I am 61 and have been practising for 3 years after a few lessons from a proper teacher and then a few more from his apprentices. I was doing it to recover from an operation. I used a Cd with the 21 step form on it and TH-cam videos for the 8 Brocade. I am self taught to a large degree- do things wrong but still receive the benefit - get what it's about. My legs have gotten stronger and am aware of balance which helps as you get older - falls are a problem! The snake posture is out for me - will never get that low again! Used to be very supple. I recommend Tai Chi to anyone and everyone - if we survive, we age. Aging is a fact of life. You can't do hard sports when you are old. This is the answer. And start young if you want to it will just make you better at it. I wish we did this 'in the square' in Western culture. People will think I'm nuts if I go and do this in a public place!
161linski , Super ! I am 55 , suffered 2 accidents that left me with some physical issues . 9 months , learning the form with a teacher . Some days I can't do certain moves but after each lessons my body is no longer in pain , I feel rejuvenated and fresh . I have never missed a lesson , I have dragged myself out of my chair for it . I truly enjoy it and it is fun too
First thing, Respect to this man for his teachings. Now to the obvious, comment. WOW he is over 50? He looks AMAZING for his age. Okay now I am more convinced this is what I needed to do.
Excelente master!
I LOVE AND RESPECT ASIAN TRADITION... TAI CHI IS BEAUTIFUL... thank you for preparing and sharing this with us... BIG THUMBS UP!!! take good care and PeaCe2U... Kensho
wow, I swear that i see very similar movements of these in Pinan Yondan (Karate). it is very interesting to see the Kungfu version (original version ?) of the movements. Love Tai chi. gotta learn it.

Why taichi of master yang Sho Hou not include it, we know the real diciples or heir from master Yang Ban Hou, is him not Yang Cheng Fu, and we knows too that skils of Yang Ban Hou is more From Yang Cheng Fu.
Beautiful work. You can see how dedicated the practitioners are in participation and very attentive when practicing. Continue the good work and quality information being presented here.
Does anyone know the name of the song and artist from 1:00 in this video? I have the title 'Masters of Heaven and Earth' (also from which this clip is taken) by Empty Mind Films and recommend it to all those who like this clip.
I wonder if he teaches its combat use since though Yang Chin Fu was a great fighter, his own variations are why many dont know Tai Chi Chuan has a combative side. No disrespect intended, just wondering if he teaches that aspect. Some choose not to(though I dont personally agreed with that)
I've been practicing tai chi for two years and my master has never told me how to form my fingers or the palm of my hand. That is a pity that I don't have access to such dedicated and detailed masters. I'm so jelous of the people in this video
Don’t be jealous. We can just be thankful to learn that here and move on. It’s their culture, a part of their wider culture so the whole surrounds support that activity. Not easy at all to find such like anywhere in the west at all. About the hand reflecting the body embodying taiji principles, that’s not usually taught in the first few years anyways
Chan Man Ching was Changfu's top student not your Grandfather lol to call this a 5 th Generation Yang family tai chi is not quite correct, Chang fu's Father had many top students before his death that were better then Chang Fu, but because they did not accept Chang Fu as their teacher and master they were not placed in the LINEAGE TREE, so this is all none sense ,Cheng fu was the least best of all the Yang family masters,l would not brag about that lol, many of the students that practiced with Chang fu's father were much better then Chang fu and were his seniors in both years spent practicing and information learned and in turn had many students of their own,so to say direct yang family is all relative
I'm guessing CMC told you that? Or one of his students. CMC was not particularly well regarded by the Yang family. He never became a disciple. Chen wei ming, Fu zhong wen and yang shao cheng were quite senior to CMC. There's no shame in that but cmc made it arguably much harder to learn tai chi by obscuring YCF's already simplified form. I personally think he robbed the west of learning the full art as taught by YCF in order to make himself famous.
@@joshpickles9022 What James wrote is in a book of Stuart Olson. He is a disciple of T.T. Liang who was also a disciple of CMC. But what I have read about CMC he never spoke bad about Chengfu. What I have read that CMC needed deeper understanding of the form and asked the Yang family for further instruction but they refused him. Later he learned from a Taoist and his skill became much better.I think its rather cause why he changed the form.

A master of Tai Chi rather than a master of sartorial elegance one suspects. Still a gentile art worthy of note...

Is this the guy interviewed by Joseph Campbell so many years ago for his Power of Myth or something around that series?
