    I tried this and the paint started coming a year later. The best way to refresh brass door knobs is to sand them with a fine grade sanding block. Once down to the brass turn it black using Brass Black. You can coat with a quality laquer. This lasts!

    Looks really nice , Although I find when Door handles its best to just keep it as it is or replace them , IF you spray them , with constant use , people opening them with rings on or keys in hand , the paint easily scratches or rubs off . So the finish does not really last that long . In my country , funny enough , it may be cheaper (Possibly in the long run) to buy a new knob then spray it .Rustolem here is pritty expensive and one the best spray paint available , I just love using it . But yours did turn out pritty nice.

    Great video! I'm planning on doing the same thing. You make it look so easy. Thanks so much for the inspiration. 🤗

    This video was helpful to confirm what I wanted to do for my front door brushed/satin nickel handle. I wasn't sure if it could be spray painted to match a new oil rubbed bronze door lock I installed. But after seeing the results from this video, I decided to give it a try using a Behr Hammered Burnished Amber spray paint. It actually matched pretty well to the oil rubbed bronze finish on the lock. I didn't put much effort into the sanding and did a couple of light sprays every 5-10 minutes. Hoping it lasts.

      Yes of course :) I did them the same way but separately since it was more of an undertaking to take off the hinges

    Hi I have a vintage walking cane with a brass handle. The brass has a nick on it with discoloration. Is there anyway I can make that nick brass colored again ? Great Channel. Thanks so much.

    would this method work for painting brass pieces on a kitchen pendant? Wondering if the heat caused by the light would melt the paint or maybe even it would be a fire hazard. Or, could perhaps the heated pendant warm up the paint and make the odor of it fill the air? Thanks for the wonderful video!!

    What grit sandpaper or buffing block?

  • @TragoWallace
    @TragoWallace 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Does this work for handles with locks? I’d be worried it would jam the buttons or keyholes. Thanks for the video!

  • @20Eileeny

    Did you wipe down the knobs after sanding before spraying? I didn't notice it in the video. I know that can mess up paint adhesion. They came out really nice.

    • @EmilyBurn
      @EmilyBurn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did wipe them off with a damp cloth to get off all the dust and gave them some time to dry before the first coat of paint

    • @howardsend6589

      Faiza Raza I tried this. Knobs look great after primer and several coats of colour and clear. BUT ... they simply do not hold up to use. Brass exposed after very light use. I ended up replacing with new knobs. I think this spray technique would be good for household items that are display only and not subject to excess handling.

    There must be a really good reason why you left all the patio furniture next to the table while painting. I was cracking up watching you walk around all your furniture as you're trying to paint. So how much oversprayed ended up on the cloth of your patio furniture? And please don't tell me none. I think this video was more about what not to do when painting.
