His average air yards per pass were number one in the league last year- he throws the ball deep all the time- it takes a little longer to get there compared to the strongest arms, but it hasn't held him back. He is more built up this year anyway. When Aaron Rodgers took over for Favre they said they same thing- he was accurate but didn't have a big arm like Favre. In a few years everyone was saying he had the strongest arm in the league. Purdy's arm strength will keep getting better every year as he hits the weights in the offseason.

Purdy almost always makes the right decision with the ball, and then executes it well. His passes are almost always perfect spirals. If his first read isn't open, he just goes down the line to find the open receiver. Joe Montana said that he realized at some point that his job was to get the ball to the player that should have it on every play. Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, John Taylor, Freddie Solomon, Dwight Clark, etc. Just get the ball to the guy that can do the most with it. That was why he was so good. Purdy exhibits the same capability. He doesn't try to force the ball between three defenders. He just finds the open receiver, or the receiver in single coverage. It's actually a pretty simple formula.
It's fun watching a QB throw a 70 yard pass flat footed, but having a QB who can make winning plays at a high rate when things are going wrong is far more fun.

Brock Purdy is a really good quarterback. Did he throw a couple of bad balls...sure! But what quarterback doesn't. He really doesn't make many mistakes and takes care of the football. He is also very mobile and has some wheels. He is one of the best with downfield throws of 20 or more yards and very accurate. People will continue to doubt him and that's fine, he's a very down to earth guy and humble with great faith. I've not been more excited since Steve Young was quarterback and I know that's a big statement, but Steve Young was criticized early on and in the shadow of Joe Montana and look at what he did for years. Both qualities that everyone around the league seem to stand on as their “legitimate” reasons for withholding the elite tag from Purdy. What sets Purdy apart is his work ethic. With each passing year he is becoming more and more a coach on the field. His effort in the film room is showing too in pre-snap reads. His preparation breeds consistency. Brock's teammates know how hard he works, so he earns their respect and develops into a leader.

You mentioned Purdy needs to play well in the playoffs to prove he’s elite. In the Packers game last year, it was raining and Purdy was having trouble for about 3/4 of the game getting much going. When the game was on the line, Purdy drove the offense down the field for the go ahead score that won it for them. Many other so-called elite QB’s like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Prescott, Herbert, etc. haven’t been able to do that. When the Niners were down by double digits against the Lions in the NFC Championship because they couldn’t stop the run, things couldn’t look any worse. Purdy put the offense on his back and mounted a comeback to win the game. Last year was Purdy’s first full season as a starter.
Purdy has a great shot at the double MVP- regular season and super bowl MVP- he was pretty close last year in his first full season.
Brock was a product of Shanahan the first year. He was the 3rd stringer, just go in, make smart throws and don't cost us. 2nd year Shanahan trusted him, the playbook was built on Purdys strengths. Good coaching builds with his qb together

No, everyone doesn't know. He had some of the best deeper passing numbers beyond 10 air yards last year, and I'm still consistently seeing people saying he only throws short passes.

Brock Purdy is a really good quarterback. Did he throw a couple of bad balls...sure! But what quarterback doesn't. He really doesn't make many mistakes and takes care of the football. He is also very mobile and has some wheels. He is one of the best with downfield throws of 20 or more yards and very accurate. People will continue to doubt him and that's fine, he's a very down to earth guy and humble with great faith. I've not been more excited since Steve Young was quarterback and I know that's a big statement, but Steve Young was criticized early on and in the shadow of Joe Montana and look at what he did for years. Purdy, last year, except that three game slide when there were a lot of injuries, was easily a top 5 quarterback. They won because of him on many occasions. Monday night, oh my goodness, this guy was in full control, confident, let the game come to him, didn't force anything. He has taken a step forward. Yeah, it is just a feeling, but he looked like a 10 year pro bowler in complete control. Monday night Brock Purdy is going to cause a lot of defensive coordinators to lose sleep.

We have been conditioned to look at the bigger more physical players as elite by default. Colleges will give full rides for" potential" and not for actual football ability. Brock is a baller. He is making people uncomfortable. Shattering stereotypes of what an NFL quarterback actually is meant to do; throwing the ball to the open man.

Shocked? Has he watched Purdy play since he replaced JimmyG? He's put up elite numbers since he came in against the Dolphins. He extends plays, he's a baby-faced assassin who loves the deep ball. Plus he and can read a defense as well as any actually-elite All-Pro QB in the NFL and better than most of the QBs these people think are great.
Same players for four different quarterbacks and this one is the best in the league? Worst line when two previous quarterbacks got injured but all the sudden they think the offensive line is good? No this is all Purdy making everyone better.
Not sure why Collin stated that Brock Purdy wasn’t accurate on deep throws. No QB was more accurate last season than Purdy, deep passes included. While there are many great QBs with cannons for an arm, the 2 most elite quarterbacks who have been given the GOAT tag, AKA Tom Brady & Joe Montana, did not have the strongest arms in the game, nor were they dual threat QBs. Both qualities that everyone around the league seem to stand on as their “legitimate” reasons for withholding the elite tag from Purdy. Truth is Brady and Montana got the ball to their playmakers and limited turnovers. Purdy is no different. He understands coverages, makes his reads then threads passes into tight coverage, over defensive layers, or to a spot where his playmakers can make a play on the ball. That is what definition of an elite QB is. Oh and he has the IQ to understand Shanahan’s playbook so well that he can correct any errors in the plays are being called in from the sideline. Nuff said.
