  • This time, we explore one of Kyoto's oldest and most revered sweet shops, founded in 1803 during the Kyōwa era. This traditional wagashi shop has been crafting exquisite Kyoto sweets using tools passed down since the Edo period and the pure water from the shop's natural spring Their signature sweet, "Ubata-ma," is beloved for its refined taste, featuring the rich aroma of azuki beans and the deep flavor of Hateruma Island's black sugar.
While preserving the traditional methods of Kyoto confectionery, they also innovate with new creations like the popular "Sliced Yokan," a delicately thin sweet developed to pair perfectly with bread. Seasonal sweets, inspired by the vibrant colors and beauty of nature throughout the year, showcase the shop's creativity and freedom in wagashi making. One standout is a visually striking blue wagashi, offering a smooth texture and a refined, delicate sweetness. Visitors can also enjoy matcha and wagashi in the tea room within the shop.
