lol - I keep meaning to do that. I found the guy in iRacing withering enough when he says 'bring it back, we're going' after I have had a particularly bad race :)
Cool video, Been using crew chief for awhile didn't know it could do some of those things at all. I also grabbed the VR HUD mod out of the comments for your previous video but have yet to try it.
It's so much fun. Also, look for the 'swearing' option in the settings if you are like me, and have a child like sense of humour :) Although, be warned, not great for streamers.
Yet another great vid, I'd suggest other vids like adding custom FFB files for those who dislike default or default+ FFB, joining groups to get better online races than just the random lobbies, many run dedicated servers that are password protected. Just subbed to your channel, (being an older gamer myself) good content from what I can see. Keep at it dude..
Paul, first off thanks for showing me how to make Crew Chief work with AMS 2. Second please keep making more video's as I have just found the channel and quite enjoy it (and yes I am subbed to it). I have however 2 questions. Is there a channel on You tube or Twitch that I can see you race live? And second, (not meaning to offend here but) you look a little young in your thumbnail to call yourself an "Old Gamer". In the thumbnail you look like you could be my son as I am 60 years old and still enjoying the gaming world. Never the less keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next content.
Hi, Thank you for the feedback and the sub :) I am glad you found the video helpful. I have this childish need at the moment to set crew chief for the swearing option, just to see how much abuse he gives me :) Streaming a live race: This is something I tried last year and I ran into a few problems. Firstly I am racing via VR, and I am using a 3070, which doesn't seem happy about doing VR AND streaming. Doing just VR or playing a flat screen game via streaming (I streamed some Starfield stuff this year) appears to be beyond what my 3070 feels able to cope with. Mostly I end up with frame drops and the occasional app crash, which never happens (or very seldom happens) when I am just using VR without the streaming side of it. So, long preamble I know, but to answer your question, it's on my To-Do list, but it will have to wait until I have upgraded my GPU, which will be after I have seen the benchmarks for the new super series that's being announced this week. With that in place, I am hoping to do some iRacing, AMS 2, and other Sims (plus other VR games) in the early part of 2024. During the transition from 3070 to 4070 super (or possibly 4070 ti super) I will do some back to back performance tests. My age: :) We are in fact both the same age, and yes, that photo of my, created in a hurry using animation software, needs to be replaced. I stuck it up because I was keen to get on with the videos, meant to replace it, then forgot about it :) Watch this space.... I style myself as an older gamer (not THE older gamer, but AN older gamer) because I have been playing computer games since the late 70's, and never really stopped. When I think of what we were playing then to what we play now, it blows my mind. I should do a video on it :) BTW - I have a more detailed explanation of being AN older gamer in one of my first videos, the PC construction one, which you can find here if you want to see that: th-cam.com/video/dm8jdlMjhVM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d4o-aF7fQMv4Wjr_ Bit of a rough video, but it was one of my first for this channel :) New video's are released at roughly one per week as this is a side project for me and has to fit in around work, which for me is mostly writing new books :) If you are interested in my books, written from an Older Readers perspective ;), you can find them here: www.paulekert.com Thank you again for your support. I think someone commented here that Authentic is for oval racing, and so if you use that in road racing, nothing is said. But that being said, I think crew chief is the better bet for spotter mode.
On my computer Crew Chief is working with Automobilista 2 for couple races only and than stops. I have to get out of the game and restart Crew Chief in order to start working again.
Hi there, go to the Crew Chief forums - thecrewchief.org/forum.php and report it there. Or drop into their discord channel. They are a very active community and do often produce updates of the software.
The in-built spotter has an "authentic" mode meaning it only activates on oval tracks, but not on road courses where spotters are (typically) not used. Does Crew Chief have anything like that, or is it an "always on" thing? It is only the spotter, not the crew chief, that would be nice to adjust in this manner.
It has to be said that it doesn't make a lot of sense that your spotter can see your car wherever you are on the track in a Road race, although obviously it makes more sense for the oval tracks... but.... I really like the spotter in these games and I find it more immersive than radar, which just gets on my nerves. But yeah, there is a level of unreality using a spotter in road racing, that's for sure.
Hi, thank you for the feedback. Yes indeed, some one else pointed that out to me the other day and it does make sense, so long as you know that. AMS2 is a wonderful sim, but it does need to cover some of the basics with a little more enthusiasm, like some sign posts to what settings actually do. Anyway, I love AMS2, so will be producing more videos soon.
Thanks for this guide! Just did a V12 race with the 1995 skins and it was magical being told by crew chief that Schumacher was 1 second behind me! 😊
That sounds awesome :) Glad the video was a help and thank you for letting me know about the Schumacher thing. I must try that myself :)
Most informative. Thank you from another old-er (64 year-old) sim racer 😂. Liked and subscribed!
Hi,
Great to hear from another older gamer and thank you for the subscription :) What are you racing?
BTW - 60 years young here :)
Crew Chief is a great addition. Make sure you enable "Sweary messages" in properties. Jim has me cracking up a lot.

Excellent, glad the video was helpful. I have yet to track down the VR HUD, but I hope to do so soon, then make a short video on how to use it.
Great video! Going to install this when I’m home

I had my spotter mode on authentic and never heard my spotter once that’s actually what led me to this video

@@OlderGamersPerspective Thank you for advice. I'm going to try the forum.

I love having Crewchief on in my road races. He let's me know when some pleb is about to kill me. LOL @@OlderGamersPerspective
Spotter set to authentic = no spotter on road circuits

thanks man
My pleasure :)

excellent clip
Thank you very much :)
Is good to have spotter in NASCAR , but not in every game.
I do like a spotter in road racing, it feels less immersion breaking than a radar.
