Hi. Thank you for your video. There is one moment I didn`t get. At 2:32 when you select model it`s a group, and at 2:33 ooop and it`s not a group. Took some time for me to figure it out.
1. Push pull backwards 2. You cant push pull curved surfaces > use intersect faces with model > and delete the part you don't want 3. Cut components > create shape on a face > create component > glue to any + cut opening > create > make a copy of the component > model and extrude the component > component is automatically extruded 4. Doublecut extension 5. Use solid tools > subtract

I'm following along and notice when trying to create a window component that cuts out when you put it on a face, it doesn't work when the face is a group? So if I'm working on a model of a house, for example and don't care about wall thickness, I have to explode the group that contains the wall I want a window on?

Thank you, great video! Im struggle with a model that I am trying to convert to stl. It has several holes through and some letting that i am attempting to counter sink into the face. Everything appears fine until I convert the file, at that point the holes and letters only appear in x-ray. Any help would be appreciated. Your channel is amazing! Im a contractor and you have single handedly taught me sketchup and saved me tones of time on estimates, I am getting to point were I am able to present concept drawings to customers, this will be a game changer. Thanks for your videos, I really enjoy them. I'm modelling a shop build to a very high detail with individual studs, windows, joists, plywood, even vapor barriers. I've got the model framed out and now want to add the siding but I'm not finding a good way to delete the siding inside of my windows and doors without painstakingly drawing lines on the insides of these openings and push/pulling the geometry until it disappears. I have curved windows in my design and this way is proving to be too time consuming. Solid tools do not seem to help here since my framing is grouped already. Can you offer any suggestions whether from videos you've previously done or something else I can try? Thanks

in the 3D warehouse models I couldn't find any holes to cut out. Are the models from 3D warehouse possible for cutting out holes after they are downloaded in Sketchup with the pushpull or other tool from the menu to get an opening for a doorway or window opening?

Theoretically there are some extensions out there that can do this, though I haven't tested any of them, so I'm not sure I'm going to be very helpful on this one...sorry...

Great video will all of these examples of ways to cut holes that you showed work in sketch up version 2016 I noticed you're using version 2018. I can't afford to upgrade every time they come out with a new version I don't have the money or the need to do so
I believe they all should work in 2016 as well, assuming that 2016 Pro came with solid tools (I thought that it did, but I'm not sure). I'm not 100% sure if DoubleCut is 2016 compatible, so that would be the big question mark for me. Thanks!

I am using Sketch Up Free and have been having issues with creating openings in walls. I have tried #3 because it seems to be the easiest for my situation. I need to make 2 windows, a door, and a large garage door opening. I follow every step in #3 but the single-thickness rectangle (wall) still does not cut to create an opening. I have tried #1 on a 3-D wall also, which did not work. Do you or anyone else have any advice on what to do?

Justin, Hey buddy, I really love your work. I've hit a wall...literally. I'm trying to push a rectangle through a cube and hit the other wall. The other wall doesn't want to break. If I click in the area I'm trying to delete, hit the delete key, it ends up deleting the entire wall instead of just the rectangle. I tried drawing the rectangle on the opposite wall, but it won't allow me to pull it. I'm sure this is vague, and I'm sorry. If you have any ideas, it would mean a lot.

I want to make a structure so i've been trying to draw it in sketchUp first, one of the windows on this structure is right in the corner. I can make a normal opening in sketchUp using the push/pull tool but it doesn't work to push/pull the corner away!!! the corner will stay there depending on the width of the walls. (2) in "Slicex" you could create New Drum Loops and softs in any order from different slices. And keep the loop slices playing in and

Hrm...I don't know this one. Try scaling it up by a factor of 10 and exporting that and seeing if the holes are still there

Note!! if a piece is grouped, the piece has to be in edit group mode first for this to work.
I suppose that depends on which of the methods you're using...

Try to see soft design , composing and setuping as three seperate tNice tutorialngs to focus on and it might will make more sense
5:15 you hid the extra geometry. What is the difference between hiding it and deleting it?
You can't see it, as opposed to it not existing any more? Hidden geometry can be unhidden
