      Quick query regarding the "Topps Star Wars Cards" advert.
      Does Topps provide an app allowing download / printing of the cards onto physical card-stock?
      I think the cards look pretty cool and wouldn't mind printing off some of them for say, mounting in a frame...
      p.s. "Chopper" should have a RED villains card! :)

      Man I love that line, it's so chilling now that EP 3 is out. Jango knew what the Clones were really made for, not as an army to fight for the Republic in the coming war, but an army meant to aid the Jedi and kill them when they least expected it. That's why the Prequels are my favorite era of Star Wars, you see Palpatine manipulating the Republic, Jedi, CIS, even villains like Maul, Dooku, Ventress, Grievous, and the many commanders of the CIS are all victims despite many being evil. They threw their lot in with SIdeous only to be betrayed and most killed off by or during the end of the war, or if survive became enemies of Palpatine's new Empire, while the Clones are probably the greatest victims as they were created expecting to fight for the Republic and often befriending the Jedi during the war, only in the end to be forced by inhibitor chips to betray the Jedi and becoming the iron fist of the Empire for only 1 or a few years until most died or were retired and phased out by the Human Stormtroopers. This all makes that scene in Kenobi of the 501st Clone begging for food on the streets so sad and tragic. To see after all he's been through, just discarded and even the Stormtroopers pay him no mind.

    88 pounds of plastoid armour? I'm surprised they didn't ditch the shoulder pads and such to reduce weight like how our soldiers do.

    • @cillianennis9921
      @cillianennis9921 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      the weight is actually quite close to that of modern militaries & even the old knights of the middle ages so it's the best weight for a soldier to be wearing for its protection. I am still surprised its so heavy I thought it'd be lighter as its not really a anti-ballistics armour but an anti-energy beam armour but I guess for something to effectively distribute the energy it needs to be thick & have a large surface area.
      Edit: after looking I found out that its way heavier than I thought. I don't use pounds & had mixed up the roughly 40 pounds of weight with the 40kg he said which means its double the weight of an actual armour.

    • @Lilrob06
      @Lilrob06 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@cillianennis9921thing is that knight armor made them very hard to take down, like equivalent to a mandalorian in starwars. I do not think that the clone armor was as weak as only being able to take a blast from a holdout pistol. @@floriansteininger347 Yeah the heaviest a soldier does hold however 158kg for a short time like 6 miles. Not sure how long you could actually do it with about 80kg. Maybe if we take into account the fact that some planets gravity will be different then it mightn't be the worst but it still seams very heavy for what it is. You'd have thought that it'd have been round the same weight as modern stuff as its the sweet spot of military equipment by how its basically remained the same for a few centuries.

    I like how someone had done their research & made the armour a realistic weight as the 48kg they say is very close to all militaries throughout history from the medieval knights in armour to modern soldiers in Kevlar & with only really centre of the body armour which all are in the 40-50kg weight amount as it is the ideal weight for protection ratio of most militaries & is why even in a far future why you'd expect a similar weight as it balances out quite well.
    Edit: after doing some looking I learnt that I had mixed up the Pounds value & the Kilogram value so it actually is insanely heavy. twice that of the roughly 20-30kg of modern armour & equipment.

      I would say that stormtroopers and republic troopers are about the same, maybe the republic troopers are a little better. Given that both are regular people being recruited/drafted, although it’s implied that stormtroopers were sent to the academy as soon as they were of age (so 15? That’s how old Ezra was I think). So without any solid side by side comparison I would say equal with the clones being superior to both.

    I love that the phase 1 armor was so uncomfortable because of the fact that the Kaminoans had little knowledge on the intricacies of human anatomy. Also I think it’s so odd that Disney canon changed the names of the Clone blasters. The DC-15 [a] is now the DC-15 and the DC-15 [s] is now the DC-15 [a]. I also really hate that the proper DC-15 blaster rifle isn’t in Battlefront 2 (2017). There’s just the carbine and a heavy blaster variant of the DC-15. It’s something that I always requested to be added to the game but now support for the game has been officially ended by DICE/EA so yeah. It was unlikely anyway since not that many people were making that request.

    40kilograms/88 pounds for clone armor?
    that's literally impossible that's double the weight of a medieval heavy armor. And since we saw them move so freely, it has to be lighter, around 10 kilograms maybe. but except this excellent content about the grand army of the republic.

    • @jakewalsh1029
      @jakewalsh1029 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I’d like to assume that the clones were extremely fit. That’s my head-canon, however. But realistically, it’s not unbelievable. The average marine soldier will carry around 100 pounds as of 2003 when the standard weight of equipment worn by one had been newly established. Also, you have to realize, clone armor was worn all over the body while marines is not. Yes 90 pounds sounds like a lot but when you disperse it all over your body, it’s really not that bad. Weight is a factor in slowness but properly distributing weight is also a factor. Let’s assume the chest weighed 32 pounds, 13 pounds in front and 19 in the back as the back of clone armor had the life support, that’s about the same weight of a Kevlar vest with plates in front and back. That’s about 60 pounds left to disperse. Let’s assume the helmet is 10 pounds. That’s about 12 pounds left to distribute evenly onto your limbs. It sounds like a lot, which it is if you go home and try to lift a 12 pound weight with your arm. But like I said, distributing weight matters. Clones wouldn’t feel that 12 pounds of weight all on your hand. It would be on your forearm, biceps, and back of hand. If you factor that in, wrap a 6 pound weight evenly distributed on your bicep, a 5 pound weight in your forearm, and 1 pound on the back of your hand. It feels much better doesn’t it?

    • @revan22
      @revan22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jakewalsh1029 yeah but the 100 pounds include backpack, weaponry and extra ammunition. And what bothers me it's that a marine is never seen running fast like clone always does for literal hours, and rolling, having flexibility in combat and being able to basically do anything without a sweat. I know they're kinda on steroids but if the armor was really that heavy then the representation of clone troopers in clone wars and films doesn't look this way.

    • @jakewalsh1029
      @jakewalsh1029 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@revan22 well sure but that “weaponry” and backpack and extra ammo are extremely light. Even carrying 200 pounds of extra 5.56 ammo won’t be too much more than 6 or 7 pounds and that’s going to be on your chest which 6-7 more pounds on your chest while wearing a fully kitted Kevlar vest won’t feel much different. The weapon is also not that heavy so it won’t hinder them and it’s also slung around them usually. I could hold an AR-15 with my middle finger and thumb on the buttstock. Holding an M4 is not difficult at all as they’re extremely light. Same with the rucksack. Having a decent rucksack that isn’t heavy isn’t unimaginable. But remember, placement of weight on your body makes a difference. Marines carry stuff in their backpack, that is true. However, we can assume safely that that extra weight can be dispersed onto a clone body as clones wear full armor unlike marines who only wear chest and helmet. Yes the marine’s load out includes extra things that clones wouldn’t carry but at the same time, clones armor is much more extensive and the weight won’t be as much of a nuisance since it is evenly dispersed among all four limbs.
      Now for the physical capabilities. Yes. Clones have somewhat of superhuman physical capabilities. If you don’t mind, I’ll be pulling my evidence from legends as I’m currently reading “hard contact” which is a legends book. However, if you have a problem with using legends, just ignore what I say here. Clones were expected to be able to run 40 kilometers. With or without gear was never specified. Having that kind of endurance is insane. Clones being able to run for extended durations is thanks to not only that, but their enhanced genetics allowing them better endurance. It’s also nice that you brought up sweating for clones. In the novel, it actually talks about the clone armor climate control. It automatically cools you down if your body heat gets too high. However, at the same time, it did mention that darman’s climate control systems had trouble keeping him cool after he ran about 400 meters.
      Also, I’ve never seen a clone run for literal hours in any Star Wars media I’ve seen/read at least not in full armor. Clones being able to sprint for short amounts of time is the only thing I’ve seen. They walk mostly when it’s for extended periods of time like on umbara. As for rolling, if you’re talking about battlefront m, that’s probably game mechanics. I never thought too deeply about a game. If you’re talking about the clone wars, like I said, dispersion of the weight of armor makes a difference. You also have to realize that most marines, even the fittest ones, aren’t as fit as clones. And you have to realize, most combat footage we see from marines are already when they’ve been in Afghanistan’s heat for hours. Clones don’t have to worry about heat exhaustion. Same for flexibility in combat. Realistically, clones only had to feel the chest armor. The armor on the limbs and head were very minuscule. If you can properly maneuver with 30 pounds in your chest, you’re fine.
      Also, this is just my head-canon but I’d like to assume that the kaminoans augmented how easily adrenaline is created in clones so that adrenaline basically comes anytime they see an enemy so they can perform all of these crazy stunts. After all, having adrenaline to accomplish superhuman feats is the only reason why they let clones not be sterile.

    can we just talk about how tragic the story of clones were?
    The very thing they were born to hate, Battle droids, we’re exactly like them. Forced and made just for war, both with their own identification number, personality and emotions. Both were just used as pointless soldiers for a pointless war. Only soon were they exploited, with the clones chips forcing them to turn on the only people in the galaxy who gave a shit about them, or in the droids case, being droids were forced to just stop and fall, shutting down. They never got the thing they thought they would get.
    All the time they spent with their Jedi generals, the same man who had been with Cody all those years, Kenobi, and all Cody did was just order a ATTE gunner to fire him down. All he had to say about it was
    “ Couldn’t I have shot him before I gave him the bloody lightsaber? “
    Then jag, without hesitation, without even a single thought, shot down the same man who cared for his clones more than anything else in the damn galaxy.
    You really start to think, “ We’re the droids really more savage than the clones? “
    And if you did, the answer would be no.
    But that’s not because the droids were evil, they never were.
    It’s just that the clones and droids the whole time were both the people in the right.

In the past you have discussed many of the aspects of the various lightsaber forms (and even did a video for each recently), but I made a discovery while commenting on your recent form 7 video... Would you please consider doing a video that compares form 7 and form 2?... specifically how the two might relate in evolution from 2 to 7 (similarities), and in combat against each other (how would any differences between the two likely impact each other).
    PS: A with and without Vaapad explanation would also be appreciated. :)
