    Automobilista 2 Online Race Rating System Explained
    Automobilista 2 uses a two-part rating system for online races:
    1. Safety Rating: This letter grade (U-F-E-D-C-B-A-S) measures your clean driving behavior. It's influenced by factors like:
    Collisions: Hitting other cars, walls, or objects
    Cutting corners: Exceeding track limits
    Speeding under yellow flags: Ignoring cautions
    Unsafe driving: Sudden lane changes, erratic behavior
    2. Performance Rating: This numerical score (e.g., B1500) gauges your skill and pace compared to other drivers. It considers:
    Race finishes: Completing races without penalties
    Qualifying position: Starting closer to the front
    Race results: Finishing higher in the standings
    Clean laps: Running smooth, consistent laps
    How these ratings affect you:
    Lobbies: Many servers set minimum safety rating requirements (e.g., B100) to keep out reckless drivers.
    Matchmaking: You'll be paired with drivers of similar skill and safety levels in some matchmaking servers.
    Progression: You earn in-game rewards like liveries and credits for increasing your safety rating.
    Points to remember:
    It rewards clean driving: Focus on racing fair and avoiding incidents to raise your safety rating.
    Improving takes time: Don't get discouraged if your rating climbs slowly. Consistency is key.
    Not all servers use it: Some servers disable rating filters, allowing anyone to join.
    Controversies exist: Some players criticize the system's accuracy and fairness in certain situations.
    Additional resources:
    Reiza Studios Forum - Multiplayer Ranking System: forum.reizastudios.com/
    Steam Community - Use the rating!: steamcommunity.com/app/1066890/discussions/
    I hope this explanation clarifies how the Automobilista 2 rating system works for online races. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

      While the rating system focuses on individual drivers, the "status" indicator tells you about the server's current activity:
      On: The server is active and currently hosting a race or has open slots for the next session.
      Off: The server is either inactive (not currently hosting a race or accepting connections) or in pre-race lobby, meaning it's still preparing for the next session and not allowing new players to join yet.
      Therefore, when you see a lobby with "status: off," it doesn't necessarily mean it's unavailable. It just means it's not yet accepting new players for the upcoming race. You might need to wait for the pre-race lobby to close and the server to switch to "On" before you can join.
      Here are some additional points to consider:
      Some servers might be password-protected, appearing as "off" until you enter the correct password.
      Servers hosted on private networks might appear as "off" to players outside the network.
      Server filters within the lobby browser can influence what you see. Consider adjusting them to show "off" servers if you want to see all available options.
      I hope this clears up the meaning of the "status: off" i

      Thank you, that's very helpful, although also somewhat complex. Hopefully other people reading this will become aware of what they are seeing. As I said in the video, the interface does need a bit of an update, perhaps in that update some of this information could be separated out, or some tool tips would be available.

      It does kind of explain the system, but on both of the links you gave me, I couldn't find any additional information. Even typing in Multiplayer in the search didn't bring up this information. Is there a PDF manual for AMS2 available?
      I am interested in matchmaking servers, but I wonder how that works if there is now way to filter for them?
      It all looks cool, but it did feel like Race Craft was the easier way to find quality racing. And from reading the above, I still feel that way.

    Been at RCO a while now, great format with the lobbies getting bigger with humans, but still can race with adaptive AI. Web site with all your stats which is a great touch. GT4 races Watkins Glenn this week see you on track OGP from another OGP lol

      I suspect that LFM has poached away many drivers as it's the hot thing at the moment. Plus there was the 24 hour race on iRacing, which always grabs a big crowd (although I have yet to find a team so I have not tried it).
      But yeah, RCO is pretty cool and deserves more attention.

    Interesting. I'm getting into sim racing at the moment. Low fuel motorsport is worth looking at for assetto corsa and ACC. Imagine safety ratings and driver ratings iracing minus the monthly fee.

    Great video, thanks older gamer. We older gamers need to work out a pleasurable way to play this amazing game with others. You're figuring this out.
    It's so strange isn't it that AMS2 is such a good simulation in ways. Yet other aspects of the game seem underdone (mainly menu and all settings etc) but the actual simulation itself is spot on. The F1 cars are way better simulations even than the obligate official F1 games are. I actually really enjoy racing Aryton Senna's McClaren from the early 90s in this game. (I think its classic gen 4 F1) would love to set up races like this with others who lived through this time.

      It's true. The search for the perfect Sim seems endless, with the Goldlocks syndrome (this one is too hot, this one too cold), following me everywhere I go. I am starting to look into ACC, but it looks to be GT3 only, which is a shame as I prefer GT4 (which is in ACC but not heavily played from what I understand), and of course no open wheel cars at all.
      For me, the different sims seem to represent the opportunity to do what you want when you want.
      Want online - iracing is probably going to do it for you.
      Want offline - AMS2 is going to be your friend
      But, a few years ago I would have said PC2 could do it all. So time moves on, even for us older gamers :)
      The journey to sim racing nirvana continues...

    I used to drive mp races in Raceroom. Unfortunately, I eventually gave up because the lobbies were split by safety rating
    -'reputation'-rather than ability, aka ranking. As a result, even the 'rookie' servers were flooded with drivers that were definitely not rookies. They even have a server now specifically for really low safety rating drivers, which is ridiculous. This looks interesting, but as the lobbies are split by ability, I won't bother.

      @OlderGamersPerspective  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's tough isn't it, finding someone who offers true competition to iRacing, but for less money. I am thinking that ACC might be the answer, but it seems to be only for GT3 drivers.

    AMS2 is an offline game! To be fair if it ends up being an amazing offline only sim, there’s nothing wrong with that! We have so many amazing online racing sims and AMS2 know the game engine won’t allow them to compete with the online daily race sims. I love RF2, R3E for online and I use AMS2 for doing offline races. Use each sim for what it does best and accept it where it’s not good.
    Folks need to realise that AMS2 has been around four years next month, it’s never offered a proper online experience nor will it ever.

    • @OlderGamersPerspective
      @OlderGamersPerspective  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes indeed, I have found most of my AMS2 experiences to be best when offline. I really enjoy the amount of cars on offer, and the diversity of tracks, even without the DLC, there are plenty. I can even drive go kart :) Something iRacing doesn't offer.
      But it does sometimes have uses for multiplayer. Last week @gamermuscle had a day where he was offering an impromptu gathering for some races, on AMS2, which is free to set up, and so is great for these types of fun races. And it was a lot of fun. I happened to see the races were on going while I was having my lunch, so quickly finished my marmite on toast and dived in.
      And it was a lot of fun.
      Later that week, I took part in a community race, organised by @LDFR , on iRacing, and also a lot of fun, but a different experience.
      So yes, AMS2 is primarily an off line sim, but... I can still be used, to great effect, at multiplayer.

      @@OlderGamersPerspective not strictly true. Depends on the time. There were around 30 players online on average at 8pm UK time according to the stats over the last 3 days. It was dead over the summer but since the patch numbers have been good. Plenty of good races to be had.

    Are there constant players online?

    • @OlderGamersPerspective
      @OlderGamersPerspective  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Constant? Depends I think on what part of the world you live in and what times you sim race. It's not iRacing, that's for sure, but you can be lucky and find some well populated races. I think the player count has taken a bit of a hit due to LFM being the current popular online option, but it's still worth looking at Race Craft Online, which has the advantage over iRacing of being free.

      That is just the Multiplayer aspect of AMS2, there are a number of people who use it in Championship mode, sort of a career mode (which I covered in an earlier video). Steam lists this as having peak player numbers (this month) at around 2,500 players. Not earth shattering, but not too shabby either.

    If multiplayer server settings are setup properly you DONT need to exit practice to continue in one session to the Race.

    • @OlderGamersPerspective
      @OlderGamersPerspective  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Is that if there is just a Practice server that is used for a Race that is on a different server? I found no way to progress from on to the other.
