You have no idea how much helpful your videos for ppl juste starting with sketchup , you make the entier tool be very easy to design with. can't wait to transform all my old designs to a 3D, thanks to you.
I'm an interior design student, and your videos are very helpful. I just wish there was a playlist with every video in order, that would have been so much easier. I was watching another video, then you mentioned the grids and sandbox section, that's why I'm here now.
I'm literally always searching your channel whenever i have an assignment for college 😂 thanks for the helpful content you make. Keep up the great work!
I hadn't used sandbox tools for a while and your video was a super, easy-to-follow guide to manipulating topography and placing a road. I've subscribed so that I can find you more easily next time. Thank you.
AW! Been working with sketchup since 2004 and just now realized what i have missed with this! 100s of hours to waste. Thanks for yet another great vid!
I've been wondering for ages how to create hills and mounds in sketchup. I've been using it for ages and mostly made flat ramps and never really realised it was so simple this was a super useful run down thanks!
I have actually learned more from u than from college, I don't have money right now , but will definitely do some contribution to a real "GURU" like u, thanks agian.
your videos help so so so much every time im confused about how to make certain complex shape on sketchup and im on deadline..... thank you so much i really appreciate all you do for us
Hi !! From the comment below, I have come to know your good name... Justin , thank you so much for such a wonderful tutorial. You are the best tutor ever.. M yet to watch all of your videos...after watching , m pretty sure my skills for sketch up would be honed to perfection. Thank you so much... God bless you Justin.. Love from India😘
I finally convinced my boss to upgrade me into sketchup pro , so I find this video very intuitive and informative , I'm building a entire water treatment facility and the first step was to import all of the previous building into the new version , then I finally got geo location , my next step would be to put sandbox into my satellite image
I discovered there is nothing magic about the grid created by the sandbox, although it is easy. It's just a grid of rectangles in a group. I created a 1x10 rectangle and duplicated it x9, giving a square with all rows but no columns, so to speak, then grouped it. The Smoove tool worked inside it, but only functioned on one plane, instead of two. Other shapes worked also, as long as there was some linear connection. BTW, you're my favorite teacher. Good work.
That's correct - there's nothing special about the sandbox grid - the smoove tool generally only works on one axis, but you can use it on most geometry inside of SketchUp :) - Glad you're liking the videos!
Great tutorials! Greetings from Norway 🙂 I'm a Sketchup novice just started using this a couple of weeks a go. This really gives a boost in progress. Using this as a tool in education for my class at college. Do you have any videos for cleaning up the edges in to the slab, making the terrain line up with the wall/concrete, when working with sandbox? Was ready to quit using this program, but then i came across your channel. Nice!!
Just installed SU 2020 PRO and I am now able to really take advantage of my landscape design in my model when I bring it into Lumion thanks to you! I learned so much. Liked and subscribed! I gotta show the rest of the guys in my office your channel.
Hermano, soy tu fiel seguidor ya desde hace tiempo, dejame decirte que eres un crack!!!! explicas super bien todos los temas, sinceramente te agradezco todo tu contendio, saludos desde Cancun-Mexico
I have found that the stamp tool wants to offset by .03m if I set it to 0m? I am also wondering how I use the stamp tool to create a flat surface with a different offset on each side (eg a vertical retaining wall on one side and a slope on another?
Really great explantation... always wanted to understand how this worked. I design pools and landscaping and often work with grades. Like adding a pool on the side of a hill. Any tips for this would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!
I also need to stamp a serpentine shape walking path on a steep hill. But I need it to be as flat/horizontal not like a road following the volume of ground. The hill is about thirty stories high. Thanks
Great tutorial, thanks. I've been using SketchUp v.15 for many years and now considering Pro 2022 with Layout 2D for my architectural design and product development work. Would prefer to buy the software outright, rather than a web subscription.
I was wondering why SketchUp crashed every time I tried using the smooth tool xD Turns out you're not supposed to select anything. Thank you for this tutorial!
Unfortunately I don't know - I haven't really gotten into 3D printing yet. I really need to go ahead and just buy a 3D printer, but haven't gotten around to it yet...
Good one. I've been fumbling with the Sandbox because it's so abstract. When modeling a house, you must know the site where it will be built, rather than just the area, when you start to develop the site plan. If you do have a Google Earth image capture of the actual location, then you really need to know how to use these tools. Thanks.
Nice guide! I wonder if it was possible to compare original landscape sketch to changed version, for example so that changed bits would be presented in different color or something. So I could print it out to excavator guy who shapes the terrain, as a presentation from where to remove and where to add more landmass :)

It's easy to make textures on gimp and render animated scenes on 4d blue after building terrain on sketchup
Dude, u're legit my new best friend
I have actually learned more from u than from college, I don't have money right now , but will definitely do some contribution to a real "GURU" like u, thanks agian.

So far the best tutorial for this tool

Never mind, Figured it out, you have Right click and select Edit Group for it to work. I don't think you mentioned that. (i'm using SU 2020)
Just double click
thank you very much, architecture student here
👍never used sandbox tools before ... this was an EXCELLENT intro. THX
Glad it was helpful!

I wish if I knew this before I submit my integrated project with a geometric mountain :))
Really great explantation... always wanted to understand how this worked. I design pools and landscaping and often work with grades. Like adding a pool on the side of a hill.

I'm sure you could - maybe use something like solid tools to intersect the differences or something...
