Remove the air box, fit a k&n, Akropovics, or wings exhausts, remove the second gear restriction, get it Dyno'd and you'll love it's extra power! 👍🇬🇧

@Shadow Investors a "Dyno" is a machine which measures the bikes performance - lots of videos online - search "motorcycle Dyno run" :)

I got Dominator HP's on them now, but its a great bike to ride, I'm happy I got a supermoto as a second bike :) Man I hope winter is over soon

Nice video! I have One with a single exhaust and quite some mods! I strongly advice the single exhaust,lose about 9Kg gain a few horses and a lot of decibels!!
Ive ordered Dominators, short ones. So theyre a lot weightsaving as well but I know what you mean. I would also prefer a single one 😁 Thanks for watching!
@@FxMoto you Will be quite Happy with those! They Will make an hell of a sound,i advice you to flash the akra map(tuneecu and cable) to cope with the absence of the cats.Also by doing so you get a smoother bike,less twitchy and more enjoyable.I Also flashed a custom throttle map to remove the on/off and now it's smoother than ever.

Brooo,your 690 is much more advanced in tech than mine 660 smc,the real OG. No battery,no electric start,no key,nothing. That bike is as simple as internal combustion can get,kickstart it and hold tight that handlebars because it will lose you on the road🤣
Prestige has that gunmetal plastics all over and Marchesini wheels. Kudos on keeping the stock exhaust, aftermarket ones ruin the Dakar Rally look

I've bought a 2008 last year with 23kkm, put on 10kkm on the bike and i love it. Its a blast to ride and it has been 100% reliable. The only thing i dont like is that the engine doesnt really have any power below 3.5k/4k and beyond 6.5/7k.. is yours the same?
nevertheless great bike and on of the best you can buy under 4k€ and have that much fun!
Below 4k it does have power, but of course nothing crazy, above 6.5 thats normal, it doesnt rev out like the 4cyl do. I've only had it for about half a year and only put a couple of k's on it, but I have enjoyed it so much that I'm considering buying the new 690.
To get better throttle control and more input, you can put in your ep map the performance table from the duke's ep map, this unlimited de throttle.
I used to have the duke based on the same model, and one question I have is.. Why aren't you shifting up a gear when you're riding at higher speeds? Like the engine can take it.. But it doesn't mean you should leave it revving that high
I don't think I did that on purpose. But I do remember keeping it in higher revs because at low revs this particular bike seemed to feel like a pogo stick. Also just to get more power out of it I believe. Hi! I'm a totally noobie new biker from Italy, I just got a 2009 690 supermoto with 38k km as first real bike ever (I only drove 125 scooters for almost 4 years) because since 2012 I fell in love with the bike style, aesthetic and drive mode. I'm totally inexperienced with bike maintenance and the only datas I've gathered online are the same that I found on the maintenance book, which I understand but doesn't contain a "360°" view of it, may I ask you what are the major do's and dont's for this bike (about usage and maintenance)?

First of all thanks for watching and second of all your grammar aint bad lol. But I am afraid I'm gonna have to dissapoint you concerning maintenance, I've had this bike for about 6 months, 3 of which I havent used it due to bad weather. So I haven't really done maintenance on it myself either, and I've recently traded it in for 2020 SMC-R. Also I'm not a big maintenance guy myself, either I postpone doing it myself or I just take it to a garage whenever I feel something is off. Sorry I wish I could be of more help :)

@@FxMoto I actually bought the 2009 KTM 690 SM with the double Akrapovich exhaust and I love it, never going back to sport bikes again, thanks again for the review, it definitely helped me make the right choice!
@@robertsbrinkis2022 That's awesome to read. I enjoyed it a lot as well. I owned the 2020 after and I probably enjoyed the first iteration more. Which is weird, but it had a certain charm the refined 2020 didnt have :) Have fun with it! I already changed over to a super duke at this time 😅 have yet to make a video about it
@@FxMoto The first thing I loved about the 2009 model was just how raw it is, no abs, no electronic nannies, the only way to stay alive is to control your right hand :D Glad to hear about the super duke, I would love to see a video about it from you :) Ride safe bro!

Brother, a question, is this motorcycle recommended for long trips?
Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your comment, unfortunately I don't think this is a good motorcycle for long trips, I mostly used this one for local hoon rides and had a second 1000cc bike for longer rides. Even when I owned the 2019 690SMCR, it was still backbreaking on longer trips. Maybe you are in better shape than I am and it would bother you less, but I can confirm having pains days after taking long rides with the 690.

Some company gave me a XT for a testride, so KTM's loss xD
It rides really great 😁 I wanted a 950 actually but there was not one within reach or budget. Maybe later. The XT looks much similar in fun factor so I don't think you're missing out ^^

About the exhaust.. mine came with two holes next to the main exhaust pipe.. I drilled 2 extra more.. It now has a really better sound and the pops are more common :D
Where did you order your new exhausts? I wanted to buy akrapovic replicas, but they need welding.. so I don't wanna weld the original pipes. If you have more advices or even better, make more videos about it since I am kinda new with this bike!

@@adica Video making is kinda scarce right now that the weather has turned for the worse. I ordered Dominators, GP1 I believe, theyre a Polish company that make exhaust, do keep in mind though that if you live in Europe these are not E approved. I ordered hard db killers to make them less loud, because the medium ones that come standard are obnoxiously loud, they just bolt on, you remove the originals bolts, slip em off and the other ones on. Theyre short so they save a lot of weight too! Thx for watching!

Gonna buy a ktm 690 sm mrestige w 27k km of 2007 for 4000€. Is it worth it or not?
Funnily enough, I bought the new 690, then sold the new one and bought a 1290, now I am once again looking for a Husqvarna 610/630 or a Ktm 640/690 as a cheap second bike, in my country, which is Belgium, the prices at this time are around 4k, to be honest it is about 1k too much. Weirdly enough, winter seems to have less offers than summer, so once offers are more plentiful, the price should go down. Unless the money is not that much of an issue, I would not go above 3.5k unless your model is really pristine.
@@FxMoto ty for your fast answer! I'm also from belgium hahah. And the ktm that i will buy has 2x leovince exhausts. A friend of my said the same 3.5k is the price but the seller says minimum 3900 haha.
@@Kawasakibikerfreak in that case since we're in the same boat my advice would be to wait. Last year there were many more options than there are now and prices were lower. If u can wait, I would strongly advise you to wait as right now there are no truly great options available under 4k.
@@FxMoto i bought it today for 3800 hahah i couldn't wait because i got my license this month and i already want to start ;ppp. But i don't think i will lose money because the prices are around 4500 of these models. The only one problem is my insurance, the price is tooo high :/

Depends on what you mean by good. I am 193 as well. I did not have any discomfort size wise. But I did not take it on long trips, I used this to do commutes and daily shorter rides. Were I to, say, go for a ride of 300+km in a day, I would take my other motorcycle.
