Dean, just a tip for your trailer bearings, seeing as you do so many kliks chasing cod, bass, and barra, look into durahub. They run on oil, 80/90 diff oil is probably the minimum, I run 680 wt semi diff oil in mine. It's just a matter of changing the oil when it gets a bit dark. I've got about 6k on mine and changed it not long ago and the bearings didn't need any adjustment at all. The bloke who I got the idea from, is now up to 15k and hasn't needed to touch his bearings yet, just a simple oil change. To give you an idea he's done 3 trips from here to Gladstone, round trip 1600km, Cairns twice, round trip 2500km and a trip to Darwin and back, plus a few shorter trips.
Thanks mate, sounds pretty good i will have a look, i typically do mine once a year without them failing in between and get roughly 20-30k out of them. but some trailers can be different i guess, these ones seem to be running hot when most of my others have run cool. maybe bad brand of bearings
Hi Dean, great segment on your dads boat. I like the way you think about renovating the boat of your dads. Watch this space Dean, you are a great ambassador to the sport of fishing.
Hello Mate! I believe you made the right choice. Taking this boat down to the minimum. Is a great way to start your build. To know what you have. Is a peace of mind. Your other boat was a awesome platform. I bet Dean. You have even better ideas for this one. Go with very good products. Should save on maintenance issues. Here in the States. They put grease fittings on the bearings for the trailer. So you can give them a shot of marine grease. Before a trip to fish. Battery's upgrade for easy charging. I love to do maintenance. But love to fish more. Take your time on each part of the build. To see if you can buy or make each part better as you go. This may just be a business you can get into. Building boats for your kind of fishing. Dean, I wish I was there to help. This build really is interesting for alot of fishermen. Your part of the world is going into fall. Then winter. Fishermen have to have fishing related projects. To make it through the winter months. I pray for you and your Father. Have peace and joy even through trying times such as yours. Nothing but the Best Mate! Shawn from the States.
Thanks for the comments legend, appreciate your thoughts. Yes trying to make this one as good as i possibly can. Already feels like it is going to be a much better set up. Over here with Winter its one of our biggest seasons for fishing for Murray cod so there won't be many people sitting around, they will all be up early freezing there bums off trying to catch a giant fish.
Hey mate. I commented on the first vid- it’s awesome reconditioning your old man’s boat. It makes it personal, and mean something for just you and him. You mentioned naming it after words your Dad said. I had stickers made up - two lines. “Worlds Best. 1945-2003” and put it it on my boat and my car (which was his). The sticker was the exact same thing you are talking about. It was something he said, followed by his life dates. It’s a in-joke. It means nothing to anyone else. It means everything to you. Props to the honesty. I predict you will struggle to sell this boat given its legacy. I’m partially thru rebuilding my boat again - with the full intention of leaving it to my son. Loving these vids. Do it properly or don’t do it at all.
Hey legend, thats very cool about the dates added below the "in house" joke. I am not looking forward to the last number of that date so hopefully i have some time left for that one. Well done on doing up a boat for your son i hope it knows to cherish it and what it will mean to him in the future. Thanks for tuning in and sharing something personal mate
Hi mate , sorry to hear your dad is sick , hope he can make a good recovery. I'm sure he will be blown away by the rebuild . Well done so far.. If he's anything like me the electrics will blow his mind !
I think the electrics will confuse him haha! He is very smart but hates a lot of technology, so will be fun to show him what has changed in electronics over the [ast few years.
So sorry Dean to hear your Dad is unwell. I wish nothing but good thoughts and hope he is feeling well very soon. It's also nice to keep something from your father I hope you had some good memories with that boat. Looking forward to seeing the out come
totally get rebuilding ur dads boat. brother n i just finished a complete rebuild/overhaul of the ol dudes Bertram 25 flybridge. ur dad will be stoked, well done mate. time to run down them green monsters.
Done a super job with it mate. Great to keep your old man’s boat, my old man passed away & we sold his stessl edge tracker, wish we kept it. I’m not far from your old man, so sing out if I can ever help him out with anything, happy to help. Cheers 🎣
Mate thats looks mint, i really like how its flush under the gunwale and all ally. No hassles with water. I did a similar thing but not as deep, I kept the leg well and put a frame in that, when I travel I take the frame out and it works as a seat, when I stop I place the frame back in there and it's flat from front to back. I fell into the leg well a few times, nothing bad but it was enough to think, hmmm, might get rid of trip hazards LOL
hahaha yep falling in there could be a problem. I left dads original seat down the back so i will have someplace comfy to sit this time. The all ally is the best, no worries about rot and no worries about smell running sea dek all through it unlike carpet
Doing a great job,and haven’t wasted any time getting into the project. Will stay tuned in with anticipation.I sure your dad with the outcome knowing it’s still in the family.
Sorry to hear about your dad mate. Hope he gets better soon. Epic vid quality. On a side note. Never seen earplugs worn sideways before😂😂 tight lines mate looking forward to the first fish boated in the new weapon.
Looks deadly mate! Sounds like she's going to be a beauty and I bet it will be a joyful (and at times frustrating haha) process of getting it exactly how you want it. I reckon it's really cool how you're keeping something so special it in the family and I'm sure you'll make your old man proud 👍🏻. Cheers for sharing Dean! ♥️🎣🤠
thanks for always tuning in mate, yep boat builds can be frustrating and fun, i imagibe doing something from new is easier but this is fun. i am a bit OCD so i do get a bit frustrated with things not being perfect but i have to remember ist a mate and myself building this thing and neither of us are experts haha
@@DeanSilvesterThank you for always making great videos! Yeah mate I totally agree. I get crazy OCD about one thing only, fishing haha. From technique and species specific gear, knots, terminal tackle and lure choice etc. It keeps it exciting and at the same time keeps me poor! Yeeeww!! 🤠
hahaha keeps a lot of us poor but that desire to do everything right and have all the right gear is the passion that keeps us motivated and excited to keep coming back. its why i love it so much
Coming together nicely mate cant wait to see it in action! Been absolutely loving this channel since stumbling across it hands down favourite fishing content on here 🤘
It's looking the goods already! Did you do the ally welding? I can relate- my father wanted me to take his motorbike when he got sick because it was so frustrating for him to know it was sitting there but he was too sick to ride it. It made him happy to see it being used so I hope it gives your dad some comfort. Enjoy Darwin!
thats a great story, i didn't weld it. I just do the simple part of cutting and holding it in place and my mate does the welding. He knows what he is doing
@@DeanSilvester yea fair enough, im doing my tinny up but filling in under the 2 bench seats as well as under the main floor. Don’t want to sink if I get swamped. The basic foam it comes with wont keep it afloat if swamped.
Thanks for tuning in legends, I am very excited to bring you this boat build. Can't wait to see the end result! Going to be epic...
