As a Niners fan, it was an extreme morale boost when Detroit went for it on 4th down after we had kicked a field goal, instead of just matching it and keeping us 3 scores down. That's when the tide turned and it felt like we were going to come back and win.
That was NOT when the tide turned. The tide turned when Detroit (up by 17) fumbled on the opening drive to start the half and the 49ers recovered. From there it was up for the 49ers.

I get it, the San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara. Seems to be mentioned by the announcers every game. Why don't we hear the same comments about the New York Jets and New York Giants? They play their games in a different state. Their stadium is in New Jersey.
It's apples & oranges with the Jet/Giants Stadium. Did you know that Levis Stadium venue is located the farthest from its namesake City in all of professional sports, (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL)? And that Levi's is only 3 city blocks from San Jose city limits? In other words, the SF 49ers are more San Jose's team than San Francisco's. Whereas NYC is only about 11 miles from Metlife?! Levi's is at least 45 to 50 miles away from SF. Something ain't right here bro, & people are finally seeing it.

@@hadlee189the headquarters was always in Santa Clara, they just played in SF. Without hella traffic from SF to the stadium is about 45-50 min. Still within the bay area so there’s no need to change the city name. Fans would riot, there is too much history connected with SF

I don't get the whole Santa Clara vs San Francisco thing. The Bay Area is one continuous populated area. People hardly ever mention that the Jets and Giants don't play in New York. Seems odd.
Up until 2013 the Niners played their games at Candlestick, so it was a sore point when the city couldn't find a place within SF for a new stadium. Currently the Giants and the Warriors have their own homes within SF.
It was gross mismanagement. They let the tech bros poach their team. sf leaders are inept. Just look at the city now. I suppose it has been for the better

Why do so many people feel the need to mention Santa Clara? Dallas doesn't play in Dallas. And the Giants and Jets don't even play in New York lmao.
I think people forget Purdy rushed for nearly 1200 yards in college. Scrambling isn't new to him; he definitely can do it well when he needs to.
He can, but he doesn't rely on it every other play because he can usually make the play over the air. It's just another weapon he keeps in his back pocket for a rainy day, and it was starting to storm metaphorically in that stadium, so what does he do?
He battens down the hatches, buckles up and makes the plays necessary to weather the storm and come out clean on the other side. THAT'S what playmakers do, and that's what Purdy did.
May not have been a pretty game, but at the end of the day he did what mattered and got the W.

No interest. Asked later just before the Philadelphia game how high would Purdy go in the draft now, he said 2nd-3rd rd. This guy gets paid to be a scout? Purdy is a No1 pick in any draft.

The end of the first half field goal was the start of the failure. The points were safe, the difference became comfortable and told the Lions they were ordinary and could not get a TD. Purdy took advantage of the let down in the second half.
Dallas and New England also play outside of their home city
49ers outside of Trent Williams have a shit O Line and their defense is very overrated. Purdy has been carrying them way more than people admit all season. He's really good
I agree about the offensive line, though it’s roughly the same defense from last year, which wasn’t overrated. I think the DC has a hand in their decline. We also lost all-pro Hufanga who is a playmaker and difference maker on D. D hasn’t been up to par this year. Purdy has been solid most of the year and carried them many times. Wish the D wasn’t acting all suspect.
Fyi, Santa Clara is about 35 mins from SF unless you get caught in traffic

💯 My only disagreement is Dan Campbell went 20-25 in the regular season and 3-5 in post-season on converting 4th downs. It worked him and the Lions. Of course, he's going to use them. I would've done the same. Seven is more than three, especially in a game like that. But it worked better for the Niners! Lions are a great team, NFC North is going to be fun to watch next season!
