As a Niner fan, hearing Stephen A confirm what literally every fan and team member has said all year, that the Super Bowl last year should have been 49ers v Chiefs, is so euphoric
No shot. Protecting your qb is part of football…. Literally every team has to do it… the 9ers couldn’t. Not only could they not protect 1 qb… they couldn’t protect 4 qbs. That is a MAJOR weakness that’s part of football that was exploited.
Saying, “well if we could have just protected our qb we would have won” is the same thing as saying “if we were just a little faster and better we would have won” its a skill issue on the o line last season

The point that all of the national media is missing about Purdy is his O-line is ranked 25th in pass protection with Williams. So when was Trent Williams was out for 2 games, his O-line ranked bottom of the league and he STILL played good for 6 quarters out of 8. He threw those picks in the 4th quarter and thats all the media remembers. In Purdy's defense, the whole team wasn't playing to their standards in those games they lost thats why they lost. Purdy plays with deadly anticipation and accuracy, so if his recievers are not in lock step with him, Interceptions can be had.

You could see this coming. Philly was overdue to get thumped, especially by a team with a huge chip on their shoulder. I'd be more concerned about losing to Dallas. This is where Philly needs to ask themselves how bad they really want this. They're still in the driver's seat, but late season losses can change everything.

As a Cowboys fan I 100% agree they’re the best team. Not just because they smoked us, but that they have done that to a lot of good teams. They’ve got the best talent, and arguably they’re the best coached. Cowboys would be really lucky or something would have had to go really wrong if they win the NFC over 49ers, and I’m not saying that would be true for everyone else but I would be surprised if they don’t win unless something falls apart (they have been shown to be able to be inconsistent when they don’t have all their pieces). AFC wise, I’d love to see the Dolphins or Kansas City rise up and give them a good game, but they’ve both got things they really have to figure out in order to have a chance. Imo, the 49ers are kind of scarily in a league of their own. When they’re at their best I just don’t know who could be a them. I understand if Purdy didn’t get MVP just because it’s his second year, but as much as Dak has done for us I’d vote Purdy (or Hill potentially).

I have to disagree with one thing. I think it should be between Purdy and Prescott. As a 49er fan I would love for Purdy to win it but would not be upset if Dak won it. Like Romo, Dak has received a lot of undue criticism. So I would be okay with it just so his critics would just shut up. With Purdy if he won it the goal posts would just be moved. He will never shake that last pick tag no matter what he does short of winning a Superbowl all by himself.

Give the Brock credit! The 49ers were trailing 6-0 early in the first quarter. We didn't come out with guns blazing. It was a slower-than-ideal start, but once Brock found his groove, it was game over. Down 6 points is still playing from behind, especially with how AJ Brown was torching the middle of the field in the first quarter.

felt like they came out swinging too hard against a solid team, looked promising but we all knew it was far from over. Worst games for SF with injuries was averaging 17 points. They are healthy, that's 30+ guaranteed. I was curious if Eagles could play shootout against that 49ers defense but there's a reasons it was 6-0 not 14-0 to start.

I agree that if the 49ers can stay healthy, I don’t see any team beating them in the playoffs or Super Bowl. SF49ers have put a beat down on Philadelphia and Dallas this year😮
Shanahan is the weak link. His 4th quarter play calls in the playoffs have been TERRIBLE. He has blown leads like 28-3 and multiple 4th quarter 10 point leads. This is the only way the 49ers do not win the Super Bowl. Hopefully Shanahan has learned from his mistakes and decisions.
The only NFC team that has a chance to deny them are the Lions for the simple fact that the 49ers haven't played them yet.

the field goal kicker lost one of those games for Purdy. Yesterday, Purdy could have folded after the first quarter when the team had -16 yards and zero completions. Instead, he took the team on 6 straight touchdown drives.
Two games actually
Purdy threw a pass directly into the hands of a defender on the first play of that last drive against the Browns. It was a dropped INT, saying the kicker lost it is the same thing as saying Brock should’ve lost it before they were ever in FG range.
@@Chris-2 Purdy brought the team back to within field goal range to win the game. The kicker missed an easy field goal. Those are the facts. Who knows what would have happened had the interception been made. We do know what would have happened if the field goal was made. BTW, the 49ers dropped an interception a couple of times in those losses.

Yeah, I think the strategy from the defensive line was one of containment to keep Hurts in the pocket; one play saw Chase Young level Hurts as he got the ball off, but Bosa was totally bulling Lane Johnson backwards. They refrained from getting too aggressive, let alone blitzing. The linebackers and defensive backs answered really well.

I think 9ers fans probably don’t want Brock to win it because it’ll add not just more pressure on him but for the team to win the SB. At this point for them it’s SB or bust, they won’t be able to pay everyone and keep the loaded talent they have for much longer and John Lynch knows that
@@vincew4297paying everyone just depends on their ego. Getting paid isn’t a guarantee. We have seen, although rare, players taking a team friendly contract in order to keep the team together. Especially when they win.

@@calebgrigson you do realize this is football right and these contracts aren’t guaranteed for them like other sports and the players are more disposable. Even when you win players will still leave. Look at what’s happened with Kansas City. You can’t keep that nucleus of talent forever. Every team has a shelf life and windows that are closing and San Francisco is no different. If they don’t win the SB this year they’re going to struggle to bounce back from that. Also Brandon Aiyuk is still on his rookie contract and he’s going to want to get paid along with others on their defense, who after this season and the season after, will be in the final years of their contracts. They’re going to need to win now while they still have everyone

During the 49ers losing streak, Sharpe didn't believe in Purdy saying, "I told you so." Now he's saying Purdy is leading the MVP race. Orlovsky is contradictory. He says Purdy is all-world and criticizes Smith and Sharpe for saying Purdy needs a lead to perform. Yet, he says Dak is leading the MVP race. These guys are fools.
Purdy is a very good QB, but not an MVP. We literally saw Purdy lose 3 games in a row without Trent Williams and Deebo. He has an all-star cast around him, but when they were gone, he wasn't the same. That should be all there needs to be said for Purdy as MVP. He's a very good Qb that works perfectly in Shanahan's system. He's not even the most valuable guy on his team. Its probably Trent Williams, Deebo, McCaffrey THEN Purdy on offense. Some defensive guys on their team could have an argument too bc they're elite at every other position.

And by people, I also mean GMs of NFL teams. You could draft the greatest QB ever, but if your line sucks they will never be able to reach their potential.

System helps but if QB’s weren’t allowed to have a good supporting cast we’d have to revoke a lot of MVP’s over the years. Purdy punished Philly with their great lash rush but weak secondary with quick, accurate short passes but his stats have proven he’s a deep threat too. Having 0 interceptions over 9 games and 5 total is all him as well. It’s fair to argue other players deserve it as well but he’s at least in the convo right now.

Purdy is the MVP right now by the definition of the award. This is a QB award and he has had the best season among all QBs this season. If Stroud and the Texans could have closed out some of those close games to have a better record, he would be leading the race but he didn’t start the season as strong, which is expected by a rookie, and they don’t have the record to back his case.
Purdy has it all right now. Nobody is going to dispute the fact that he’s the 5th or the 6th best player on that offense but among QBs, nobody has a better case.
Efficiency is there, numbers are there. 4th in TDs. Him, Dak, Herbert and Stroud are the only people to have 20 or more TDs with 0.5 interceptions or less per game. QBR and passer rating, he’s first. Only 6 QBs have more yards per game than him among QBs who have played the whole year. And he has these numbers only 332 pass attempts, that’s 23rd in the league. That is partly on the yards after catch but when we look at his competition, Dak has 411, CJ is at 418, Hurts has 403, Tua 401. He is so efficient.
So he has the numbers but Dak and CJ have just as good numbers, why don’t they lead the race. CJ isn’t winning his division and is barely in the playoffs right now. The team success isn’t helping him. And Dak doesn’t have that signature win right now. Now the Seattle win was impressive but he still hasn’t beaten a top tier team yet. Purdy has that. He has big wins in games he played big. Jaguars game after a 3 game losing streak, throws for nearly 300 yards and has 3 TDs. This week he beat the Super Bowl favorites with 314 yards and 4 TDs. Cowboys game, 250 yards and 4 TDs. The only big game he didn’t perform well in was the Bengals game. 1 TD and 2 interceptions with 365 yards btw.

Let them keep talking as if the 49ers won the Super Bowl. They waxed us. At least we can take an L. They cried all offseason about how they didn't have a QB for the NFC Championship Game like it was literally the reason they didn't make it to the Super Bowl. Everybody on their team came in healthy. They act like guys came in dealing with injuries and ailments. We have to get better, we have to be better, and we have to be ready to play. Focus on winning the game. That's part of the bigger picture. We will bounce back and we will bounce back convincingly.
