunition. Probably much less efficient than other standard issue weapons so great for strike fighting and taking down a foe fast to get out of there. Perfectly fits the ARC Trooper athetotic especially with the small size. Would not be surprised if some commandoes kept one or two of them as a backup/sidearm.
First off I absolutely loved the video! I am curious though if the range issue you noted with the WESTAR M5 would actually be an issue in most situations clones found themselves. Other than the first battle at geonosis most of the conflicts did not seem (from my limited reading) to be at ranges beyond its 250m capability. So I wonder if that extended range of the DC-15A is just a useless feature oftentimes. Sort of like how during world war I, many of the rifles had up to a thousand meter range but were rarely used at that distance.
my favourite would have to be the two-DC17 combo or one-DC15s carbine. i am big on versatility and movement, so all heavy weapons immediately rank bottom. range can be made up for, not bulkiness.
I agreed with all except that the ranking system seems to favor enemy elimination over it's designed for. Any LMG style guns are intended for suppressing the enemy or drawing the enemies attention, more than direct elimination of the enemy.
Nah by far the DC-17M was the best weapon of choice if you had it, great fire rate, tremendous range even *without* the sniper module, the only real downside was probably where the magazine was stored on the left side making for a quicker reload, but it made Commandos have to cross draw to grab their rifle in a firefight situation, such as why most commandos were lightly forced to bring the commando pistol
if needing to be mobile in difficult tarain, or if i needed to infiltrate a city or something simular, i would probably pick the heavy blaster because of the size it had and beein a lot easier to carry or conseal without getting in the way. but if the goal was longer fights defenitly the rank 1. strong, hige capasity for shots etc.
Since most fights were shown to be up close, Westar M5. Bulky, but not that long. Not sure how fast it could shoot, but if it was faster than the clone rifle even better. And the ability to knock out an AAT? And a grenade launcher? ARC's used em for a reason.
Imagine if some Wookies got the Cip Quad and modified it for their size and strength, so they held it like a minigun. And the Z-6 rotary cannon would be a battle rifle equivalent to them. With their strength, Wookies could also carry a bunch of extra power packs and just be blaster hoses with those things. They might even modify them to have larger magazines or dual magazines, so they can fire longer burst uninterrupted. Both would have made good military assistance to the Wookies during the Clone Wars, being optimised to take out Droids. And the standard DC-15S would be a pistol to a Wookie, and the DC-15A a light carbine. Yes Bowcasters are effective weapons, but they aren't military grade automatic weapons.
Before the video started I already knew the DC-17M would be the winner, but then it got disqualified for being too awesome. Fair play, it wouldn't be a fair contest to have such a badass 3-in-1 competing against all the others. They're all cool, but I mean come on, a weapon that is SMG, Sniper, AND Grenade Launcher? No contest.
For a standard issue weapon, the DC-15S would be a better choice than the DC-15A in my opinion. Sure the bulkier rifle has more range and stopping power but the carbine still has plenty of range and firepower to mow down anything that moves while being incredibly easier to handle in CQB or when dismounting a vehicle. It's the same reason the M16A4 was replaced by the M4A1 in our military. The M16 has a higher muzzle velocity which increases the round's kinetic energy and has more effective range but the M4A1 is still more than capable of killing targets 500 meters away while being a much more maneuvrable weapon
The DC-15A had an effective range of up to 10KM. Which is why in the clone wars series why always see them get within 20 feet of droids before shooting
The DC-15A was the blaster carbine, not the rifle. In the canon Clone Wars TV show, (S2E20) Boba Fett, disguised as a clone cadet, refers to the blaster carbine as a “DC-15A.” This is also reinforced in SWBF2 (2017)
Would you consider making a video about specialized GAR blasters? Ones like Fordo’s pistols, DC-17M, scuba rifle, and any other I’m forgetting or don’t know about.
The DC-15A is basically a sniper rifle given a standard service rifle firing speed by raw power and the amount there were the DC-15A is the best but yes the DC-15S would be the most versatile while not sacrificing too much power
Read somewhere that Rex heavily modified his pistols for higher damage at the cost of only 25 shots per cartridge. And the pistol is synonymous with Rex. He's only ever been seen using a different weapon less than 10 times. Those who carry them rarely ever use them. Or at least get shown using them.
Incase you were unaware, “stopping power” isn’t really a true or real measurement of power. It’s just a made up term to explain how much energy is in a singular shot. A more accurate thing would be muzzle velocity and joules. At least for real world weapons, Star Wars weapons though? Maybe it is a real measurement. Or they use a different measurement since it’s a bolt. Good video though and I’m pretty sure most people knew what you were talking about, since that’s kinda the point of the term stopping power. Keep the vids coming dude!
The quad blaster became less uncommon in the empire, used by shore troopers. The Z6 remained the essentially one of a kind rotary cannon for at least half a century or more, and all major factions sans the First Order used it. The First Order in a sense made a more manoeuvrable machine gun which could be set up as a mounted mg or used similarly to a rotary gun, but it traded sheer output for all of this. The DC-15S was quickly phased out because it wasn't as good as the E-line of blasters. The DC-15A on the other hand remained popular with the Empire, who upgraded them heavily to serve as modular heavy weapons platforms. Standard DC-15As could be found being used by jumptroopers since their jump jets negated the weight of the blaster somewhat. The Westar line came to an end after the Republic massacres the Mandalorian Protectors (legends version), although they may continue to be used amongst the Old Mandalorian faction (basically the canon version of the protectors who willingly accepted the New Mandalorian government's order to leave Mandalore and who remained in fairly large numbers). The DC-17M most likely continued service for Imperial commandos, and the DC-17 pistol was used by rebels, particularly those who'd had a past relationship with the Republic.
Hmm just think for the z-6 that’s only 166 rpm. Equivalent to our worlds maxim machine gun. However it’s real world counterpart, the m132 mini gun fires around 1,500 rounds per minute
ranking the imperial arsenal would be more interesting , much more varied choice and ro be honest they are a straith improvment over the republic arsenal
Star wars heavy blaster pistols always felt busted. Always seems to all one shot kill troops. Also Z6 troopers are nuts, take them in every situation. D-DAY like landing on Umbara they're still taking them into battle. I'm surprised they aren't issued a pistol just in case.
Without watching, wouldn’t it have been the WESTAR M5? It was a general improvement to the DC-15 blaster rifle with better range, ammunition capacity, accuracy and firepower, capable of blowing through the top of an AAT in a single shot. It also came with an underslung grenade launcher. Although I’m not sure if it’s canon anymore.
Ok, Geetsly said the M5 severely lacked in range, but unless what I read was wrong, it was just generally an all round improvement… not sure where he got that info
I can understand mounting the longer rifle on a tripod, but why were they mounting a blaster the size of a submachine gun and can be fired with one hand on a tripod?

'Blast a half meter crater in 'fera'crete.' You're getting stats from that book again which claims an arbitrator cruiser turbolaser has 200 GIGAton yeild.
What book was it?
@@michaelandreipalon359 The 'incredible cross sections book series’ at the time it was written Star Wars fans and Star Trek fans were in a big 'who would win' argument, and the guy who wrote it purposefully filled it with a bunch of ridiculous numbers so star wars fans could quote it to win the argument. Yes, this actually happened.
We really need to stop this absurd SW vs. ST conflict. It's pointless.
@@michaelandreipalon359 just bring up the Xeelee and they'll shut up
Xeelee?
Interesting tradeoff with the pistols. Actually more powerful and faster but severely limited with ammunition. Probably much less efficient than other standard issue weapons so great for strike fighting and taking down a foe fast to get out of there. Perfectly fits the ARC Trooper athetotic especially with the small size. Would not be surprised if some commandoes kept one or two of them as a backup/sidearm.
Yo! The video kick ass but instead of makeing one of the rebels and the empire can u do planets system weapons I wonder how naboo firearms
i find it very odd the z-6 didn't have a power pack backpack at it would easily allow for more ammo
I'd prefer the DC-17M for it's modularity, adaptable to almost any occasion.
Edited for correct model number.
A-280 from Battlefront 2015. It is so versatile.
I'd have to go for the DC-15A, especially when used in full auto. That thing is a beast of a weapon
my favourite would have to be the two-DC17 combo or one-DC15s carbine. i am big on versatility and movement, so all heavy weapons immediately rank bottom. range can be made up for, not bulkiness.
I agreed with all except that the ranking system seems to favor enemy elimination over it's designed for. Any LMG style guns are intended for suppressing the enemy or drawing the enemies attention, more than direct elimination of the enemy.
Bear in mind the intended foes were droids who do not fear suppressing fire the same way organics do.
GAR always has the best equipment and vehicles
Not always. *looks at hyperspace-less Aethersprite*
if needing to be mobile in difficult tarain, or if i needed to infiltrate a city or something simular, i would probably pick the heavy blaster because of the size it had and beein a lot easier to carry or conseal without getting in the way. but if the goal was longer fights defenitly the rank 1. strong, hige capasity for shots etc.
Great video! I love these deep dives in the technology of the Star Wars galaxy.
Since most fights were shown to be up close, Westar M5. Bulky, but not that long. Not sure how fast it could shoot, but if it was faster than the clone rifle even better. And the ability to knock out an AAT? And a grenade launcher? ARC's used em for a reason.
I guess the flechette shotgun&shoulder resting chainguns don't count in this since they were battlefront exclusive or whatever
I think it more has to do with the fact all 4 main factions used the flechette shotgun
Blasters and flechette weapons are fundamentally different. One might argue that the 2005-SWBF2 chaingun is the concept for the Z-6.
I would take the dc-15 carbine and the Z-6 rotary cannon.
My favorite Blaster is the DC-17m for nostalgia reasons.
It's not a blaster, but the most effective weapon in the entire clone army was definitely the Z-6 Chaingun used by some Marines.
the DC-17, that thing was the gun for me and my unit
Can never go wrong with the DC-15s carbine.
7:35 damn so imagine having something like a 100 round g3 but a 40 round minigun haha
DC-15A fan here purely because Cody used it 😁
5:47 single shot... pump action? What does it do when you pump it?
You accidentally swapped the graphics for the DC15A and S
If the blaster can effectively scrap clankers then I’m using it
The DC-15A had an effective range of up to 10KM.
The Westar M5 is my personal favorite.
You forgot the Valken 38x sniper rifle
You should do the empire’s expansive arsenal too
DC-15a. That range, that sweet, sweet range
I think the images for the 15A and the 15S were accidentally switched (Of the opposite weapon) :)
The A is basically the FN SCAR 17 and the S is basically the Colt M4A1
Would you consider making a video about specialized GAR blasters? Ones like Fordo’s pistols, DC-17M, scuba rifle, and any other I’m forgetting or don’t know about.
>impressive range of up to 10km
>multiple scenes where clones literally cannot hit what's in front of them.
Clanka, please.
I think the best one was DC-15s since most clones used them and I love democracy, I love the Republic...
Just remember, don't be the side character who has a machine gun, they always die
Dc-15a for sure from this list, still like the commando weapon more tho
my dream loadout would be a dc-15a rifle and a dc-17 as a sidearm
Loved the Westar
I refuse to forgive you for not ranking the dc-17m despite including it in the video. That rifle is an absolute BLAST (pun intended) to use!
Best weapons and equipment of any faction
Is it just me or does Fordo’s dc17 look like a dc15s with the foldable stock removed and the weird triangular iron sight things sawed off
Many forget the M5 came with a sniper conversation
Sooo, how the frak did Han get ahold of *TWO* Cip-Quads for the Falcon's turrets!?!?
Honestly thought the z6 would be heavier. 16kg isn't too bad
Reciprocating quad blaster 😍👍
Hmm just think for the z-6 that’s only 166 rpm. Equivalent to our worlds maxim machine gun. However it’s real world counterpart, the m132 mini gun fires around 1,500 rounds per minute
ranking the imperial arsenal would be more interesting , much more varied choice and ro be honest they are a straith improvment over the republic arsenal
I always hated how in the TCW, the DC-15A seemed rare despite having looking incredibly powerful and intimidating in the hands of a clone trooper.
Star wars heavy blaster pistols always felt busted. Always seems to all one shot kill troops.
Also Z6 troopers are nuts, take them in every situation. D-DAY like landing on Umbara they're still taking them into battle. I'm surprised they aren't issued a pistol just in case.
What the pistols don't show is that they are less stable, and thus accurate, and they reload more frequently, which is a small issue for blasters
When any verse has infantry with miniguns I have to wonder why they would trash others work... realism goes right out of the window..
Which is my Most Absolute favorite?
One word: YES!!!!!
i think you have the pictures for the ds 15 a and s flipped
